Has his game decline when playing with us? NO Then the issue is at club level. Perhaps he didn't handle it well when the starter came back. I don't believe is because he forgot how to play.
There was reportedly a meeting between Valencia and Yunus Musah's agents as FC Barcelona are reportedly interested. The scenario discussed would send Aleñá and Braithwaite to Valencia and Musah would head to Barcelona. (Hilo)— CARLOS BOSCH (@Carlos_bosch) July 7, 2021
Messi, if he’s still at Barca, wouldn’t be too happy losing Braithwaite. He’s ranted and raved about him and how much he likes to play with him. I think it’s simply because Braithwaite does the dirty work and allows Messi to do Messi things. As for Musah… I’d be curious to know if Barca would slide him inside where he belongs or keep him outside. If sliding inside wouldn’t Musah and Pedri play the same type of role?
It's called cost cutting. Think it's just a matter of time until one of Madrid, Barca or Atleti go in for Yunus
Not sure that's relevent here, but it's a legitimate premium, if you're selling to a British Club. An English national team player is worth a hell of a lot more to Manchester United than say a French player, just based on the marketing upside.
Until the FIFA gods confirm that Musah is cap-tied to the USMNT, him holding a British passport makes it relevant.
Unreal that we even have to have this conversation. He should’ve been cap tied against Honduras, but I know I’m beating a dead horse here.
I'd say he's de facto cap-tied at this point. Turning back now will be extraordinarily difficult for Musah. For starters, he recorded that video with so many of the USA's top players saying how great the programme is, how united they are, how diverse and proud of it they are, etc. and then announcing that he's "in" with a big, happy smile on his face. Rowing back on that is going to be, not embarrassing, but downright humiliating. It'll also sabotage any marketing premiums Musah could hope to bring to an EPL side's table as an England international. With that video, trying to switch back to England will make him a desperate standup comedian's go-to punchline until 2030, maybe longer. Then there's the little matter of England having done rather well at Euro 2020. It was always going to be remarkably hard to break into England's squad for WC 2022 and Euro 2024, but after this . . . On top of that, he turned England down on Gareth Southgate's watch. MNT managers don't take too kindly to being rejected and then having the player turn around and say that he wants back in - just as you've reached your first final in 55 years. For Southgate it'll be a case of "Don't call me; I'll call you" and all that. It's not going to happen.
I tend to agree Maddening as a casual observer to watch guys as well regarded as Foden, Sancho...heck even Rashford find it tough to break into the 11. Musah would not stand a chance unless he ramps up development at a wildly unlikely pace and trajectory
I tend to agree with everything except the wildly unlikely trajectory thing. Musah is going to be a star and his current trajectory is already higher than where Mount/Rice/etc. were at that age.
well it’s someone like Kalvin Phillips and Mason Mount he’d have to beat out, rather than the guys you mentioned. He’s not remotely Prem quality as an outside player, but as a central player he’s got massive potential, and think he could eventually play for just about anyone there
Agree with this. He's ahead of the pace when compared to the guys currently playing midfield for England. There's no telling if he can catch/pass those guys in ability, but I don't really see any reason to doubt him. He moves around on the field, with and without the ball, in a manner that oozes elite class and athleticism. He just needs to play and we will see how far he goes.
Yea I'm hoping Valencia moves him there this season. He needs to start developing those playmaking/tactical abilities
I guess this means that Getafe entered a better bid for Aleñá than Valencia did. I don't know that any of these twitter accounts have any credibility, but it would seem to put a damper on the rumored trade of Aleñá and Braithwaite for Musah if the former is headed elsewhere.
Game is on ESPN3/deportes for those interested. Hope hes lining up as a CM this season Edit: Musah playing as a secondary striker in this one.
He is looking really good in an interesting advanced central role. This is what we've all been waiting for.
You can see his quality whenever he is on the ball. Impossible to take the ball off him, and uses his body to shield extremely well and never looks rushed. However, you can see why there are rumors of him lacking the proper work ethic. Off the ball hes constantly walking around and generally looks disinterested. If hes going to play his preferred CM role he needs to up his off ball movement and defensive prowess. His talent is unquestionable.
True, but it's also worth mentioning that Musah was pretty effective in the high press, at least earlier in the half. This has been a surprisingly chippy half at this point in the preseason. Valencia is not pulling out of an challenges to say the least.
