We need to realise that our players are THAT GOOD. I hate the inferiority complex we have.

I think we will need a goal though and would maybe take of Knauff who has been decent for someone.

    Bellingham has been good.

Amazing transition by Dahoud and Haaland fails to convert the 1v1 against Ederson. He's been off his game a bit.

Knauff subbed out, decent game. Terzic's idea with players like Bellingham, Dahoud, Morey and Knauff who are agile/fast worked pretty well regarding defending against ManCity in the second half. I hope this doesn't change now with subs coming in.

Man Can with sloppy passing all game long. He/s a veteran and needs to be better!

The start of the second half was good, particularly with Dahoud on fire. Now it's just like playing against Bayern. Being pinned into your own half and waiting for the inevitable goal.

I feel like this is who Can is. He's capable of making big plays on both ends of the pitch, while making simple errors resulting from lapses in concentration.

I was too fast. Reus 1:1!
Well played by Dahoud and Haaland as well.

What a time for Reus to find his long-lost scoring boots!

Of course our defense can't hold the result for 10 mins. At least we got the away goal.

2-1 in the end. A huge shame we could not hang on, but we have a shot next week. If Sancho can be fit then there's hope.

    Reus once again was incredible.

    We need Sancho back.

1:2 loss in the end. A better result was possible if Haaland had been his usual self.
Maybe this wasn't City at their best but for parts of the game, we could hang with them. Now the team needs to find out why they can't produce similar performances in the league against much weaker opposition.

I wouldn't put the whole blame on Meunier. It was a good play by ManCity that was almost offside if Hummels makes a step forward or has a smaller butt. I also think he was needed as Morey got beaten again and again. That could be a problem in the next game.

Agree about Morey struggling against Foden. I would like to see Akanji playing RB next game with Can at CB and Brandt in for Can in the middle.

Well we need to score. I wouldn't go that radical.

Can did his best and fought, but a few of our players just weren't at the required level.

Knauff and Morey especially, but they were the right decisions to play and did well considering their age and experience.

Haaland got the assist, but was poor. Maybe he should stop sending his dad on tours and focus on football especially when it's the biggest weak of the season and he has missed sitters.

There is definitely hope for the next match. I imagine City will rest all of their team for the next game.

Agree about Knauff and Morey being the right call but Can had a really bad game. He was giving away the ball in the most dangerous situations of which one lead directly to their first goal. That is unacceptable from a veteran player like him, especially when he's playing next to young and inexperienced teammates.

Haaland has been off throughout the international break and it has continued ever since. He missed numeruous chances against Frankfurt and today he has to score on that big chance of his.

Reason why I want Akanji to play RB is becasue he's athletic and has pace which will allow him to hang with the Foden's and Sterling's of the world much better as he will be able to body them off much more effectively.

I don't really blame Can for this at all. In fact I admire his bravery and guts. Not his physical bravery, but his bravery to get on the ball and try to thread the ball through.

It's not his game, it's not what he is best at, but someone had to do it and he did. Yeh he made a mistake and I have always said 6 is the key position along with Gk we need to improve. (Just look at the transfer thread for 2 players that could do the role). However I won't criticise Can for covering and doing the best he could and never hiding. We know we need to improve in the summer.
It might be worth the gamble.

I am actually coming around to your way of thinking. In fact I probably agree with you.

Terzic needs to stop whatever fight he is having with Brandt and use him. Reyna is woefully off form and we are going to need Brandt.

    Now onto Stuttgart.

Also City are not the best team in the world. I thought it before and think it now. The next few weeks will show if I am right or wrong, but Bayern are the best team in the world for me.

Also looking at comments and some people are saying Delaney should have started instead of Can.

I am not being rude, but that's just so unbelievably clueless. Delaney is a good destroyer, but he is awful on the ball and wouldn't stand any chance against that press. He is probably the worst player technically in the entire squad.

There is no easy solution for the next game, especially if you want Akanji at right back.

It's a big ask, but you could ask Bellingham or Dahoud to try it. Not convinced either could do it in a must win game.

Since City do not really have an imposing CF, maybe Can can be left in place as a DM and Delaney can play CB next to Hummels.

The one thing that I just cannot get over is the flat out robbery of the Bellingham goal. VAR has been in effect for a few years now so why does the ref not let the play go and then let VAR take a look at it. To me that was just highway robbery!

It's a tough decision either way. We could try Bellingham there against Stuttgart and see how he does. It's a risk, but why not?

Reading comments and would have to watch the game again, but some people are saying Foden got a lot of joy when Knauff went off and Reyna didn't help. That might be true.

Foden might be a player that needs two players to defend against. I don't remember whether that worked better with Knauff or the other midfielders but Foden seemed to get through much easier in the late part of the game until Morey got subbed. That's why I wouldn't want Brandt as a winger for such a game with these player types. Hazard is at least a busy bee in defense and Knauff can close holes with speed and seems to be the only winger who doesn't play basketball in defense (without any contact).
I don't think we need to sacrifice Morey or put Akanji there if Morey gets sufficient help but I also remember that Akanji had some good games as a LB.

Disgraceful decision, even a yellow for Bellingham. The pen he tried to give was dodgy af as well, suspiciously bad refereeing.

Up next is Stuttgart, captained by third division midfielder Gonzalo Castro, so anything but a win is unacceptable.

Haha Castro, a source of much frustration under Tuchel. Shame they don't have Toprak and Rode too.

The team should take confidence from tonight's match, this game is winnable and the gap to Frankfurt could be reduced.
