Still doesn’t change the fact Meshino is there on-loan. He’s been benched for large parts of the season.
Yes. Staying at Rio Ave will not guarantee him playing time. Better to move, even if Rio Ave are safe from relegation.
Ryotaro Meshino is set to join Portuguese club Estoril in a 1-year deal from Manchester City. https://t.co/9mO7ririw7
Meshino moves officially to Estoril on-loan: Bem-vindo Ryotaro Meshino! 👏🎙️: "Estou muito feliz por estar no Estoril Praia e entusiasmado com a hipótese de ter os adeptos no nosso estádio. Vou dar o meu melhor por este clube e por esta equipa. It seems he is now starting to use pace and running down the wing, not just trying to do some dribbling moves while being static. ⚽ GOLOMeshino 96'Liga Portugal BWIN (#1) | FC Arouca 0-2 Estoril Praia#LigaPortugalBWin #FCAGDEP pic.twitter.com/2RViRjdeW2— VSPORTS (@vsports_pt) August 7, 2021
I think it’s a pretty good move for him. Though Schalke are somehow a second division club at the moment, they’re probably the third most popular club in Germany after Bayern and Dortmund and have way more resources than their 2.Bundesliga competition. So a great chance to be part of winning side, probably a significant wage increase for him, and first division football next year if the team lives up to expectations.
I agree. This might work out like Endo at Stuttgart. Although we're talking about Schalke, so... everything could happen.

Schalke's record since Itakura became a starter 7P 6W 0D 1L / 5 clean sheets He is too good to play in the second division. Schalke are already considering making the loan deal permanent.
Surprised no one has mentioned it yet but scored his first goal for the club in a 4-1 win against Nuremberg 2 days ago
I hope Schalke would promote to Bundesliga 1, otherwise, he should look for another team next season.
#JapaneseAbroad: Ko Itakura scored his first league goal in Germany today for Schalke @s04 vs. Nuremberg. He played as a CB, and started the play from the back-line up to the opponents penalty box.Schalke's fans already likening him to German legend Franz Beckenbauer. https://t.co/Jcn5SqyiA2— Samurai Warrior (@SamuraiWarrio17) December 10, 2021
