Maybe something’s lost in translation but now Sarah Dabritz is out do to an ‘slap on the shin’(can this be that serious?)

MVT seems to have only replaced Doorsoun with Rall, because Doorsoun's injured...:cautious: MVT still hasn't addressed the CB/FB issue, she's simply side stepping it again.

The offensively stronger Brand, will still be forced to play as a FB with MVT; even with Rall being added to the squad.

Plus MVT won't attempt to acknowledge where, or how, Rall plays FB for Hoffenheim anyway, making any concerns over Rall's positioning moot.

Seriously... your trying to present more of this false narrative as the reason behind Germany's underwhelming performances...

I've gone back to watch those matches, and the stats versus Netherlands saw Germany having 19 shots to Netherlands 16. Germany putting 10 of those shots on target, to Netherlands 7 on target. And guess what... Germany producing 45% of the ball (376 passes), compared to the Netherlands 55% (471 passes).

Meaning we remove the weird negative bias you have for any teams showcasing technique in passing, the facts here paint a very different reality, no? Netherland's not only having more of the ball, but also passing it more than Germany, in the process of winning a game with less attempts/attempts on target too.

Your not acknowledging the constant hypocrisy on show here lol.

@hotjam2 Germany's spine has been a mess, never allowing the team to have a stable platform to develop strong/effective patterns of play (like you see with Netherlands). But look past the myth that the German program doesn't posses strong forwards, or defenders, and you see a pattern of strong youth wnt/club player development, being completely wasted at senior international level.

Just looking at CB's, Germany went to another UEFA U-19 final in 2019 with Kleinherne's performances earning her a place in the team of the tournament. The U-17's won UEFA's last tournament with a standout CB Mieke Schiemann in their team of the tournament. Before that.. 2014 Germany saw an excellent CB performance from Wolter help the U-20's win a WC.

I mean... just look at how impressive Schiemann looks...

Only using the past 5 years, Germany's junior program have created quality CB options for the senior team, but I'm telling you... you aren't going to see one of these players names I've highlighted, starting for Germany in their first match of the next WC...

Schiemann aged 19, Kleinherne aged 21, Wolter aged 23... MVT started a friendly match Vs Netherlands with CM standouts Lattwein aged 21, and Oberdorf aged 19, playing as her CB's...:confused:o_O

And if this wasn't bad enough, the match vs Netherlands also featured a mid-field 3 of Däbritz - Marozsan as the double 6, with Popp as a AM. Not having Däbritz, Marozsan, Popp, or Doorsoun, I'd like to believe it forces MVT to start players who'll actually benefit the balance again.

As the only time Germany remotely improves, seems to come through injury forcing MVT to make changes she wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

at the Fraunfussball/Facebook group someone was insinuating that Doursoon was faking the seriousness of her injury, but that post got deleted since.

looks like Magull isn’t playing as well(idk). So out of the original roster; OUT; Magull, Dabritz, Leupolz, Doursoon, Berger
    IN; Rall, Dongus, Johanes

big names missing before original rosters; Hendrich, Popp, Marozsan(first two are injured, Maro probably give time off since she’s reporting to the Seattle club)

not to say that the French don’t have their own problems; fwds Katoto, Diane, Cascarino & CB M’Bock missing, plus they got an u23 NT playing too
. It’s interesting that French league leading scorer Katoto asked for time off because she’s got an final college exam to take. Kinda shows that getting an education is still more important in woso than trying to make an living through the pro & NT ranks!

double checking Schiemann’s last season’s playing time; she’s only got 232 minutes on Potsdam II(zero on their first squad), so just saying though impressive in the video(plus youth NT’s) she’s still growing at the highest level(in all fairness, lots of late bloomers ala Hegering only making the NT at 28)
Noticed too, this presentation was done by an pro video company, especially meant to be send to get recruited by American colleges. So she might just be putting her pro/NT career on hold to get an stronger education.
Interestingly enough, I always thought playing soccer while attending college was an American thing, but then found out several of Hoffenheim’s best players were attending nearby U of Mainz, especially mid 20’s age like Wassmuth, Rall, Billa, so apparently they were going for the longer, master’s degree(6/7 years to complete.)
There was an interesting article on them last year, but can’t anymore find the link to the story.
It’s fair tried to say that MVT tried to establish control at the beginning but the Dutch beat them to it with a strong pressure game, particularly well coordinated by the 6 on top( worked well do to the excess back passing by Germany). Minus MVT getting out smarted, I still feel that Martens & Miedema looked very much like the creds given them as two of world’s best players. At first MVT put Kleinheme on Martens, then switched to usual starter Hendrich(due to Lattwein’s injury) but neither of them could stop Martens very strong penetration(as well same could be said of weak marking on Miedema)

Do you remember the link to the original HOF/college article (cuz it sort was funny that the players were on ‘athletic scholarships’ which was odd since I was previously under the impression that college was free in Germany!)

