The MSU game has been moved from 2pm to 5pm. Available on the Fox Sports app rather than on BTN proper.
It looks like young Maher could use some marking lessons from big brother, but it was a nice comeback win. The new white jerseys are nice too.
It was pretty ugly. MSU was down 4 or 5 of their starters, so it's disappointing that we didn't dominate. Yes, we have some work to do. MSU had a lot of people behind the ball, but we found a way to score. I thought AJ had the winning goal, but there was a phantom foul callled.
Looks like shuffling our lineup worked. We smothered NU, winning 3-0. Goals by Ward, Goumballe, and Endeley. Goumballe and Palazzolo had assists. NU only had one shot, none on goal, and no corners. Ben Yeagley started and was effective as sort of a d-mid. I wonder what they're going to do with PSU's postponed games?

My thoughts as well. It looked like we were hungover. Championships are built on getting a result when you don't really deserve it though.
That's a good way of putting it. I've never seen IU make so many bad passes and have so many bad first touches. Gotta do better if we're going to win some hardware! That said, both keepers had very good games. Celentano came up with a wonderful save to keep the game level.
So we're currently at the top of the table at 7-1. With the advent of the PSU-MD tie, a situation similar to what happened in B1G football is looming. Because the rankings are being calculated as "points per game," there is a scenario whereby IU could come in second. In the (unlikely?) event that we lose to MD on Sunday, we would have an average lower (2.33 vs 2.38) than that of PSU - the team we didn't play because of their Covid issues. OTOH, what if we were to have to cancel Sunday's game because of "Covid protocols"? Our average would be unchanged at its current value, 2.62..... What a mess.
IU backs into the B1G regular season championship. MD can't field a team to play on Sunday ("unrelated to Covid"[???]), so IU's 7-1 wins the "points per game" lottery. https://umterps.com/news/2021/4/2/mens-soccer-maryland-indiana-soccer-match-on-sunday-canceled.aspx Looks like IU will play NU in the quarters.
Yes. He went into a tackle against Michigan and the opposing player's followed through after hitting the ball. Broke his leg.
Easy 3-0 win for the Hoosiers. It could have been 6-0. It went downhill quickly for NU after Endeley was taken down in the box early. Let's just say the NU starting keeper had a terrible horrible no good very bad day.
As an old GK and GK follower / fan for decades, I don't ever remember that either. It seems that perhaps many coaches don't want to sub out their starting keeper even in a blow-out, as perhaps there is some sort of worry it could bring bad karma, or something along those lines, to the GK and team going forward. And I've seen coaches staying with their starting keeper both when their GK is playing on the winning end of a blow-out, and also when their starting GK is on the losing end of a blow-out. Obviously that's speculation on my part as to why there are so few GK substitutions in games, even in blow-outs, but if that's part of the reason for not changing keepers -- that is, worrying about bad karma or whatever -- that seems a bit unfortunate as the #2 and other keepers on the team work very hard, but often never get on the pitch. Of course, that's obviously just part of being a GK, as of course there is only one of them on the field. Perhaps somewhat along those lines, here is an excerpt I came across a couple of years ago from a book -- "Dub (Dublin) Sub Confidential: A Goalkeeper's Life," written by an Irish / Gaelic football GK who was backup to the guy considered to be the best Irish football GK ever. In this excerpt from the opening of the book, the #2 keeper frankly describes his feeling as his GK teammate is called for a foul in a big playoff game just before the half time whistle ... "Clucko" is the starting GK. Interesting insight into what some #2 GKs might be thinking on occasion about their teammate and fellow GK Union buddy.
A more convincing victory against a quality opponent than we've had in a long time. Celentano again made a very good save to keep his sheet clean. And another "Bezerra Brace."
Congrats. IU defense is slowly slipping away with Maher having to sit out the 1st NCAA match from his red card (in addition to Glass' season ending injury)
True, but remember that we have only given up 3 goals all season. We shut out PSU for 28 minutes despite being a man down. I thought Redmon, who came in to play left back, did a very good job. I'm more concerned about "Bazooka Bazerra" tweaking a groin injury, although he was mostly able to play through it. Then there's Roman Celentano!
I said double-triple, and my wife looked at me like I was a total idiot. "Why didn't you just say 6 in a row like a normal person?" When I explained league plus tournament, it made a little more sense for her.
