I mentioned this earlier but it is nice to see replays of Champions League matches on TV this past weekend. (Something that did not happen when Turner had the rights.)

That's cool. What channel(s) did they air those replays on? (My DVR didn't pick them up automatically like it often does)

Also, I wonder what's the deal with the finals of both UCL & UEL... are they going to live only on digital or will they be simulcast on a TV channel (in English)?

The Champions League Final will be live on CBS. (The real one you can get OTA on rabbit ears.)
Europa will only be streamed in English on Paramount.

Wow, that's a revelation. Maybe it was discussed before but I missed or forgot it. Better late than never??

From my cable guide it looks like they're carrying both UCL semi's live this week on CBSSN.

Also, they seem to have replays of UEL matches, just without the clubs named. But I'm assuming that the 2 re-airs represent the 2 semis.

Still if I want to watch UEL semi(s) live it's either Paramount+ streaming, or maybe TUDN en espanol.

It really must be a ratings/money thing. They can show commercials every few minutes on Jim Rome vs a live game (and fewer commercials.)

I really wonder why Jim Rome is on TV. Does he really need the money? There's absolutely nothing visual about it.

I'd guess that if CBS could sell on-screen advertising for UEFA CL (think of MLS on ESPN), they would. Nothing huge, but a small logo next to the score/time bug.

Then again, Jim Rome might be contractually obligated to be on CBS SN, whereas Paramount/CBS bought the rights to air UEFA...and does UEFA really care where their games are shown?

I vaguely remember some sort of requirement that the final be aired on TV on a channel available to X% of the population, but...the more I think about it, that could be a World Cup requirement. In other words...if the requirement is still in place, the World Cup would never go paywall-only. Plus, that would be total idiocy by whoever would do such a thing.

Maybe, but that might be overthinking it. I think they just want the content on Paramount+ so people have to sign up. They are probably contracted to put the final on broadcast CBS and the semis or some minimum number on cable (CBSSN). They probably do the minimum they are contractually required, and want the rest of Paramount+ so people sign up and pay them 5 bucks. No one is signing up for cable or demanding CBSSN because of a Champions League semifinal that is already on TV free in Spanish and only 5 bucks to stream in English.

Apparently there's no clear cut forum to post this, so here goes...

Anybody know anything about this Sunday's Women's UCL Final being broadcast/streamed in USA?

I looked up this page https://www.livesoccertv.com/match/3992902/chelsea-fc-vs-barcelona/ which implies there are no USA TV broadcast rights.

So what about their listing of Youtube... could it be live streamed there somehow?

I saw discussion on twitter about this, I think the only place you will be able to see is UEFA TV's free stream

Thx. Didn’t know UEFA had a free stream. Is it obvious from their main website?

UEFA TV is an app for phones and TVs pretty good.

Ok. I don’t want to watch on my tiny phone screen. Either on my Windows laptop or on my Roku/TV. Any chance UEFA TV app works on either of those last two platforms?

Not on Roku, but it looks like www.uefa.tv on a laptop should work fine, as long as I create a login. Alternatively it looks like BTSport.com may stream it for free also, but not sure if that'll work outside of UK.

The Women's Champions League final is on Paramount Plus, UEFA.tv (free you just have to register) and the Barcelona web site (you have to pay for a Barca TV subscription).

Thanks. I forgot about the match and how I wanted to keep an eye on it. Missed a pretty active first 30'. But beyond that, the Barca women are wearing perhaps the worst kit colors I've ever seen.

Any promos for Serie A. ESPN+ already has a huge section of La Liga stuff. Also saw Paramount added Brazil Serie A and CONCACAF Nations League sections

I have to give it to CBS Sports Network.

They are broadcasting more of the Europa post game celebration and fan interaction than Univision's channels.
Univision went to commercials much quicker.

I'm not going to watch whole qualifiers in AFC, but I might watch parts of games. I hope "effective this fall" includes the first matchday of Round of on September 2.

I wonder how serious they will take the qualifiers.
Like if they will have studio analysts like Fubo is doing for CONMEBOL or just broadcast a world feed like ESPN3 used to do in previous cycles.

I like having quality events in the AM to have on in the background while I work

I was half-watching by that point, but I did notice my Paramount+ stream cut out and I had to open up some other stream that had a blue border around the image with a caption at the bottom advertising the Golazo Show.

By that point though, it was basically on-field celebrations, so it wasn't a huge deal IMO.

But I guess if things are exclusively online, the broadcaster can have more freedom with such things vs commercial TV.

Except that I only added +1hr to my DVR record time. Anything notable happen with the Villareal celebrations after 3hrs?
