I think he could do the job of course based on his track record last season. He's got some serious injury history though that might make a buyer beware.

He may also be on one of those deals where he gets a highish 3 Liga base salary and gets near-BL2 pay based on appearances and goal scorers bonuses. He's a proven source of goals at this level and Halle had just missed out on promotion the season before they signed him. They may have thought that he'd score the quantity of goals that would get them over the line, which he has. It's just that they keep conceding at the other end.

I guess 30 years old isn't that old for a soccer player nowadays. With a good training regimen, he could be in good shape and finally recovered from his injuries.
Anecdotally, my peak physical fitness was when I was 30-32 and I wasn't a pro athlete. I'd think the same for them (28-32)
And the 3Liga is a whole lot weaker than BL 2, so less need to constantly be at gut-busting levels of physical fitness all season, every season. He can pace himself that little bit more, so less wear and tear
