Well, duh. I was exaggerating. Here are my ratings of the ratings: Sky: 1 Evening Standard: 3 See, that's easy.
Hypothetical, would you rather he starts and plays 70, or comes off the bench at 70 with the potential for extra time and a game winner?
I want him to start, selfishly. But if I was the manager, I have to be honest - I’d make him an impact sub. The idea of him coming on at the 60 min mark vs tired legs and potentially needing him to help the team go for 120 minutes make sense to me. Of course, if it comes to penalties, I’d probably not put him in my first 5 takers.
I would rather him just go 90 and score the winner. If he comes off the bench at 70 or 75 or something and they’re down 2 goals already it’ll be pretty frustrating. They’re likely to get played off the pitch so I have a feeling it’ll be a wrap by the time he gets on.

I think that lineup by Tuchel is a mistake and it’s gonna be 3-0 by halftime. Which it might have been anyway, but that lineup is just begging for constant pressure. It’s also frustrating to see him persist with Werner when he’s done absolutely nothing to warrant this many opportunities other than be a sunk cost for the club. Not that Pulisic was great during the last 2 weeks-none of them were, but if I were Tammy Abraham I’d be out of there this summer. I suppose I should be grateful to Tuchel for saving me at least an hour where I don’t have to watch the game.
Yes I think they’ll need ~a miracle by the time Pulisic comes on. Could be 2 goal game or 3 but then they’ll be in desperation mode.
I'm happy to be a homer: Screw the logical arguments. Screw Tuchel. Screw Chelsea. I hope they get hammered, CP gets subbed on, scores and assists, then (of course) points at his watch. Note: If you come at this post with some "rational" discussion about why I shouldn't feel that way I'll just scroll past
My absolute and total dislike of City and especially Guardiola prevent me from hoping for that outcome but I think it’s exceedingly likely
Also, imaging being English and thinking Reece James was better at anything than Trent Alexander-Arnold. You could hand England prime Maradona and Cristiano Ronaldo and they wouldn’t have the first idea how to use either of them, and they’d end up shrugging their shoulders and starting like Eric Dier and Kyle Walker ahead of both.
Agree. Chelsea most likely need an early goal to win this. Our boy on the bench lessens the chance of that.
The real questions are…how many times is Timo offsides and how many shots Mount forces when dishes is the right move.
Its standard dumb coach thinking; “oh we can bring his pace in late to run at tired defenders” except City are going to have like 85% of the possession and the only tired defenders are going to be in your team.
At least Mount has value. Werner looks borderline incompetent in front of goal and what’s worse, he always looks like he can’t believe he was 6 yards off/missed an open goal
Yeah, and I posted in the CP thread that if this is the situation, Super Sub CP will be blamed for not helping Chelsea get a come from behind victory.
Mods and posters. Totally Ok if you would rather post here but I created a separate PBP to include Steffen in the thread title. Maybe we can merge? I just think this is so historic it deserves more than a all matches thread.
