Agreed, would like to see him given a run sometimes soon. My #8 depth chart right now is Mckennie > Holmes > Pomykal, but after Mckennie that could change at any moment given a handful of players form. A lot of it will come down to who synergizes best with Pulisic and Reyna. As for Pomykal, I guess you would say his form is completely unknown because Dallas was forced to pull out of the MLS is back tournament because of COVID.
Exactly. I actually think Michael Bradley could be a good coach. However, like with anyone else, he needs to prove it. Even though his father is Bob Bradley, Michael Bradley should not jump straight from playing to being on the fast track to a major USMNT position. Down the road, if he's earned it, I would have no problem with him coaching the USMNT. The key is "if he's earned it". Unfortunately, merit doesn't seem to have a lot of priority in major US Soccer coaching and management hires (see Berhalter, Gregg).
My fear is Egg hires him. And we never get rid of Egg until SUM thinks the lion is ready... Shoot me now
I dont know. Quietly circling among US soccer fans is that wikipedia (which has proven to be extremely favorable to Michael Bradley and has "SOMEHOW" accurately predicted that he would stay as USMNT captain when he retuned after a year off or be removed as permanent USMNT captain (2019), is back to Listing Michael Bradley as USMNT captain (even though the program moved on in 2019 from him having that role). Scary clues...
Here's the player who will almost certainly be called into more camps, and is serving, at worst, as the guaranteed backup #6... The shadow realm has a new resident. pic.twitter.com/jBW8fXEiW2— Extratime ⚽🗣🎙 (@Extratime) August 19, 2020
Every time I see this thread bumped I have a vain hope it's with the update that MB is retiring... at least from the national team. Instead it's almost always just more evidence showing why he *should*.
I don't understand why they leave him out for 90 with 5 subs and young players who need time. If you can't pull him up 2-0, when can you do it?
twitter going nuts over bradley being the only player standing for the national anthem tonight- anyone have any info on that? i saw that it was the canadien anthem, so i guess it could be that? theres got to be some reason... still, the photos are damning and im worried this is going to get soccer mainstream attention in ways im not super looking forward to.
Probably something like that, given his previous pro-BLM statements. But he'll have to take the criticism. This photo is drawing attention away from the bigger US National Team story with Toronto FC - it's starting to look like Jozy Altidore is done in Toronto. Because something is going on with him.
Yes he was the only one standing for the Canadian national anthem. However he did kneel before kickoff. I tried to get a screenshot off my phone but ESPN+ is thwarting me.
He needs to be working on getting on the goal side of the opponents attackers rather than making a desperate lunge.
1379586704198225923 is not a valid tweet id Hope Bradley's days with the USMNT are done but this is the right attitude from every national team player unlike say Brad Friedel or Darlington Nagbe...
Unless Bradley is bagging a goal contribution every match until qualifying, he shouldn’t be anywhere near this team. He was a great player for the USA at one point, but that time has passed.
even at 33, he's better at controlling tempo and passing than most of the young players in his position. I would't mind seeing him again this year if we need veteran leadership in the gold cup.
Leadership? How many times did he shrink in the tough spot? He scored some big goals, but was he a consistent leader? Hardly. Our younger players can learn to swim without him around.
Watching TFC, he doesn't control tempo really. He just slows everything down so he can keep up. This is why they need a ringer like Giovinco or Pozuelo that can operate against a set defense. Because the other team is always set as TFC moves slowly forward. Setting tempo has to mean knowing when to go fast too, not just going slow.
Just let it be...you must know that when Bradley is 48 years old, someone will dredge this thread up and say "I'd love for him to get called up for his veteran leadership"...He is Jason Vorhees.
And there are too many games, and lots of kids, and he is a leader with a great soccer brain. Man, though... can you imagine Chris Armas asking/expecting 2021 MB to play like the young dumb full of chum 2007 MB... Covering crazy ground and trying to do everything??* That's kinda sad. He's such a good soldier that everyone in the room knows he can only say "challenge accepted" and head off on his doomed mission. *didn't really work great then, IMO.
