Now Italy have won EURO their 2nd EURO title in 50 plus years. Last one was in 1968 and fast forward 53 years later you guys win it again. But now that EURO is over, you guys have to turn your attention to Qatar and qualifying for Qatar especially since you guys missed the last World Cup in Russia. I wonder if Mancini keeps the same core group of guys for World Cup qualifying?

Subtle much ? ....No one is thinking about 2018 and not qualifying. But again you find a way to bring a pot shot into a compliment. You're underhanded compliments are not going unnoticed . Get the f*** out of here .

No one is thinking about stuff like this, but strangely you keep doing it with what you think is subtle little pot shots. Fvck off troll . I had you pegged from the beginning as one . What is this like your 100th sock account ? Or perhaps your 6th sock account , one for every major competition Italy has won between the WC and Euro ? Must suck bro.

Euro is harder to win , but the WC has more prestige . Statistically speaking the majority of the weaker teams come from those confederations and they just dilute the tournament , so yeah the Euro is kinda of harder to win . Brazil and Argentina are the exceptiona with a few other teams from Conmebol and others associations and that's about it . Talent is most concentrated in UEFA. So ....fvck off again. I'm just saying.

After saving the last pk, Donnarumma had no emotion.

Did he not realize he just won the Euro or did he think someone else was up to take another spot kick?

Well, thats true, they keep saying Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard generation as golden generation. In reality, these players became notable names due to winning CL and they achieved that by playing alongside best players from various country.

I'm sure there is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said over this thread, but we went from the biggest failure in our footballing history in not qualifying for a World Cup, to one of the biggest triumphs in our history in winning a European Cup, which we hadn't done since 1968, as rank outsiders, without the strongest front line, with a Mancini who managed to change our rigid footballing philosophy, playing attractive football and becoming deserving champions in the end. I am so proud of this side and especially Mancini.

    Forza Italia!

Gary woke Lineker made a sly remark about Bonucci and Chiellini taking drugs to play so many games. Pointing out the large number of games they have played, he emphasised "you're asking questions there. it was almost to unbelievable, possibly" An annoying little weasel of a man.

A great weekend all round. Nice for Messi to win while De Paul is a beast. Papu played his part too with a couple of sweet finishes.

Yeah, but that was through penalty shootouts, and matches decided on penalty shootouts go on record as draws. I meant a victory within the 90 minutes or at the very least 120 minutes.

All the pundits are roasting Southgate and justly so. In the first half it looked like his strategy was paying off, but we were able to adjust, and he did not. So all the credit to Mancini for winning the tactical battle. 5 man backline in a cup final at home in Wembley is something I didn't imagine I'd see. Southgate was reminiscent of a classic Italian manager. Too cautious and too much overthinking.

Emerson Palmieri and Di Lorenzo started the game very poor, but as Italy grew, so did they. I questioned the Cristante sub, and he was very good. I didn't think he would be the one to cause the English problems. Verratti was also very good.

Before the tournament, I thought it would have been a waste to bring in Chiellini. Not because he's a bad defender, but an injury liability. He was incredible and thank god I'm an idiot whose opinions have no bearing on reality. We could have not won this game without the Juve CB pair.

It's been repeated many times that this Italy side doesn't have superstars and I have no idea now how you can say that now with Donnarumma's performance. With all the respect to Grealish who they say is Man City bound for 100 million, Chiesa showed what a real fuoriclasse he was. When the game was hot, he looked like he was going to be the real decider. Man City should be trying to sign him instead.

I hope this game is wakeup call to Italian managers. There are still too many in Italy who play ala Southgate. Mancini has showed what even a modest group of talents can do if they're allowed to play with a certain freedom.

    AVANTI!

What a moron (but we already knew this).

Vierchowod? Maldini? Chiellini's performances at the tournament have been impressive, but hardly unprecedented. But Lineker would actually have to have a cursory knowledge of football outside of England to know that.

This is why there's such general contempt for English football punditry. 98% don't even know what they're talking about and are completely blind to their own ignorance.

Lineker actually thinks this is illegal drugs, which is not.

I think for those that have been a bit skeptical, we can now put Chiellini and Bonucci next to such names as Maldini, Cannavaro, Nesta, Baresi, etc. These guys won a cup while completely shutting down 2 of the best Strikers in the world. Once Spina went out, we lost a bit offensively, but our defense was still exceptional.
