In actual USL2 news, since that is what this forum is about. Cleveland Force SC are not playing in USL2 in 2021. The League recently tweeted an image about the 10 new expansion clubs for the 2021 season. They also hinted at potential expansion still to be announced. Going back to read about the Force joining USL2, it said "in the coming years." 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 🤩The #Path2Pro welcomed 10 clubs this year for the 2021 season. Call it what it is, an "opt out." This is due to the ongoing pandemic and uncertainty regarding travel between Canada and US. I would say they won't be the only one making this decision .
You are absolutely correct. The Raptors can't play in Toronto and the Canadian NHL (& AHL) teams aren't playing US teams because of travel restrictions. I haven't heard yet about the Bluejays, but MLB literally just confirmed they are planning opening day as scheduled. I'm also curious about the three Canadian MLS teams' plans.

------------------------ After reading this list a second time, that is a heck of a lot of NPSL and even UPSL teams coming over. Looking for a more stable league maybe? Or some other reasons? Are the NASL-NISA-NPSL folks upset even more now at the MLS-USLC-USL1-USL2 folks?
Paul Kennedy @pkedit 12h Soccer is back in full swing at top amateur levels after being almost entirely shut down in 2020. Right now, four leagues (USL League 2, NPSL, UPSL and NISA affiliates) have 440 teams playing vs. 388 in 2019. (I'm trying to assemble a spreadsheet breaking them down by state.)
This is USL2, right? If so, add Chicago City SC under "Future". https://www.chicagocityscusl.com/leaguetwo
Jeff Rueter @jeffrueter 1h BREAKING: MLS is finalizing a plan for a new league expected to apply for U.S. third-division sanctioning, sources tell @MLSist and me. The league would launch in 2022 with over half of MLS clubs involved — plus potential independent members. Report: https://theathletic.com/2626561/2021/06/01/mls-third-division-league/
Thank you for staying on topic. It’s hard for a certain poster. Will have to start the new list for 2022 and beyond!
================ Boy, does this get interesting. What happened to the MLS-USL "partnership" that NASL-NISA-NPSL folks always hated? - So 3rd division = USL-1, a league that is just really getting going. Thats got to hurt especially if the MLS teams pull out and move over. - Or could this be the first step in a merger or a buyout by MLS, such as creating its own pyramid ? How about--- MLS-1. (current MLS). 32 teams MLS-2. (current USL-C). 32 teams ---------------------------- (pro red between these 2 levels - keep it simple, maybe only 1 or 2 teams) (With single entity and owners owned all, finances could help drop teams) MLS-3. (current USL-1. This is your full time reserve team league for both MLS-1 & MLS-2= 64 teams divided geographical to hold travel down) MLS-4. (current USL-2/PDL. all MLS teams field a U23 team at this level ----------- Then academy underneath the U18, U16, U14, U12 etc to as low as you want to go If you were to consider the first 3 levels as professional, this would be 128 teams- THAT should give plenty of players plenty of opportunities. I will be really interested in how MLS and USL for that matter spin this. I really just can't believe MLS hasn't had some kind of discussion with USL on this. ----
Totally agree with everything you said, a couple of things that I quickly would like to add. Clearly MLS has realized that there is way more money to be made if they control the player from day one when they enter their Academy. This move would put a ton of stress on the NPSL and UPSL clubs. Apparently UPSL has already entered talks with MLS to form a "peace treaty".
