One game left in our amazing championship winning season. With nothing else to play for, I think we can open the thread for the summer transfer window.

Nuno Mendes is certainly the big question for this summer. Today's rumours include Manchester United as an interested party. Nuno has a release clause of 70M euros.

But with our title win, there are other questions to be answered: Pote's value has certainly skyrocketed and will certainly be a transfer target, as did Palhinha. Joao Mario's loan ends and although Inter is willing to negotiate, his salary is a big problem and he has offers from Spain too. And there's rumours that Feddal's family wants to return to Spain.

And of course, we have so many loans to deal with. Rosier is probably the only player we can cash in on, with a 6M clause and a good season for title-winning Besiktas. Battaglia was also a regular player in La Liga, but Ilori hasn't played a single minute for Lorient, and the likes of Diaby, Eduardo, Idrissa, Camacho, and Gaspar have barely played I think. Sporar is also another case, I doubt Braga will want him - will we be able to sell him? Will we also cash in on Jovane? Are we going to be able to buy Porro?

Sporting160 reported that Man City made an offer for Nuno Mendes and Palhinha. For 80 million apparently lol. What a joke! Maybe 80 each then we're talking

Not sure how much I believe these rumours of "double player deals", I've never seen a club buy 2 players in 1 deal before.

But it would have to be irrefusable offers to negotiate, Nuno has a 70M clause and Palhinha I think has a 60M clause.

I’ll predict Mendes goes for 45 and Palhinha for 35-40. We have to be realistic, Post-Covid we aren’t going to get anywhere near that release clause seeing as the club still needs a lot of $. Would like to see us play true hardball though, and get as much as we can. This is different than with BF to ManU, as our players on the market are younger and more likely to be ok staying another year. Bruno had to leave for the club and himself.

And I hate to say it, but that BF transfer played a big part in us being champions now.

I agree with Palhinha, but Nuno Mendes has to go for over 60 at least. Kid is what, 19? And he was one of our best players this year.

18 still. And these big clubs pay more for younger stars, look at Real Madrid buying out Vinicius at like 17 for his release clause. Basically the more time you have left in your career the more they will play. Also, quality LB's are rare these days.

It's the way forward for us if we are to survive. Not everyone is a prodigy but it's worth the time and investment.

According to Record, we're in negotiations to acquire Ricardo Esgaio back from Braga (we hold 20% of his rights, and apparently not willing to pay more than 5M euros). Never really though Esgaio would be that good but he has really grown at Braga, similar to Palhinha's growth there.

Not sure how reliable, but A Bola says Guardiola really wants Nuno Mendes at City and they have 60M euros + 10M in variables (which would reach his 70M clause)

haha total opposite for me, I thought Esgaio was gonna be amazing. He lit it up in the youth teams and was unreal for the first B team. Just hasn't really progressed since then imo.

Sporting chasing Ruben Vinagre for the LB spot, that's who Amorim wants. He said he was not playing for Famalicao next season, and he belongs to Wolves (Daddy Jorge Mendes gonna help us out?)

Wouldn't be surprised if Mendes got his hands in both Nuno Mendes being sold and Vinagre coming to SCP.

Rumour from Record is that we initiated talks with Inter to keep Joao Mario.

O Jogo says that Besiktas wants Adan but we are unwilling to let him go

Finally A Bola's front page says Sporting is negotiating for Marcus Edwards, english winger from Guimaraes, which could involve swapping players. He'd be really expensive as I believe Guimaraes want something like 20 million or more for him.

    1. No way we sell Nuno Mendes for anything less than the buyout, and even that is underpriced. He's our best player.
    2. Not sure why we'd want Esgaio. Dudes ass.
    3. I'm ok with the Edwards transfer but not at the expense of Jovane.

Good points, I personally would be very happy with 60M + buy Porro for Nuno Mendes (if the rumours Man City really want him are true). Great thing is he's our academy player too so we don't owe any other club money, we get to keep most of that money (I'm sure Jorge Mendes will get on the deal and take his 10% cut).

As for Esgaio, I dont watch Braga regularly but I seem to remember he has grown a lot there similar to Palhinha, and the fact we own 20% of him could be a factor in negotiations. But it's another deal with Braga which I hate. Still, if Amorim thinks he can be important, who am I to argue? Amorim has bought himself a lot of breathing room.

Edwards will always be expensive, but I do think Sporting will take this chance to sign a really good winger which we need IMO. Not sure what Guimaraes is asking for, but I would consider maybe cash + Plata on a loan who needs playing time. Maybe throw in Ilori LOL. We do have a lot of players returning from loan we can hopefully use as a bargaining chip.

For me, if the squad stayed mostly the same and we only sell Nuno Mendes, considering we have guaranteed more games to play next season, we need:

    - 1 right back (Esgaio likely to replace Joao Pereira)
    - 1 left back (needs to be a quality starter, Antunes and Matheus Reis are backups)
    - 1 midfielder (if we can't buy Joao Mario we need to replace him with someone of equal or greater quality)
    - 1 striker (won't be a starter but needs to be good enough to replace Paulinho and hopefully light a fire in him)
    - 1 winger (needs to be above average, Edwards is a great option)

Honestly, Ryan Gauld could be a pretty interesting signing. He's had himself a great season and can play well in a few different positions.

Might as well sign Edwards simply cause he's english. Will probably get a good return on him as long as he has even a couple of good games.

Sounds like Edwards was on the verge of joining an English club but they put the value up towards the end of the negotiations

It would be funny if we had Palhinha, Esgiao and Gauld in the first team squad after all looked like their Sporting dreams had gone

Thanks JJ! He basically rejected all 3 in favour of his truck loads of older "establoshed" players

We lose out on 1 million after Villareal qualifies for CL by winning the Europa League.

Rumour from A Bola says we are interested in striker Mario Gonzalez, who played for Tondela on loan from Villareal. The 25 year old striker scored 15 goals in 27 matches for Tondela in the league. Very nice return IMO. They are asking for 5 million euros. I think he would be a great pick up, we need depth up front.

Other than that, just more rumours of clubs interested in our players. Apparently the big La Liga clubs now want Nuno Mendes, and Liverpool wants Pote.

Really hope we can keep our core team, Pote/Palhinha/Coates/Adan are the spine. If we make a big sale with Nuno + CL money it should help fund our season and balance the books.

Sell Sporar and get Mario Gonzalez

Sell Rosier for 6M and get Esgaio

We'd basically swap two flops for 2 (hopefully) quality squad players

Rosier is not a flop. Dude was one of Besiktas' best players.
