The original statement that got me going was that Tyler is *right now* a top 5 DM in the world. That is not a statement about predicting the future, that is saying that he is *right now* pretty close to the level of Casemiro or Wilfred Ndidi. My point is that he might one day be at that level but is not yet. I don't see how it is pessimistic to say that at the moment, at the age of 22, Adams is not yet Casemiro. That is not pessimistic, the experts seem to agree that there are some things he needs to work on defensively. Also, he regularly starts, but not always, and not always in the midfield. If he were a top 5 player in the world at his position, he would be a first-choice lock-down starter at that position for a club like Leipzig, probably with rumors swirling that he was on his way to an even bigger stage. Saying otherwise is not tearing down our own players. I love Adams, I tune into RB Leipzig when they play, I root for him, I am excited to see his growth for club and country. But when I hear statements like he is a top-5 DM in the world, all I can think of is the needless hyping that has happened over US players for decades. About Kasey Keller being the top GK in the world. Or people on Bigsoccer saying they would rather have Adu than Messi after the U-20 world cup. (It's true! You can look it up!) Sorry, I said I was done, but the darned Bigsoccer keeps alerting me to new posts in the thread!
Umm, sorry, he was turned. It was another example of Muller's excellence, and if you needed yet another example, wait for about 30 minutes and watch him leave Adams again in the 2nd half almost leading to another goal. That is not Adams being a bad defender. I think he's a very good defender, but Muller is just class, and Adams will do nothing but learn from those two failures. You can't learn by being right all the time!
Apparently I struck a nerve. I didn’t address you in my posts, yet you went after me. I have made no claims about Adams future on this thread, yet you seem to think I have. What statements of mine here makes you want to charge me with all these defects? You can’t find one, right? What you are upset about is that I called generally out a kind of silly negativity here, and you saw yourself in what I criticized. You know nothing about me. You are lashing out. Relax. Message boards are not real life.
Such a high quality game this weekend and Adam's was at the very center of it. In a match featuring the 2nd best team in the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich, a 22 year old from New York was one of the most technically gifted and a aesthetically pleasing players to watch of all.
this is the primary value of being in the best leagues, isn't it? Some players will be crushed by the intense pressure, a few will be the aforementioned diamonds. Adams is heading toward diamond status, but it's going to take top level displays by people like Muller to get him there..
Because at 22 he got schooled by an exceptional player, having one of his best matches of an exceptional season? The problem with playing Bmunch is that, for any other team in the Bund, you're against, at every single position, a player for whom there is a legitimate argument to be made for a Bund best 11.Every season there are a couple exceptions and every off season Bmunch at least tries to buy those players.
What, like in the XI? You play that role, you are going to find yourself in that position. If you aren't a striker, most players are going to have to 1 v 1 defend a time or two. He'll take this and get better I assume. It wasn't that he was being played out of position.
One of the best run clubs by a country mile that's for sure. Having a midfield of Kimmich and Goretzka should actually be a crime against humanity.
Article from Germany: https://rblive.de/ueber-rb-leipzig/...ueberzeugt-bei-rb-leipzig-mit-mehr-ruhe-19190 This is due to his leap in performance, which his trainer highlighted at the beginning of March. "His development this year is outstanding," he said now. Last season Adams had problems with the ball in particular. "He was often too hectic and didn't find his position," said Nagelsmann. The bottom line is that, together with Amadou Haidara, he remains the player with the greatest progress in recent months. "It's been extraordinary for Tyler in the last ten or twelve weeks, that's reflected in the playing time."

Do we really think Adams got better over the past year? I don’t really buy it. Maybe he got healthier.
Isn't that the point of going to Europe, to get better? Also get paid more, but improving is one of the cliched reasons folks want to play against the best.
Yeah, I saw him holding his back after the hockey assist on the second goal. Odd injury for a kid his age. He looked like me after playing hoops with my kid.
