We do. But will be fork out 55M if let’s say Chelsea offer them that. Especially with precious little capital that we desperately need to bolster our attack. I think it’s super unlikely, almost impossible.
He doesn't need more playing time. He needs to get out of his own head. At this point, I'm not sure if he just doesn't have it right up there to make it or the pressure (and some of the stuff that came out from Benz/Mendy certainly didn't help) is getting to him and he's overthinking it. I don't see much progression on the offensive side, and it's not a lack of talent.
If Florentino actually wants him Hakimi will be back. If Florentino wants him, he will make us his only destination. Price isn't something Inter can inflate for a RB they can't even pay and probably still haven't paid us for
If we spent crazy money on Mbappe and failed to address midfield and RB we'd be in a horrible situation. We simply need a good RW and things are very different for us. The other issue is our speed of play, we need to much quicker and direct.
Agree with all that but I don’t know how a loan would help with it. He can go to a low pressure environment and maybe display better goal scoring ability then come back to the high pressure environment and revert back to this. I think he needs good coaching almost akin to therapy. Which is why I suggested that he might gain something from talking to Raul about the mental side of being a forward. Part of it will improve just with age too. As he matures as a man. But we can’t really wait around for that.
I was a big proponent of having Achraf play as RW when he was coming back from Germany. I figured he would be our best option ahead of all the players we had at the time and that he can fill in at RB when the annual Carva injury happens. That if we have a solid LB like Mendy we can live with having a super aggressive RWB like Achraf but don’t know what happened and he was sold. I think his RM ship might have sailed. If things were normal, finances wise, I would think it would be more likely but I just don’t see how we make him a priority even tho he would be a great option on the right side if we don’t sign a superstar to play there.
Anyone else is big downgrade compared to Mbappe. RB isn't a game changing position unless it's an all time great offensive talent (Hakimi can be at least as a wingback so far). Mbappe and Benzema together will make our attack deadly. Carvajal - Lucas RB rotation I can live with if it means we sign Mbappe and Camavinga for 230-240 ME.
Mbappe alone definitely doesn’t solve our issues. I think it needs to be two pronged. Buy high level players in positions we desperately need. Get rid of a LOT of the non contributors to help with the culture and free up wages. Both are important I think.
Apparently Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in Sancho. He's likely to go to PL given he's English. Wonder who could be our plan B if PSG doesn't sell Mbappe or if he renews until 2023 with a clause to leave next summer. Maybe we can convince Haaland to force a move like Dembele did then. Dortmund will demand 150 ME in such a scenario though.
exactly, if we simply (it hasnt been for us) had the right type of player playing in the position which is a natural fit rather than constantly shoehorning we'd be in a much position going into next season. If Alaba is truly coming that is a great utility player but we still need a midfielder, a RW, a RB and CF.
Yeah I don't think there's a playbook. All I know is next year is crucial for him (would go as far as make or break) and so hoping we make the right decision. Can't be relied upon here for this team if we're looking to compete on all fronts. RB is probably the lowest need in that list, and I'd be happy with just Lucas coming back. I'd argue we need two quality midfielders even with Alaba coming. If we address midfield and get a proper solution for RW, should bring back Jovic as I don't see any legitimate options on the market that would be worth the investment nor are we going to get much for Jovic at this point.
Haaland won't solve Real Madrid's shite offense. Benzema just had a season scoring 30 goals in a defensive minded team and the club were trophyless because the 2nd best scorer was Casemiro with 7 goals. Benzema is a Ballon d'Or candidate and hasn't shown signs of decline.
Benz has indicated he wants to go back to Lyon to retire there and Florentino will honour that. Seems to be in the picture for either next summer or the one after that.
Benzema also indicated he wants to stay at Real Madrid while still in his prime as a starter instead of riding the bench & collect money as a dead weight. https://tribuna.com/en/news/realmad...en-to-extend-karim-benzemas-contract-to-2023/ Benzema's game isn't reliant on pace and he takese excellent care of himself. He can easily still be a top class player for 3-4 years.
I have seen Aouar mentioned a few times in here, and tbh he has had a very disappointing season this year. Rudi Garcia is a donkey, but its still concerning how instead of pushing on from a very impressive season last year, Aouar cant even start consistently. I do agree though that we NEED fresher younger bodies in midfield. I want to see Valverde starting next season, hope he can keep fit for longer stretches than he did this year. Camavinga is a must too, especially with his contract situation. I like Blanco and I think he is ready for a promotion. I think we should move on from Isco, but we should look to get someone as a creative option to replace his (expected but mostly lacking) output. Odegaard I am indifferent towards though he fills that need, probably best to cash in and get Kubo or someone else.
Now that we have officially started summer transfers thread I want to make a request. We have a lot of posters who post tweets or news links regarding rumors and such. Notable amongst them are Miaminative, Saeta Rubia, Lyra and Drouchk. We greatly appreciate your effort. I just want to ask one favor, you are all seasoned fans and have a good grasp of the game and the Spanish media specifically, when you read a rumor or tweet kindly consider the source first and then decide whether it’s reliable or serious enough to post or not. The thread will be a lot more orderly if all of us are more discerning. Thank you again to all who contribute in bringing news and discussion topics to this thread. Let’s have a great summer and of course.....
Just sell hazard , Marcelo , isco, varane , Mariano, asensio, Let Lucas, Ramos (free) go, bale Move Migual, Marvin, arribas, Duro, victor to first team Bring back odegaard kubo, brahim Hope Alaba is already set to come. Buy ; 1. Forward 2.RB 3.defensive midfielder back up for casemiro 4.RW/LW
If Benzema still performs at his current level 3 years later and Real Madrid still fails, then others player haven't stepped up.
Thisi s the point where people are going to put together horrible fantasy teams with 20 or so new players and think it will be the way forward.
ℹ️ If by August 1, PSG are not able to renew Mbappe's contract - they'll be open to a sale. Kylian wants sporting guarantees if those are met, he'll renew. [@lequipe] 🇫🇷— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) May 23, 2021 Already getting tiresome for me.
We'd be making an essential mistake if we go into next season with Vinicius as the starting LW. If I'm being honest here, and I really don't want to sound like a pessimist here (I was always high on him), I have never seen a young talent being provided with as many opportunities as Vini has had at the club. The club has been doing everything within their power to develop him into the star they expected him to become. He's still very young, but I see the same shortcomings that he's had when he was playing in Brazil and in his starting days at the club, i.e. lack of football IQ, mediocre decision-making, major shortcomings in his basic passing and shooting technique (as in, it seems he simply doesn't know how to pass or shoot. He always seems to stumble over his own feet when attempting a pass or shot). This is different from, let's say, a Higuain who needed to work on his finishing, but possessed the absolute basics and only needed that final (ketchup) push from Ruud. This is more substantial. Let's be clear – I really like Vini. He works extremely hard, wants to succeed at the club, doesn't get himself into any off the field nonsense etc. But at the end of the day, we need to strive towards a situation where our starters are within the best in the world in each position, and he sadly is far from that (and the question is whether he'll ever be). I think the club didn't want to throw him into a starting role this soon, but unfortunately Hazard decided to just retire altogether. Having said the above, I'm probably not opposed to keeping him as a supersub for next season. He's terrible for any fullback when he's on and can provide some spark from that role.
