today - was final games of the season. laidback mood at bayern vs wolfsburg- was trying to find highlights of incidents, but as of right now cannot. 1. 42 min- wolfsburg keeper possible dogso handling- but no card, no nothing 2. then in 64 minute yellow card at midfield- where it looks like cleats to shin. but player gets a yellow. 3. second half of game- AR misses an offside, and then on ensuing goal, deems lewandowski to be offside - On all 3, didnt seem to be any VAR involvement, or maybe the VAR was like nothing to see here. I am not ranting or anything. Bayern had won the league already, and I think it was just a laidback atmosphere in the game. Everyone was probably let's get this over with, and be safe for the rest of the summer!
This was likely a case of following the direction that's used everywhere in the world other than England... the AR shall let the referee know that there's a possible offside, but keep the flag down if there's an imminent goal-scoring opportunity, and then flag if the ball ends up in the goal.

Steinhaus did show a red card today... but in the Second Bundesliga. She sent off Darmstadt's Victor Palsson (2nd yellow) for blocking a shot with his hand in the match at Stuttgart. Darmstadt's trainer also saw yellow for protesting this call. One of her assistants today was Katrin Rafalski, who also assisted her in the WWC 2011 Final. Rafalski is now a regular referee in the Third Liga. Steinhaus' Bundesliga streak stands at 24.
Third red card (double booking) she has issued in the 2. Bundesliga during the past three seasons, the time frame she's officiated the top flight.
Tobias Welz will take charge of the DFB Cup Final between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. Felix Zwayer will be his VAR. Zwayer just did the first leg of the relegation play-off between Werder Bremen and Heidenheim a few days ago.
The clock goes from 65:04 with the player walking off to 65:42 with the corner happening. I think you're right, and I think it's probably the right call.

According to the DFB's age limit of 47, Gräfe must retire after this season. Several players and managers ask the DFB to let him continue. Freiburg captain Günter: "We have to consider if someone like that can't referee for a little longer. He is fit and gives an excellent performance on the field. Please let him continue a little more!" Hoffenheim goalkeeper Baumann: "No, no! He cannot stop! He must continue!" Freiburg trainer Streich: "You have to decide if you want to take the age or the performance as the benchmark. He has the flair and is an authority. The players follow him." Gräfe himself feels fit and wants to continue. "In my opinion, more flexible rules could be sensible. In England, top referees like Mike Dean and Martin Atkinson, at almost 53 and 50 years old, lead the highest number of games in the Premier League with 21 and 23. Surely I won't officiate for that long, but why not at least another year, especially since so many things are different because of Corona?" That's great to hear there are efforts to keep him around. I caught him reffing a Klassiker a couple years back and was blown away by how good he was. Immediately searched to find out why he wasn't a FIFA official, only to learn that he was too old for FIFA. I do think that the age cut off helps minimize some difficult conversations with referees who are not self aware that they may be in decline. I just wish we were better at having those conversations than arbitrary deadlines.
In the meantime, almost the whole Bundesliga is fighting for Gräfe. There are two other referees who are reaching their age limit, Guido Winkmann and Markus Schmidt. Both of them do not want to retire through the back door without fans. Winkmann offers to continue for another half-season and voluntarily give up the fixed salary for that period (35000 Euro). Schmidt asks for only one game next season when fans are back. Both of them make it clear that they will take the fitness test, and passing it is a requirement for the deal. The referee commission rejected their request last week. Dr. Felix Brych will lead tonight's DFB-Pokal Final between Dortmund and RB Leipzig in Berlin. This is his second Final, the first coming in 2015 as Dortmund lost 1-3 to Wolfsburg. Brych did his 300th Bundesliga match today as Bremen is relegated after losing 2-4 at home to Mönchengladbach. Only Wolfgang Stark (344) and Dr. Markus Merk (338) had more. Brych has two seasons to go. Gräfe retires as 4th on the all-time list with 289 in Dortmund's 3-1 win over Leverkusen. Schmidt and Winkmann also retire in Bayern 5-2 Augsburg and Union Berlin 2-1 Leipzig.
