In Utah, once you leave SLC you're in deepest, whitest, Redneckistan. I lived in Idaho for six years and felt that even SE Idaho looks cosmopolitan next to Utah...
Time to get back to an average team with a 2-2 record. We lose when JT kicks the ball off the back of Flo's head resulting in the first goal. Second goal is when TT does a bicycle clearance into our won goal. Two own goals. Go Quakes!
BROADCAST UPDATETomorrow's match will only be streamed live through the @NBCSAuthentic App to authorized cable and satellite subscribers. The match will also air live on the radio in English @KNBR 1050 and Spanish @kzsf1370 as normal.https://t.co/Hvj7q2un40— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) May 6, 2021
Yeah, whats the point of having a 696-2 and 698-2 for directv viewers if you're not gonna use it for games with conflicting times.
YouTube TV still has the game listed on the NBC Sports Bay Area channel (which is one of 3 local NBC sports channels). Maybe it just hasn't been updated yet? EDIT: very doubtful the game will play live on YouTube TV as Giants, A's, and Sharks will take up all 3 of the channels.
It would be interesting to see how many people actually end up using the NBC app to watch the game. I suspect not many. I have the app already installed on my tv but it's such a pain to use as it never remembers my youtube tv subscription - I have to authenticate through the browser almost every time.
YoutubeTV has the game listed as delayed (10:30pm). I'm going to see if I can watch it thru the app at game time, but if not I'll be a hermit until 10:30 and watch it then.
I really only feel the SLC altitude if I go to Park City, which is over 7000 feet. But I'm not playing soccer. Since I'm on the RSL mailing list, I can report that the temperature is forecast to be 70 degrees and cloudy, and the team is offering vaccinations all day at its academy site a few miles away. (Why they can't inject people at the game itself, they do not say.)
OK, I attempted the NBC Sports app via youtubeTV thing, and it doesn't seem to be working correctly for me. Could be due to an older iOS version on my phone (and old phone). But after getting taken to youtubeTV login from NBC Sports App, I log in, and then I'm taken to a screen to open NBC Sports app (which, um, I had just come from into youtubeTV signin). I click "open" and it asks me to log in to my provider which I had just done. So it appears I'm in "a loop". It also is not easy to find the Quakes game. I finally found it under a NBC Sports CA heading that was hard to find, but not under “soccer”. Premiership games are all over the place, like that's the only soccer that exists in the world kind of thing.
Hmmmm. I can see the game on ESPN+. Maybe it’s because I’m out of market? Or maybe it won’t work when I try it!! Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
Now getting confused... ESPN+ will show the game four hours delayed? So the only way to go is via the NBC app which is apparently terrible? (Def the way to build a fanbase, make games as inaccessible as possible!)
The NBC Sports website also lists the game: https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/stream, which could be an alternative to the app. The first away game at Houston wasn't on the website, so I installed the app on our two home computers. Confusing. I had even sent an (unanswered) email inquiry to the NBC Sports Bay Area support contact to find out if the Houston game would be available on the website.
Used to be very easy for a Dish subscriber like me to watch the game on my phone or TV before Dish and NBCSports got into the spat they are in. In any case I am out of luck this week being in a place with very anemic connectivity.
It's bullshit. If you want to alienate your fans they're going about it in the right way. So my options are to stay up until after midnight or use a crappy app to watch the game. Terrific.
Another option that might work, though more costly ($89 per year), is to sign up for MLS Direct Kick. I subscribe to it and it is showing up on Ch. 471 on my Direct TV, so I assume I will get it. Direct Kick blacks out the game locally, but since the Quakes are on the road I should be able to watch it. My guess is that it is the RSL feed.
Wow. Just installed the NBC Sports app on my tablet. I can’t even see MLS in their menu anywhere. Yeah, that’s a freaking great partnership!! It doesn’t look like I’ll be able to see the game on the app. Brilliant! Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
As someone mentioned you should be able to stream from your laptop / desktop thru their web site though not sure if the Youtubetv auth handoff will work in a browser environment either. Also there is noise about Flash so not sure if MacOS is supported. I did see it listed as supported, but not sure about additional requirements. The game is listed at 6:30 there.
For in-market people who have never used the NBC app, I would suggest doing a test run. If you can log in, find the replay section, and turn on yesterday's Warriors or A's game, that should show that you have the correct access. You should also be able to find tonight's game listed in the "Upcoming" section.
Yep, I got the NBC Sports app working on my tv, but in the 'upcoming' section it doesn't list the Quakes. The NBC Sports website does list the Quakes at 6:30pm. So, I'm sure I'll find a way to watch the game, but I just don't know how yet.
Thanks. I was planning on using ESPN+ anyway. Nevertheless, I’m shocked that NBC Sports doesn’t have a filter for MLS. In the NBC Sports Bay Area, there’s no option to choose Earthquakes for alerts. It’s like we don’t exist. And these are supposed to be our partners? Someone at Quakes Central should have their foot up NBC’s butt right now. Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
