Haven't mentioned before (pointless anyway if you don't understand Dutch, or maybe Youtube auto translate can work it's magic) but there is a weekly Eredivisie podcast (one of the regular presentors is Merel v. Dongen's twin sister, Sanne vD, in this episode from home as also tested positive for covid19):

This week the Feyenoord Women's new headcoach was announced by Manon Melis (someone from within). Also on the show: new Wolfsburg coach Tommy Stroot (might be half-Dutch or grown up in that region, his Dutch is quite good and even has the local accent; though you can still pick up the German accent as well. Then again he's been there for 5 years already I hear now which would be long enough to pick it up) Also watchable on Youtube:

Van Veenendaal also let in a goal directly from a corner kick taken by Renate Jansen in Sunday's game between Twente and PSV. Final result Twente 2, PSV 1 (could have done better on the second goal as well). Twente taking over the #1 spot from PSV with this result ... (everyone beating everyone here lately, The Hague over Twente, Twente over PSV, PSV over Ajax and Ajax over Twente).

How has Pelova played this year for Ajax? I have to think she's ready to join a bigger club, as have Wilms and Smits. She's a good player.

When she turns it on she is definitely national team material but I don't know if she's hungry enough to make it to the next level. She needs to get mad first before the best comes out :D:cool:, and since Ajax have been struggling somewhat since the winterbreak she has been getting annoyed quite regularly and shown some real quality and pace (though often not with any end result but I blame the tactics/ coaching here as they never seemed to play with any structure up until the last couple of games; coincidentally started when the headcoach had to stay away due to covid test results :whistling:)
.I have actually been thinking of getting the Ajax Women shirt with Pelova on it but still on the fence about it (edit: seems to have sold out in the meanwhile). So far she has not really shown anything memorable during her time at Ajax, 'happy' to be a role player ... (too many captains on the Ajax ship, the one and only real leader to me seems to be vd Bighelaar).

A blogger with contacts at Wolfsburg has reported that Jill Roord might be joining that club. She apparently knows and has a good relationship with the Wolfsburg coach, I assume from her days of playing in the Bundesliga. The author of Arseblog, Arsenal's good blog, relayed the rumor and noted that Arsenal has been working to extend Roord's contract--which I read has at least another year to run--but nothing has been finalized.

Arsenal coach Joe Montemurro brought Roord to Arsenal and is high on her, but various Arsenal blog commentators seem to believe that she's not been a good fit with the club. It's hard to say: Arsenal has a lot of good midfielders--Van de Donk, Little, Walti, Nobbs, in addition to Roord--but the midfield struggled in some big games and I'm not sure Montemurro ever figured out what his best lineup was, and it changed a lot owing to injuries and other issues. Little, for example, missed a big chunk of the season, including some of the team's most important games. Some of those who claim Roord is not a good fit are, it should be said, English fans who think English player Nobbs should be playing more. Roord has three hat tricks this year, I believe, but like everybody on the team, she's a lot more productive/effective when the team is playing the bottom half of the league table than the big clubs at the top.

Wolfsburg already have four Dutch players--Janssen, Van de Sanden (I'd never heard that she switched to Wolfsburg), and Smits and Wilms are soon to join the club.

Wolfsburg's new coach, I just read, will be Tommy Stroot, who has been at Twente for the last four or five years. I assume that he is the coach that Roord knows, or is familiar with, and so one could see how there might be mutual interest between player and new coach.

If you would read the Germany thread you would know that the new Wolfsburg coach is Tommy Stroot who has coached Jill Roord at Twente and that Stephan Lerch will coach the Hoffenheim under 17 boys next season.

Kicker said that Jill Roord signed for two years back in 2019, so she actually might be a free agent in June. There is a lot of uncertainty at Arsenal with a new manager and the club looks to cut the budget, which means lack of competitiveness next season. I don't think Roord will be the only one to leave Arsenal. Also Jasmina is well versed with what happens at Wolfsburg, so her info is coming from the horses' mouth over there.

Roord's father is also the technical director for the Twente women so pretty sure there is a really short line of communication there ;). Roord is someone I would like to see going to Barcelona where she could really learn a thing or two ...

