You are welcome. If you can post them too in detail it will be appreciated. Did you find all the unofficial Napoli games too?

You mean Ratings of the unofficial games or just the list of the unofficial games?

If you have both but I think mostly they were not rated. Thanks.

Yes, even some Coppa Italia game is not rated at all, the early rounds in September for example.

I will post a list of all the Cup games of Diego rated by Gazzetta and Corriere.
And then another post with all the unofficial game i have found.

Excellent. There is some missing for sure, like a Napoli 4-1 win over Racing of Argentina on 18 August 1988. Diego set up two goals against the Argentinian club which had Fillol in goal and Basile as manager.

I’ll see if there are other games missing, but you have uncovered many that I had missing. Thanks!

So, according to Gazzetta, as of 06.12.1988 Diego is at 32 games with 31 goals in unofficial friendly games with Napoli.
I have 22 games and 25 goals at that date, so we miss at least 10 games and 6 goals from 1984 to 06.12.1988.
Lets hope we can find those missing games @Vegan10

    3 April 1985 2-2 draw
    5 April 1985 2-1 Pumas win

    Excellent!

According to the Gazzetta article there was 15 unofficial games in 1984/85. You listed 14 so there’s 1 missing. There was only 2 unofficial games for 1985/86 which you have listed. For 1986/87 there was 7 unofficial games where you have listed 5, with 2 games remaining that is unknown. For 1987/88 there was 4 unofficial games which you have listed.

So for the first 4 seasons there’s still 3 games that remain a mystery. If you can in the archives focus on the first and the 3rd season to find out which ones are missing. Thanks!

I found a Novara-Napoli unofficial match, 13 novembre 1986, but i dont the score and if Diego scored. He played for sure. Also there is a match from august 1986 vs Benacense, but i dont know if Diego played.
There is also a match vs Afragola from 1984 (?), but from what i know they played just the 1st half and then the game was stopped

Which sources did you use for those ?

I think I glossed over a few of those years ago in my papers. It’s possible one of either the Afragola or Acerra games was not included in those unofficial matches.

If Maradona came to AC Milan and played with Maldini and Baresi,I have though for a long time that his life would be better because he was far from marfia, bad things and the most important thing in Milan they had good role models ex.Maldini,Baresi.

I found some reference on some Napoli websites, like lastoriadelnapoli.wordpress.com and napolitube.eu.
About the Afragola game, it was a post of FB of the last november, when Diego passed away. There was a picture too.

Maldini was too young to be a "role model" for Diego. There is a good documentary about Diego, "Le Verità Nascoste", from National Geographic. If you understand italian...well Ciro Ferrara said that they all know his problems but they couldnt help, because well...he was "Maradona" and no one could say something to Diego at that point.

I love Diego, but i think he could not have ever lasted so many years in any other club in the world. The fact that he had complete freedom and no one could say no to him was his end but was also the reason he played in Napoli for 7 years.

Yes Maldini is too young for Diego because he was 7years younger(late60-early68) but I talk about the environment of the team, the city and condition of both teams which I think Milan was better than Napoli.

You know for sure that Diego had a lot of problems with mafia in Naples, drugs problem which had caused by Naples mafia and southern Italy hasn't been a good place to stay or live for a long time too.If he played with Milan,I'm sure that he wouldn't have problems like this(although he started to took drugs in Spain during1983).

Rare and blurry footage of Maradona goal against Deportivo Pereira playing for Argentinos Juniors in 1980. I read somewhere he was asked what was the best goal of his career (taking out the goal he scored against England in 1986) and he said it was this goal.
