it absolutely is. And especially, good for the player. This Gold Cup we have seen Busios upside capacity. We have also seen his youth and rawness. This was a critical juncture in his time to move to get to the next level. Absolutely perfect timing for him. Got some nats experience under his belt and now can focus on getting that Serie A education.

that’s two Americans. I want one or two more plz. Preferably one being Sands

The Championship is a good route abroad for our players who are MLS standouts but not spring chickens anymore because they got a late start thru the college system.

Championship clubs are willing to pony up a little more $ to prompt transfers and their focus is on winning now so they'd prefer ready players over prospects.

Miles Robinson and Matt Turner should get the requisite caps in this tourney for a WP. Zimmerman & Lletget wouldn't be out of the question. Eryk Williamson would be a good candidate if he got the caps in this tourney. Same thing went for Mueller.

Championship is so hard to gauge with who is “win now”. Naturally we want our guys to go to win now promotion contenders. Derby county was supposed to be “win now”, but……. Here we are.

Zimmerman is a bit of a mystery to me.
When his first contract ran out in MLS with FCD he trialed over in Europe..................and got no offers.
Even in Scandinavia. So then he returned to MLS, and continues to show that he's a very good defender.
It boggles the mind that nobody wanted him on a free frickin' transfer.

Depends how much compensation Zimmerman was seeking.

Yea, I'm sure he was offered by Scandinavian teams or whoever. But that doesn't mean he wouldn't have gotten the $ required, a few hundred k a yr or more, to make it worth his while of moving.

I think at the time he wasn't even a clear starter. He subsequently won MLS defender of the year, best xi's, and got nat'l team opportunities. The equation's changed. According to Kristian Dyer, Zimmerman was a target of Hoffenheim in '17. According to MLSSoccer he was receiving interest from the EPL & C'Ship in '18. So C'Ship is perfectly plausible, if Nashville plays ball, which they probably won't.

They're all win now. Some are just better or more equipped than others to execute the plan.

Point being players well in their 20's w/ competitive experience would be more attractive to them and likely to be played. It's not a good landing spot for our young kids who wouldn't get played or the club get paid as much.

The Championship and mid-career MLS standouts are a good marriage, so long as the players could get WP's & the existing clubs don't overvalue services.

Zimmerman has noticeably improved his passing over the last 2+ years. I think he is a more complete player and would have stronger interest on the international market based on his current form and attributes.

If he wants to go abroad, I hope it happens, but he’s at an age where his national team career might benefit from the consistent PT and confidence he gets from being a good MLS player. I also think it’s good for the young players in MLS to go up against quality players like him.

well, yeah, but there are also some that get super rich owners which change the paradigm. Like when wolves went up, they had a new owner who could spend lavishly. I believe derby and forest owners also have large piles of cash now too (I’m talking premier league level war-chests) but, for whatever reason they’re struggling. Sunderland new owner is loaded to the brim too now, but……. They’re Sunderland. Sheffield Wednesday have a loaded owner too but…… they went down. And little Barnsley made it to the playoffs. This is why the championship is fun

Little Barnsley has owners worth $9.1B, which is crazy because it's not even a city.

I really think he could hop directly into a Bundesliga midtable side and be a great rotational asset that gives formation flexibility. Hopefully he continues to play well and forces Gregg to bring him in for qualifiers.

As there continues to be very poor takes regarding josh Sargent, here’s the list of players younger than him who scored more goals in the bundesliga last season

    erling haaland
    Jason sancho
    Jamal musiala
    Matthew hoppe

    That’s it. That’s the list.

I think I read he’s the most expensive transfer ever for Venezia. So he’s definitely going to get a lot of opportunities.

The facts on the ground would suggest otherwise... it's a youth team plus like Tim Ream and Gyasi Zardes

do you think bundisliga teams care how old their goalscorers are? how many plays sarges age or younger period will be the same club in 5 years?

age doesnt matter to a club in any way other than a financial consideration (its hard not to sell for more than you bought). the only people it matters to is us. we have sarge for a decade.

That would be the logic of that post.
I checked their game results from last season. They played a lot of single pivot 433. So Busio should be a fit.
