Did someone say Pulisic vs Real in the Champions League? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...t-up-dortmunds-late-equalizer-vs-real-madrid/
It was probably necessary to get the defensive consistency they've shown this year, but while some of the jail-break stuff they can (and do) do - like the plays to get in behind Man City today, are fun, Chelski seem a lot less freewheeling/unpredictable. But they're much tighter in D, so it's better for them, less fun to watch for me.
And Chelski needed it. Last time I bothered to look they had less than 30 GA, I think. Probably over 30 now, but I doubt by much. Still gonna be a fun race down the stretch for a couple of teams.
Rudiger, in particular, has looked like a new player under Tuchel. He’s really benefitted from the back three. And what else can you say about Azpilicueta? The guy is an absolute beast of a defender.
Christensen too, looks like a much better defender. Last season, he was often seem as weak/soft and was a liability in central defense.
another genius Twellman moment was when he spoke about how "under appreciated" Azpa is...you know, the guy that has worn the captain's band the last few seasons and pretty much is a lock starter when healthy.
Well Lamps is an idiot and so is Twellman. He has been one of their key players for half a dozen years to say he's "under appreciated" is just flat wrong. He's a fan favorite and he wears the captain's arm band.
I’m a Chelsea fan. Your post did not indicate t by e time frame you were referring to but Dave was very much under appreciated under Lampard.
If that's what Twellman said, he's absolutely right. Azpilicueta is chronically underrated and underappreciated. He's been the one defender playing at a high level for the same club for nearly a decade in the Premier League. The only other player in that timeframe that's even close is Seamus Coleman, of Everton, an excellent player, but through no fault of his own, has won zero honors.
And formation/style. Can't argue with TT's defensive success - but it's still anybody's Europe. Chelski has a legit shot at 3 and a legit shot (less likely) at 6.
Chelsea (Christian Pulisic), Manchester City (Zack Steffen) and Real Madrid are expected to be kicked out of the Champions League, with an announcement to happen likely on Friday, per @ChristianRad.— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) April 19, 2021
Are you saying that a sport's sanctioning body cannot remove a team from a competition for cause? I would beg to differ.
They can do a lot more before the season begins than after it begins. The rules of play for this CL season must be followed.
Am I really the only one here who sees the hypocrisy of fans complaining about this at the same time they expect their billionaire owner to spend whatever the hell it takes to buy Haaland this summer?
I don't know all the laws, or rules of the game as it relates to any of the cups. I am not going to look them up, either. If a sanctioning body needs to remove a team from a competition, successfully, they will find a way to do it.
