Looks like Comcast has it coming on at 10:30 tonight, on channel 720 (NBC). I signed up for ESPN+ (previously) and kept meaning to cancel (as the $5.99 charge was ongoing forever and ever, apparently) but now I see they have it on at 6:30, which is live, presumably. so, if that works out maybe I keep ESPN+. if there's a local market blackout glitch though, so long ESPN+.

I really want to see the Quakes score 5 on Ochoa. So... Cade hat trick? Maybe Rios? Then a Wondo coup de grace? Then the Quakes can sign the ball before Ochoa kicks it into the stands.

I won't be able to watch the game live but I have ESPN Plus and live in the Bay area. I know it will be blacked out live since im in SF, but will I be able to watch it as a replay tomorrow morning?

I have never found an end to the ESPN+ blackout on locals, I believe it is a forever thing.

I installed the NBC Sports app, realized I could not find the game AND there was no search button (what?) and uninstalled. I'm sure we'll figure it out, and if not, there's radio!

Yeah, the lack of search is appalling.

Hanging several goals on Ochoa while keeping a clean sheet would be awesomely tasty!!

But it’s not going to happen. We’re going to get crushed. (And haters will have plenty of negative things to say about JT).

    Go Quakesfans!!

    :eek::eek::eek: ... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Okay, seriously guys. The NBC Sports app is not that hard to use.

The game will be listed under the first two tabs ("Featured" and "Live", respectively) much closer to gametime. Under the first tab, the two teams' logos (in today's case, the Earthquakes' and RSL's) will be visible, while it'll be listed in text under the second tab.

The first time you log into the app, it will ask you for your TV provider. Log in as you would on that TV provider's website (i.e. it'll ask for your username and password), but it shouldn't ask you again the next time you log in. If it loops once, wait a few seconds and it should resolve itself. And yes, YouTube TV is one of the accepted TV providers. ;)

As for blackouts, in-market questions, ESPN+, etc., I was recently asked this via e-mail for an out-of-town Earthquakes fan who was trying to decide between getting either the MLS Direct Kick package or ESPN+. Here's my e-mail response (with the names redacted to protect the innocent ;)):

    -----------------

    Hi **** and ****,

As far as MLS coverage goes, the MLS Direct Kick package and the ESPN+ package are basically the same thing but for different platforms: the former shows regional games from all over the league on cable and satellite TV providers such as Comcast, DirecTV, DISH Network, etc., while the latter does the same if you're watching on your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Notice that I write "regional", meaning such channels as NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California. Neither package has ever broadcast nationally-televised games, which are the games on ABC, ESPN/ESPN2, FOX, FOX Sports 1, Univision, Unimás and TUDN. Those can be watched on TV on their respective channels anywhere in the U.S. (as well whatever the national channels are for Canada) and are streamed online on those channels' respective apps.

**** is correct that **** should have no problem watching Quakes regional games (i.e. the NBC Sports Bay Area/California ones) via either the MLS Direct Kick package or the ESPN+ app since North Carolina most decidedly is "out-of-town". ;) On the other hand, those games would be blacked out on those packages for those of us in Northern California because those games are ALREADY being broadcast on either NBC Sports Bay Area or NBC Sports California and are already being streamed on the NBC Sports app.

    I hope that helped. :)

    NBCSports is killing me.

In the app I got into a loop on trying to sign in to youtubetv. On the website, from my MacBook I can see upcoming games but there doesn't seem to be a way to access previous games in order to do a "test". Next game is 6pm tonight, so I think that's the earliest I can do a "test" for web streaming.

It's not that it's "hard", it's that it doesn't work for me, possibly due to old iOS. Never "resolves".

On Comcast they're showing the game again tomorrow at 5:00pm on channel 721. :)

The fact that we have to jump through hoops to watch and support our team is ridiculous.

After all, notice that the Giants, A's, Warriors and Sharks games aren't listed there at the moment either.

Update: I was able to test youtubetv login hand-off from nbcsports.com on my macbook (web stream) by backing out of /bayarea and clicking on an EPL game. Login hand-off seemed to work, so I think there's hope.

I got the tv app working and the game is now showing up under the 'upcoming' section, so I think I'm all set.

    But what a PITA.

I understand having Quakes games on NBC Sports is an obvious choice but last week we missed the first few seconds of the game and this week we have to work with a terrible app or web page.

I hope going forward the tv deals can be split between cable and streaming. Let NBC show the games on cable, but partner with someone else to do the streaming.

YouTube - by far the easiest most ubiquitous streaming platform by far. Rock solid and good picture quality.

ESPN+ - already does a great job with MLS out of market

    Paramount+ - has done a great job with UCL/Europa League/etc.

Amazon prime - Apparently they're taking over Thursday night football. My guess is they won't screw it up.

Peacock+ - NBC should figure out a way to merge local content to peacock as this is the streaming platform they're focused on.

I would be happy to pay for any of those services if they had 100% of the Quakes games and let me rewatch games on demand whenever I want.

Don't forget that, as was already stated, the nationally-televised games have their own streaming apps. For example, an Earthquakes game on FOX Sports 1 would be streamed on the FOX Sports app.

Since MLS controls the national TV and streaming contracts (as opposed to the Earthquakes controlling the TV and streaming contracts with both NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California), the league and the national channels would both need to be brought into those negotiations as well which would likely complicate matters since unlike with just the Earthquakes, the league would have to negotiate the same for all the MLS teams, which could then become a massive contractual cluster**** for it.

Realistically, the way it is now is likely the best it could be after taking everything into account.

I asked over on the RSL boards if they knew of any way to watch tonight's match and this was the reply i received :

It usually stream on the following link without a paywall...unless it is geoblocked. I've watched it out of market many times but not sure if I had to use my vpn. https://video.ksltv.com/rslonksl. ESPN+ stream should be live as well.

I'm going to give it a try because.....why not? :)

You may need to hop through a Utah area VPN as I believe KSL applies geofiltering.

That's an official stream linked from the RSL website. The only question would be if they effectively geofence it.