Schiemann played on the last game of the current season, but alas, her TP II lost to WOB II , 5-0

Hegering spent years dealing with injuries early in her career, so it's easy to forget she was once a highly regarded junior international DM, who was also called into senior teams at the same time as younger Popp, and Marozsan.

Hopefully Schiemann isn't another injury list "late bloomer", meaning I'll still use her as an example of Germany producing high quality defensive options, that we'll probably never see at the next WC; regardless of their quality performances within junior/club level football.

MVT's tactical naivety was exposed again. She doesn't seem to ever grasp the concept of acknowledging opponents strengths.

Starting with the typical DFB 4-2-3-1, CM's Lattwein - Oberdorf, saw AM's Marozsan - Däbritz as the two CM's tasked with to protect ing central areas, and dictating tempo. The Netherland's exploited huge spaces behind Germany's weak CM duo, allowing constantly EASY to find passes into Miedema's feet.

But this "excess back passing by Germany" you talk about didn't exist lol.. as they created way more clear cut chances than Netherlands, with LESS possession of the football. Netherlands being very lucky not to concede 3 or 4 from Bühl's numerous wasted chances in the second half.

That simply doesn't happen with "excess back passing"...

lol.. so what does that say about Bühl's performance then...? She created and wasted SO MANY chances, it was probably the same amount as Martens & Miedema...:coffee:

I know you have some weird dislike for Bayern now, which makes Bühl one of the names you'll try to attach negative bias towards; but she had at least 4-5 clear chances, and still created chances for others, during a match your saying Martens & Miedema proved their world class status by doing far less...

Hmmmm... almost seems like only selecting 5 defenders within a squad of 27 players, was supremely short-sighted... But don't worry... now we'll get to see more CM's and AM's Lattwien - Oberdorf - Brand - Feldkamp, show why they're obviously superior defensive choices...:whistling:

Seriously though... knowing MVT doesn't have any intention of bringing a genuine defender into her current roster (like Elsig, Wolter, Stegemann, Wedemeyer), I'd rather see Kleinherne - Feldkamp start at CB now.

I feel like Oberdorf already the best mid-fielder in the nation, and it's time she got to showcase why, as the regular starter in MVT's mid-field; this even when Marozsan, Popp, Leupolz, Däbritz, eventually come back.

Happy to report no new injuries! So with that, what will MVT’s lineup look like? Going more on MVT’s previous lineups & who’s available, this would be my prediction

    Buhl...........Freigang........Huth
    ..........,,,,,,,,,,,..Dallmann
    ..............Lohmann.......Nusskins
    Rauch....Oberdorf..Kleinheme....Maier(hopefully it’s someone else)

most likely subs......Schuller, Wassmuth, Rall, Brand. Feldcamp, Dongus Wassmuth

Germany/France rivalry has been very unpredictable in the past; just as you think one is favorite, the other wins in shockingly dominant manor(i remember when we were all hoping Stefi Jones squad would loose in an friendly right after the 2017 Euros, just so the coach would get fired, but then she wins lopsided 4-1, lol. But then right around 2014 when Germany looked like at its peak, they lost very convincingly(though that could of been due to the build in chemistry of the Lyon squad(about 8 French starters)

the game should be broadcast on Sport shau.de I most likely wouldn’t be able to see it live & watch it later on YouTube, but if anybody got an direct link, be sure to post it

I got an weird dislike for any super rich club that keeps buying the rest of the league’s best talents year after year. Put them all on one or two teams, and you got almost no real competition for most of the rest of the year. I believe you become a better player if you face stiff competition every single game, otherwise you start becoming too complacent

Yeah... OK... I maintain the illusion of parity in women's football is just that... an illusion. But your attempt to deflect doesn't change what I originally asked... So I'll ask again...

I know you have some weird dislike for Bayern now, which makes young players like Bühl one of the names you'll try to attach negative bias towards; but she had at least 4-5 clear chances, and still created chances for others, during a match your saying Martens & Miedema proved their world class status by doing far less.

So where does playing for Bayern Munich decrease the potential for ANY player to improve over time...? With Bühl being a prime example of a player who you continue to discredit in the face of clear facts stating the exact opposite to ideas of young players supposed negative progress joining the games stronger clubs.