I could see Roord being the player Wolfsburg missed since Harder's move to Chelsea. Obviously they are not on the same level (yet), but Roord can play as an attacking midfielder, false nine, and winger as well.

That "yet" seems to imply that you could see Roord reaching Harder's level: is she really potentially so strong? I'll admit I don't follow her enough to gauge, but Harder's level looks like a quite high standard to me.

I think Roord is probably a bit less pure skill than Harder. However, Roord is a great team player. Back in the Bayern years, she adapted very well as a holding midfielder and she can still play on this position. That's probably a bit different from Harder, who is more of a star. In FIFA ratings terms, I think Harder is a 90+ rated player, while Roord will probably not top 85-87, but you would still put her on the field.

I meant the comment in terms of what Wolfsburg has been lacking this year, and it is clearly a complete advanced midielder/false nine, with an ability to score a lot of goals (playing together with Popp)

Mark Parsons? Hmmm: Seems an odd choice--to me, anyway--and can't say that I like it. I'm not sure why I don't like it, but I don't.

Yes, that is the word--but it's not yet been made official by the KNVB. It's very unusual for the Dutch to hire a coach who is not Dutch--partly because the Dutch have a playing style that they almost always stick to--the 4-3-3--and because there have always been a lot of good coaches in the Dutch ranks. Dutch coaches are generally very highly regarded internationally. I think the KNVB surely wanted a female Dutch coach to succeed Wiegman but there was a scarcity of candidates--the only one who might have been offered the job didn't feel she was ready for it, apparently--and I presume no male Dutch coaches jumped out as an obvious choice. Parsons is young and has strong credentials--I didn't realize he'd coached Chelsea from 2004 to 2010. He's been successful at Portland, but I never expected a NWSL coach to get the job. I wouldn't say Parsons is the best coach in the NWSL--Paul Riley of the Courage would be my pick for best. Parsons has benefited from the fact that Portland has been the strongest franchise in the American pro league for years--a nice stadium, a big and loyal fan base, and they've had a lot of talent. I don't really know anything about his coaching style or personality--but of course one hopes the players respond to him. It's going to be quite different for both Parsons and players, especially because it's a veteran Dutch squad that's had a lot of success, and there will be expectations with the next Euro championship just a little over a year away. Wiegman will be under even more pressure with England--a talented team who, as host country, will be very hungry for a title--but Parsons will feel it, too!

Think he go for it? Or stay with Portland? Emma Hayes has been discussed about running the England women’s team but she was focused on Chelsea and winning the CL for couple of years.

Chelsea just signed Aniek Nouwen. Very good move for her. She is going to be a good player.

    https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...ficial-chelsea-fcw-sign-aniek-nouwen-from-psv

This morning, Chelsea confirmed the signing of 22-year-old center back Aniek Nouwen from Dutch champions PSV.

That’s right, fresh off of lifting the WSL trophy and even before Sunday’s Women’s Champions League Final, Emma Hayes and Chelsea found time to preempt everyone’s (read: my) postseason observations by securing a new signing in an area of need. Nouwen is a right-footed center back who made her senior team debut for the Netherlands national team five days before her twentieth birthday.

Nouwen is a highly skilled and highly sought-after defender who’s progressed steadily throughout her already lengthy Eredivisie career. She made her debut for PSV when at just 16-years-old and has racked up over 100 appearances as a mainstay of their back line.

I’m going to hold off a bit on saying it’s a very good move for her. It’s not the level of competition that James would face, but I’m still not sure this is the best move when it comes to optimal playing time for development. It’s certainly a very good move for Chelsea though.

Emma Hayes skeleton in her cupboard probably prevents her from getting the England job.

Ok, I take the bait: what's the skeleton in Emma Hayes' cupboard?

You mean Hayes comments on need for smaller ball, goals and pitch for women's football? I'd say not likely. Neville was preaching bikini football and got the job anyway.
My guess is it has more to do with her skills.
Almost 10 years on the job and 5 UWCL apperances for Chelsea looks decent at first glance...but to get to the final she had to buyout Harder and Leupolz from German clubs in order to finally get past them (old Lyon's tactic) and hire Kerr - best striker from NWSL.
Hard to emulate the same strategy in NT ;)

The FA removed a former England manager for something she has done in the past.
    It's about her personal life.
