to your point, in japan, the baseball teams are all owned by and named after corporations, so fans of those teams are literally rooting for a company. no hiding behind that.
Well, I hope you have learned your lesson! [emoji6] Actually, he states it in post 2300, just not as explicitly. I should have quoted both posts for purposes of clarification. Good point.
I decided to look up some Sub-Saharan CAF domestic team names and Botswana was the first (and only) country I looked at. Hilarious. Those big companies (keiretsu) are a lot different than even the huge conglomerates in the US. They function almost like collectives. They are basically expected to employ their new hires for life. The employees exercise together at work in the morning and eat/drink together in the evening, basically only returning home to sleep if at all. Often times you see whole divisions sleeping in McDonald's together overnight (only place open 24 hours). I stopped in one night for a late night snack after some clubs in Tokyo and it looked like there had been some kind of gas attack or something. It was one of the four thousand times I wandered around completely confused about what was happening around me and wondering if I was on drugs and just forgot. Another time I was walking in a park at 10am and was suddenly part of a staged power rangers versus some anime characters battle. Some shirtless rockabilly guy and his poodle skirt wearing girlfriend pulled me out. What were we talking about again?
The Columbus Crew didn’t want to seem more European? Had me fooled. If they’re so concerned about being “authentic” they should go back to their Village People logo.
Bayern is just the name of the state. The Bundesliga team with the corporate name is Bayer Leverkusen.
Like Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg's ownership by Volkswagen is also grandfathered by the German Federation.
Speaking of Columbus, does anyone know why a bunch of teens in Crew gear were at the Chipotle in Waukegan Sunday? Serious WTF moment, as I was stopping there on the way home from Ohio.
Because a Chipotle in Waukegan is about as high a culture as people from Columbus can associate with?
Bigger "WTF moment" - What the f*ck are you doing going to Chipotle in Waukegan? There are dozens of very good Mexican Restaurants in Waukegan. Hell, even up here in Northern Wisconsin, I won't go to Chipotle. Seriously, I expect better of you, man. Oh, wait, you were coming back from Ohio, so that explains it. Your brain must have been infected with Ohio blandness This.
Props to the Crew for quickly reversing a bad decision in the face of overwhelming fan discontent. Too bad Mr. Mansueto didn't act as swiftly for his error in November 2019. I won't dump on the guy too much, since a change was eventually made, but I regret that he wasn't as sympathetic to supporter opinions compared with the Haslam's. They also built an MLS Cup winning side, whereas we are as bad as ever.
the crew also kind of lucked out because their logo got leaked and hadn't been put on merch or the uniforms yet. only seen on websites right now. the original version had that weird little triangle in the corner that looked out of place which has been replaced by a 96. if i was a conspiracy theorist, i'd say that was the plan the whole time, but i don't think anyone would be stupid enough to invite backlash like that.
If we are to believe the Adidas timelines given on this board, dictating a minimum of 6 months lead time for merchandise with a new logo (remember the Fire submitted their new logo to Adidas in August 2019), then the Crew won't have any new t-shirts or jerseys to buy until November. If you see Crew gear before that time, then the Fire are full of sh*t and I'd like to know why.
Wife likes the place, plus we could preorder from the highway. It's not as bad as I remember, possibly an entire step above Taco Bell. But yes, on a normal day I'd prefer one of the 6 family owned restaurants within a mile of my house. Still wanna know what the Crew's dev. squad was doing in Fountain Square on a Sunday night.
It’s elevated Taco Bell, and only slightly elevated at that, and only depending on how high I am when I order. Gahd I love some horrible food.
