Some of the crap you post is so devoid of substance it doesn't deserve a response.

well we had people on here who thought that if you refuse to wear a mask you should be arrested and put in jail so I don’t think Having the Dash sit out the rest of the tournament is extreme.

I mean they can already be infected from breaking protocols and have gone back to the locker room and then practice this week and infected their teammates, who can infect another team who could infect the linesman who has a grandma at 97 could die from Covid!! There’s just no other choice - the Dash must be suspended from the tournament!!

And then you might have a security guard racially profiling somebody!! they should just revoke the entire franchise!’n

    .06 x 561780 = 33706.8 test confirmed dead with neither age nor a pre-existing condition

That is roughly equal to the flu death "estimate" for all ages, sexes, and conditions or not, for 2018-19. And the estimates take a raw test dead number in four digits (official CDC flu dead are often in the hundreds per week) and about triple it on the theory many are mis-diagnosed, never tested, or don't make it to the hospital or a doctor before dying. I've previously explained that for example in NYC last spring at peak they were ordered to take unrevived 911 patients to the morgue instead of the hospital for further efforts, who would die at home untested, and the story went that dozens such trips would be made per day. People would wait too long to call 911 and if they couldn't shock or CPR you back to rhythm right there, that was it. And if you'd never been tested but were symptomatic that didn't count.

Does the GOP realize that little percents add up to big numbers when enough people are involved?

Estimate I have seen is 54m (27%) of non-elderly adults have a pre-existing condition. I think that probably under-estimates how many of us have one of the list, particularly HBP, diabetes, or obesity. This is not a skinny country that watches its diet.

Another 46m are elderly. 100m total. Of 300m total. 1/3. This is not one 600 lb man at risk. This is 1 in 3 risks death easy and the others still have odds.

You then have to play the public health ball as it lies. It's kind of dense to promote free choice and some bad behavior, then mock it as a pre-existing condition disease, then ignore how many people had the conditions to start with. That is not public health policy dealing in reality. Reality is if this primarily goes after the old plus people with conditions, we have 100m.

And then like I said, y'all pretend a significant percent of the people this has killed weren't young and fit. That's what that 6% number is, they couldn't be called smokers or obese or diabetic or......etc. And they're dead too. At which point even healthy people are not immune but instead rolling dice in the casino.

I also think the GOP doesn't grasp the basic epidemiological maxim that there is more risk in slightly less deadly but infectious diseases because there is always another carrier and they just click off casualties. Something like ebola that quickly kills off everyone it infects tend to burn out fast because they kill their hosts too fast and it's too obvious too fast who is sick so we can avoid them. The insidious thing about covid is you can carry it and not be bleeding from every orifice.

At which point only idiots don't mask and vaccinate up for the unknown with percent risks for everyone.

For that matter, given how crap fell apart last spring, and how ineffective they were at doing anything, in the event we ever had a smallpox or plague equivalent you decided could be worthy of government effort, we would be completely paralyzed and suffer societal breakdown. Then for the virus we can corral it's not bad enough to bother.

The irony is there are countries living the GOP "theory" as "reality," if you do the right stuff this is not a mass killer. This is not plague fleas finding you. If you don't think you should have to stay home, wear a mask, or vaccinate, only then do the low percents add up. It is true this isn't a big deal -- just in other places that take the right measures to corral it at the beginning, and then have rules to keep it down. And they aren't communist dictatorships.

It makes more sense than anything Fauci says!! It’d be refreshing if some of these virus doomers would actually, you know, read the referenced article and the Osterholm guy who is quoted - he’s even worse than Fauci with the variant nonsense
