Wednesday 12 May 2021 Stamford Bridge USA TV: NBCSN 3:15pm ET Both teams come off satisfying wins, although Chelsea's was just a tad more impressive than ours. Sure they might throw out a few second-teamers on Weds, given that they want to hoist the FA Cup 4 days later. But since both of their 2 games after us are “only” Leicester, perhaps they can put out a stronger side for us. Plus they'll be quite motivated to beat us and qualify for UCL. Anyway, given their dramatically improved form under Tuchel, I’d say that if we took 1 point from this game it would be supreme triumph. I’ve assimilated the mid-table mindset quite well don’t you think?
I have incredibly low expectations for this one. Chelski is in form, and we clearly aren't. So logically we will thump them 5-0, with Willian netting a hat trick against his former club.
Tuchel on Aubameyang. https://www.espn.co.uk/football/chelsea-engchelsea/story/4382661/ “He will still in some way always be my player.” "You want them to succeed and have a good time wherever they are. This contact never fully stopped and it is nice to see him because he is always on for a hug and it is nice to hug and see him laugh.” Apparently he used to lie to Aubameyang about meeting times. It’s worth a read.
From NBCSports.com... Chelsea: QUESITONABLE: Mateo Kovacic (thigh) | OUT: Andreas Christensen (thigh) Arsenal: QUESTIONABLE: David Luiz (thigh), Emile Smith Rowe (thigh), Pablo Mari (ankle) | OUT: Granit Xhaka (hamstring)
3-4-3 with Saka at RWB? 🚨 Five changes from Sunday...➡️ Mari, Partey, Tierney, Odegaard, Aubameyang⬅️ Chambers, Ceballos, Pepe, Willian, Martinelli#CHEARS pic.twitter.com/E5cK5urSa9— Arsenal (@Arsenal) May 12, 2021
Trust the process or whatever. My guess on how this one plays out is that we cross the ball like 34 times and get absolutely crushed through the middle of the park. Also we're starting Saka at RWB and have three right backs on the bench lmao
Hmm... back 3... we don't play that too much any more. Hope they can click back into that shape OK. On the other side... Kepa. That made me smile a bit when I saw him starting. He's always got a howler in him, so maybe just maybe tonight... COYG!!!!
Saka migrates today from LB back to RWB and/or RW. But we the other big "migration" is WBA to Chelsea, so I'm not sure how many comparative conclusions we'll be able to draw.
Yeah seems a little risky. Hope it doesn't fall into the Arteta (Guardiola?) too-clever-by-half meme. Like the false 9 a few games ago.
Our own version of The Tinkerman. What kind of odds can you get on Arteta winning the league with Leicester in 30 years?
IDK but it certainly won't be with Arsenal. Unless he comes back for a late career swan song. I'll probably be dead by then so as BigMan likes to say... who cares?
Exactly. I didn't exactly expect that. Kepa actually did well to palm it off the line. Luckily MO (Edit: actually Auba) & ESR kept their cools. To the Arsenal 1-0
