Sorry, pretty sure obesity is the National Official Disease Partner. Local franchisees don't have discretion :)

Oddly, I ran into (PRO AR - AVAR for tomorrow's match) Mike Kampmeinart and he told me this. It's interesting - it started at PPP, moved to Stanford, and now we're back at PPP. I know most folks disagree, but I hope it stays here. This is our home!

I'm wondering if, perhaps, they were skeptical about being able to sell out Stanford right now, and having a full-house at home is vastly preferable to a half-empty Stanford Stadium, IMO.

In the press release it says the Classico will return to Stanford in 2022. It said that Stanford was unable to do full occupancy this year - so i guess that's the main reason it's at PPP.

Season ticket holders get their seats back!!!

They encourage everyone coming to PPP to get vaccinated. They will follow county mask guidelines.

Little by little, ready or not, life is going back to normal.

Says we have two DP slots open. Not sure where this info is coming from. Shouldn’t be hard for everyone to know that Chofis is our big-time DP (along with Espinoza, of course) and we have only one DP slot open.

According to MLS roster, Espinoza and Chofis are DP's. We've known this for a while. But Chofis as DP - it's just a techicality. It could just as easily be Fierro or Rios or even Alanis based on salary :-(. It's just a question of where you put your TAM / GAM $

That's why I say: we're cheap, but that doesn't mean we also have to be dumb. Can we at least be cheap and smart - cause right now we're both cheap and dumb. We should be doing much, much better than Chofis, Rios, Fierro for nearly $1 million apiece.

So the Quakes have basically watered down the whole DP concept so it means nothing when applied to San Jose?

Kind of. But the point is that you could get some needle-moving talent for $1 million x 3. We've failed.

Somebody wrote an article about this a couple years ago. They coined the term 'true dp' which is a dp that couldn't be bought down with TAM.

A DP is any player that costs more than 600k per year (salary + fee/year) and is not paid for with TAM.

Any player who costs more than 1.6m /year can't be paid for with TAM.

Espinoza and Vako (in his last year) were the only 'true dps' we've ever had.

Nobody else on our roster would qualify as a 'true dp'.

When we signed Chofis he was not announced as a DP. I believe the plan was to pay him with TAM. However Jesse said they decided to not use TAM on Chofis so that he can use it on a summer signing.

That tells us that whoever we end up signing this summer could have a salary as high as Chofis's salary (860k) because we know for sure we have enough TAM to buy down that much at least.

Just took a look at the Quakes schedule. After Saturday's game, we have another 3 in a row on the road! Then one home game, then 2 more on the road. We finish fairly home heavy. So really the season comes in three segments: home heavy, really road heavy, home heavy. Most likely by the end of the "really road heavy" segment, we will be in last place or close to it. That's just the way it is. MLS teams don't win on the road very often, and we especially don't.

So this forum is going to be a horrific whinefest for the next month or two. Fisher out!! Fire Almeyda!! Jesse out!! Yada yada. But there's a chance the team can make another end of season run, if they get an acquisition or two that moves the needle and they don't completely lose confidence and implode at the end of the rode heavy segment. If they're smart, they'll lay for that last stretch, but they're going to have to weather of lot of crap leading up to it.

We need to find a way to off load Rios and Fierro...you can't have remarkably poor finishers like that in critical attacking positions...bottom line they have to be moved out...transfer....pay half their salaries for the new team... whatever...eat the cost. The team can't function with that level of scoring ineptitude. They've both proven it time and time again. We made a mistake picking them up, Rios especially is eating up valuable starter minutes...and that is completely Almeyda's poor decision. Cade is still a work in progress but he still gives us way more up top than Rios.

Freaking drop Rios and bring in a new forward, or play Cade up top for the remainder of the season...he'll only get better with sustained minutes.

We were so much more dynamic rolling with Cade at the start of the season. Then Rios comes back into the picture and we literally faceplant up top...

Yes, and that was brutal - that may have killed our season. But we also lost our first 3 home games or so in 2019 and then went on a roll. Past performance is not a determiner of future results.
