I seem to remember there were some other Kafka style cases where government department refused to issue birth certificates to citizens? That gets crazy where the department disputes the contents of it's own registry
Even when a birth certificate is easy to get, it is not free. I got one years ago so that I could get a passport. Now I don't know where the certificate is. If I want to get another one, it will cost $28 at the County Recorder's office.
Right. I don't think you should vote if you don't want to vote. In Argentina most people end up voting, so it does work in terms of getting people participating. Very few people choose not to vote. If you don't vote, you get fined. In practice they are not going to go after you, but they record it, and if you ever need a passport or another federal document they won't give it to you unless you pay the fine. Also, you have the option of voting "en blanco" (blank), and in a typical election around 1 to 2 percent of the people choose to do so, to make the point that they don't like any of the candidates or the system itself.
Many times it comes down to acquiring the correct ID. First you may have to get to your home county municipal office, at your expense, no matter the distance, or the hours that they are open (usually only during regular work hours) to get a voter ID card. Once there, you can present an acceptable ID. Drivers License? Sure. Birth Certificate, great. Passport, excellent. Easy for old-fart, suburban professional me to produce. Now, what else is accepted? Gun License? Perhaps. Military ID? Why sure, thank you for your service, we support our troops! How about not accepted? Student ID, you ain't from around here. Public Benefits card? No, sorry, we already told you what type of ID's we allow. So the scales are tipped in a certain direction of how to prove oneself in order to be able have your 'right' to vote. If all ID were considered valid, I'd have no problem with voter ID.
The mRNA technology is probably also the answer to cancer, producing antibodies who can destroy cancer cells.
Copied from Referee Forum..... WaPo article today: "Are youth sports an engine of B.1.1.7 outbreaks?" "Dan Culhane, 62, took extraordinary precautions when he returned to the ice as a youth hockey referee in January. He triple-masked, wore a plexiglass face shield on his helmet and donned his gear at home to minimize time indoors. "It wasn’t enough. "Culhane, who died on Feb. 28 of covid-19, is one of more than 189 people confirmed or suspected to be linked to an unusual youth sports outbreak of the coronavirus in Carver County, Minn., driven by the B.1.1.7 variant that was first seen in the United Kingdom. The interlinked cases span all levels of K-12 schools, from elementary to high school, and 18 hockey, four basketball, three lacrosse and one soccer teams." Yep, I just had to do that personally about 2 years ago, when I officially changed my name. Also, new Social Security card, DL, State ID, Passport, etc. Also, as I have mentioned, I have had to do that for client. It can be a pain.
My pigmentation is also sun-unfriendly, and yet I still got stopped. In retrospect, I think I probably shouldn't have been using my business' old beat up cargo van to drive to San Diego, that was probably what triggered the stops, but how else are you going to make deliveries?
It's insular thinking, honestly. My dad and sister have been around the globe for work and leisure, both are engineers and brilliant in their own ways, especially in their own subject matter, but when it comes to other subjects, they think they know the subject. They usually shut up quickly when someone who is knowledgeable takes them to task.
To be honest, Michigan's going through a Covid surge right now. One of the factors is due to indoor school sports being allowed. I wouldn't be surprised if it's other factors, but once Whitmer lifted restrictions on indoor sports cases went up massively.
Who says sun-unfriendly? I tan like a mo-fo. Yeah vans and southern border aren't a good thing. I'm 2.5 hours from Quebec and drive a Honda.
Yeah, see the problem. With a passportfoto made by a shop with the right equipment and software you apply for it in an hour and a few days later you can pick it up. Has to do with biometric stuff etc. to be put on a chip in the passport.
It seems odd that with all the time and money that's been spent researching HIV, it takes COVID to get scientists to even begin to have some promising news on an HIV vaccine.
To renew my French passport I have to physically go to a consulate, embassy or Hotel de Ville (if in France). It is a royal pain, and extremely expensive, given the closest consulate to me is in San Francisco. However, it is nonetheless more "secure" than renewing my American passport, which I did entirely through the mail.
