Surprising to see Gabigol and GJ playing together, and I like seeing Cebolinha in the line up. Between GJ and Gabigol, I much prefer Gabigol, and no that’s not because I’m a Flamenguista fanático, GJ is just not cutting it.
God, I wish we could play some of those EURO seleções to see where we are really at instead of playing the same SA seleções over and over again.

Looks like a 4-2-1-3. With Jesus and Cebolinha having to track back into a 4-5-1 defending.

Lackluster start, but we found a goal. Alex Sandro.

I feel like Tite put this team out there to prove a point. 4 forwards and no midfield is not a good idea. Team looks clueless.

Sort of. They were forcing Neymar not to come for the ball, intending for him to get it in more dangerous areas, but they can't get it to him at all, so now we see him adjusting a little. Let's see what he does in the second half.

That makes no sense. If you want Neymar closer to the goal you don't play 2 wingers and a striker in front of him. Who's gonna collect the ball in the mid ? The whole point of this was to have Neymar play in the mid creating in a free role.

Not having a go at you mind you. It's what I saw as well. Big gap in the middle. This was an awful half of football.

That shot from Neymar wasn't that great ... bad positioning from the GK.

Better second half, but that's not saying much. Better transition and connections fortunately, but still at a training pace.

Everton Ribeiro's skill to keep the ball moving forward was key for the goal. First half that play would have stopped there and built up slowly.

The PK seemed so obvious at first, but the replays were clear.

Peru should have scored there. Tite should consider that a goal conceded when he goes over the game with the players.

I feel like Tite sabotaged Gabigol's start.

    Certainly worked out that way.

We always seem to score late or in added time. There's one more left right?

(Well, could've been Firmino's awful miss)

EDIT: Nope, there it is! Everton Ribeiro. Just pinging the ball around and then a quick move forward turns into a beautiful goal!

Another wasted chance by Firmino (I think) but this time Richarlison puts it in... on his second try.

    EDIT: Which makes it 4x0

Hj batemo em morto. Jogamos 15-20 minutos e marcamos 3. Não sou do grupo contra o Tite, mas tem que achar um padrão de jogo logo logo.

Agreed. Just caught the highlight for the goal by Everton Ribeiro. Great teamwork and passing, but from what I heard on the radio, the first half was awful. The good thing is that Tite did experiment beyond what he generally does and hopefully he'll draw lessons from this game.

EDIT: This was Everton Ribeiro's first NT goal.

I think the team will need to step it up a gear against Colombia but after that, I expect the Ecuador game to be quite boring, unless Ecuador needs a result in that last game.

We have a bye this weekend which means a full 5 days rest in Rio before the next game.

2 weeks ago, Colombia won at Peru 0-3, and this Sunday, they meet again. I can see Peru coming back from tonight's defeat to beat Colombia (and to avenge June 3), which would put Peru in contention for the mata-mata. If Colombia wins, however, it'll give them confidence vs. Brazil.

However, given Colombia couldn't beat Venezuela tonight, I currently see a Peruvian win as likelier.