See.. you incorrectly claim Germany pass the ball too much... but ignore the stats that prove that narrative completely invalid, also highlighting how influential someone like Bühl continues to be, clearly improving as a individual player within teams styles you irrationally dislike, or don't understand.

@hotjam2 After a season she's shown a lot of progress for club and country, you claim Bühl's actually got worse since joining Bayern..; but this as she produced at least 4-5 clear chances, and still created chances for others, during a match your saying Martens & Miedema proved their world class status by doing far less.

Please explain... no deflection. In the face of stats and video evidence, where all the players are on the same field, what makes Martens & Miedema doing less, better than Bühl doing way more...?

I got two of the starters wrong from my originial prediction;. it's Schuller instead of Freigang at Striker/Feldcamp insteado ofkleinheme at CB. Scarry to see Maier out there, she pretty much stayed on Arsenal's bench the whole season. Sorry, it's geo blocked for me, will watch the game later
    E2tyQV2X0AgL5Mx.jpg
    Buhl is an good player & she has the potential, but she latelt hasn't been coming through in the clutch...and that's vs Netherlands, Chelsea, Wolfsburg or even that lose to Hoffenheim. I guess I'm looking for an STAR player. I mean look at the difference;

Netherlands with Martens & Miedema = probable 2nd best in the world

Netherlands without them _ loosing to #14 ranked Italy today

Now hope Buhl has a great gamel all she's got to beat is France's weakest player(right back Torrent

I saw it.. first match I've watched live for a long time, and like anybody with a decent understanding of players abilities, it was always 100% correct to be worried about Maier... She simply hasn't been a international level player for some time now, but these damn wnt coaches are blind to the teams need of legit progress.

Again, Kleinherne didn't get to see the field (the squads ONLY true CB), and more of the same issues with poor end product, with poor patterns of play, were on full display Vs France. But hey... don't worry right.. MVT still has another 12 months to fix this...

I have no idea what MVT actually does with these girls... but 27 god damn players selected, with these incoherent displays in team chemistry, tells me it's nothing that's going to see Germany's wnt become relevant anytime soon. The players try hard, but still don't seem to know what they're meant to be doing...:speechless:

...:ROFLMAO: Bühl is 20yo, playing a leading role within a wnt with ZERO organization, or true synergy. But your saying she should be "The Star" for club and country, even though a genuine star like Marozsan can barley make anything look good at the heart of Germany's team.

See, Marten's is 28, Miedema 24, and both part of a wnt with less talent, but FAR better coaching. Meaning everything positive that happens for them within their wnt, is completely focused around maximizing their skill sets; a luxury Bühl doesn't have.

Plus looking at club football, I know Marten's has been a long time focal point of a Barcelona side. A side who's spent YEARS building a group of players to win a WUCL, as Bayern only started to take things remotely seriously 2 years ago.

So I understand what you suggesting in Bühl being more productive, but I'd wait... and probably hold back before making assertions on her potential with Bayern; and be a bit more honest about the general malaise surrounding the wnt too, as this something she can do very little to change on her own.

Back to the friendly Vs France though... seeing Germany's defense still an unnecessary concern is baffling. Especially watching Kleinherne on the bench for 90 mins, as Lattwein was eventually brought on to allow Oberdorf to move into her best position (mid-field), very late in the match.

Exactly like it's been versus numerous opponents now, Germany's passing and movement remains extremely strained. Not taking advantage of positive attacking scenarios they do manage to find, or taking too many individual touches to move the ball forward quickly. MVT has to start from the back, and finally build a god damn team.

I feel like the constant patterns of incoherent play, will stop Germany from ever reaching it's potential. And this will once again be on full display in their next match, as MVT uses another garbage 11, filled with players in roles that make zero sense.

Maier's finished... and Rauch still can't defend properly. Using CM's as CB's is a FAILED experiment that needs to stop. The defense remains Germany's biggest self inflicted problem.

Nüsken played well again, showing the difference a real CM can make to Germany's mid-field. But Dallmann and Lohmann struggled at times to understand their roles, simply not playing fast enough, or not releasing the ball to people in better positions.

Again it was Bühl who created many of Germany's best chances, while not being able to do it on her own. Huth and Schüller were needlessly bad, with Schüller in particular not being in sync with anything that was happening around her.

Seeing Lattwein do well in CM for a few minutes, before randomly being moved back into a CB role, just shows how lost MVT still is on constructing a team from 14 players.
