Goztepe made it a game late and Sivasspor ended up wining 5-3! I love those games. I have to say this has been a successful loan for Boyd. Is that 4 goals in 9 or 10 matches? Pretty darn good for being shut down most of the 1st half of the season due to Besiktas' stupidity. Maybe Tyler can play himself back into the USMNT fold.

What is this his 5th goal? How many more does he need to earn his way back into USMNT contention or is he already there?

Gold Cup seems like an ideal place to try him again and see if his form will translate to the national team.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him straight thrown into the WCQ squad. With no Olympics, I think the Gold Cup roster will be a little heavier on youngsters than it would have been. He definitely deserves a look in one or the other - he was an incumbent borderline starter before Covid.
Our WCQ don't start until September though. If I'm in Berhalter's shoes, I'd want to see him for an extended period of time, given his inconsistency, before I throw him into the most scrutinized set of WCQ we've ever played. One of those September matches could be T&T away, which I'm just now realizing and already dreading the coverage of. I think you're right about the Gold Cup squad being young, but I also think that's mostly a by-product of our first-choice XI being very young. How many of them are U-23, 7 or 8?
Wow, I had June in my head for the start of WCQ. Thanks for correcting. And my first choice 11 has just a keeper and 1-2 center backs (Brooks plus maybe one other until the young guys improve) who are above 23. It's amazing. Obviously there are some older guys who may still contribute - Boyd included, plus Yedlin, Lletget, Arriola, Morris- but I don't recall a national team where the youth movement was simply a function of the youth being better. It may never happen again for the US.
My thoughts exactly. I haven't really checked but it seems like has a Jozy-like tendency to score in bunches. Be great if he kept it up for a good long time.
