I totally agree. I mean..............................clubs can ask for whatever they want. Then the negotiations begin. If clubs are getting close then you tack on future incentives, etc. to get over the line. Some fans on these boards seem to expect clubs (whether MLS or otherwise) to accept the first bids that come in. That's not the way it works. I expect that both Sargent and Hoppe are moved. By the way, we're continuing to hear rumblings out of FCD camp that Tessmann won't be the last sale this window. Lots of scuttlebutt in the twitterverse that Dante Sealy could be sold imminently.
Keep an eye on Patrick Weah at Real Bettis. His two-week training stint might end up being something more. This is the transfer season when European teams decided that American teens are a good lottery ticket. It is hard to turn down the money and glamor. But I do wonder how this will all turn out in terms of career management.
Agreed. Not only will some of these players not work out for Euro teams acting like the last buyer's in a pyramid scheme but it can also hurt the player who goes too high too fast like Icarus and has their wings singed as their career flames out. Soto is the latest example who can hopefully grow new wings and fly. Many don't
Don't be surprised if Dike is not sold this summer. Orlando are asking a bit much for him, and finances are tight for European Clubs. With Pato still injured, Orlando don;t have cover if they sell Dike. Also, Orlando is going to lose Mueller at the end of this season as well. His contract is up in December. Dike's rookie deal is likely up at the end of next season, though Orlando may have option years.
SKC had been looking for a minimum of $10 million at one point. Sometimes the final number is close to the opening number. Sometimes not. Sometimes clubs get realistic. Sometimes they don't.
The fact that he has played the last 2 friendlies indicates to me that they are in no great hurry to move him and will stick close to their asking price given that it is around Transfermarkt. Bremen is currently picked to win 2BL and go right back up. Sargent is reportedly on a very reasonable contract, there is no incentive for a bargain sale.
I'm sure some suitors are making that argument. If Bremen is forced to sell then it may have value, if not, which appears to be the case, then they will just say "nice chatting with you".
Demanding $10 million for Sargent makes sense from the standpoint of his having that level of value for Bremen's upcoming promotion challenge.
Is the Marca article based on a single tweet from a 24 hour old account, or is it corroboration? Marca.com: Betis go after Shaq Moore The US website USMNT News Now even reports that... Ah.
I kind of like the path that Aaronson and McKenzie have taken. Presumably Vines would be on a similar path. But players don't always have a choice. Imo, the ideal is to go to a league similar or slightly more challenging than MLS and gradually move up. Of course for mega-talents like Pulisic, Reyna and Dest a different path is fine.
Its a reasonable asking price. I mean.....................we heard that a club submitted a bid in that range for Dike. I can understand Orlando's reluctance here too vis-a-vi Dike. They're finally winning and a contender for trophies in 2021. Its harder to sell when you're in the winning part of your building plan. Don't you want to build your fanbase and give your fans a magical season? I mean, FC Dallas is hot trash. They can sell Tessmann, Sealy, whomever. Fire sale!!! FCDs general manger is solely there due to his expertise in selling players to the Euro market anyway.
Except they won't do that either until the season's over. IF Orlando sells Dike it'll be in the Winter after the 2021 MLS season ends. Orlando City is still in the process of being sold to the Wilf's too. The team feels a lot of pressure to get on field success because of how shitty their first years in MLS have been in comparison to their time in USL. Add in the fact that Muzzi and Pareja don't have a history of selling players on.....I'm skeptical that they'll start now.
No takers, so far. Very different players. That's an argument for the internal valuation of the player: to the club, the player as a value above what the market is willing to pay. That's cool. He's not going for $20 million, right now. Maybe FCD should split the GM duties. Have someone specialize in sales. Have someone else specialize in acquisitions.
Bayern have made contact with Barcelona over Sergiño Dest, who they almost signed before Barça snatched him up last summer. Bayern are also interested in Sergi Roberto and Emerson Royal if they can’t get Dest [@rac1 via @sport] pic.twitter.com/GGOuC3nhbn— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) July 18, 2021 Dest would like to stay at Barcelona, whom he chose to move to from Ajax ahead of Bayern. Just awaiting final signed docs and player medical. @SportingKC agreed to the following; $10.5m-11m range between transfer and incentives for @gbusio13 with Venezia. Should be finalized by mid-week according to a source close to the player. #SportingKC #MLS— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) July 18, 2021
Incredible business by SKC. Not sure a non-American owned team pays that.
