I would agree that the same would could be true with COVID long term. But the prevailing thinking right now is that if we hit x per cent vaccinated people in the US then we can achieve herd immunity. Like, immediately. And regardless where other countries stand.

Also, since measles doesn't really mutate I'm not sure the comparison works.

 

I can answer for him: logistical. He's "complained" about it often. I'd be upset too.

 

It's not limited to Florida, though. It's a progressive school where this mindset is prevalent. See the measles outbreak in NYC at a private progressive school, the whopping cough outbreak at a school in Canada, and a chicken pox outbreak in North Carolina. There's a reason the antivax movement is associated with affluent left wing enclaves.

Much as I'm more left leaning than my parents, I'm grateful they didn't send me to such schools. (Although my mom did consider sending me to Catholic school).

The crazy thing is that Dutch births are up big in March 2021...not enough to balance out 2020, but enough to say "Brummie was wrong." I thought births would stay down in all 2020.

Although the reason why births are up in March is precisely why they will collapse again in August and September...

Just to add, the reason I say affluent left wing enclaves is that these types of schools are not cheap, tend to embrace a more progressive mindset (95% chance there's a "In this house we believe" yard sign), and tend to live in more well off places. I can't speak for Calgary, but I would not be surprised if the students and parents lived in well off neighborhoods.

 

As I'm sure you're aware the progressivism in those areas is largely of the White Savior variety.

 

Wealthy, yes, sure.

A left wing enclave though? Highly unlikely. Not in Calgary.

From a political stand point, Alberta is very much like our (insert a random red state in the US Bible belt). They have elected a left leaning government once in the last 70 years.

I dont have a particular opinion on your overall point. But there is no way this school is a progressive left wing hub.
