Hmmm, media was awfully quiet last night about the shooter so you knew he probably wasn’t some Conservative radical

Every news outlet I watched covered the story live and continued to give updates after they broke away. More bullshit tweets. You ever get tried of posting fake news? Keep fight the good fight.

my lungs are fine tyvm is everything GOP does these days intended to be half insult? no wonder enormously indulgent free speech is y'all's obsession.

it's very simple. there is a broad range of punishment between nothing and execution. that is not the on off switch. that is such a lame ad absurdum. in 1918 you would get a week in prison or a fine for not wearing a mask. end of problem. that is all i am asking. that is obviously legal because it was legal then.

similarly, about a decade before that the supreme court said mandatory vaccination is legal. we have regressed in 100 years as technology and medicine progressed. they had roughly the same dead in 1918 in 2 years. they didn't have antibiotics or modern medicine. it's pathetic.

you act like it's not a big deal, it kind of isn't in the countries that do it right. not here.

the flaw in your logic is that due to GOP interference everything we do is a swiss cheesed half measure. we don't do real lockdowns. we don't do real border closures. we don't contact trace. we don't enforce quarantine. everyone is on their own. everyone does not behave. we are where we are.

to do a border closure and lockdown right you need to catch it back where we did ebola. handful of people whose contacts can be traced. what we have in this country is unchecked spread at numbers so high that even if people would cooperate with contact tracing, it would overwhelm the system. at numbers so high if you lockdown you will still get high numbers from essential workers and families stuck at home together.

we have the highest raw numbers on cases and deaths. we remain in the top 5-10 even when switched to per 100,000. we have done a horrible job. no amount of any fox-generated sloganeering can change that.

On jobs desired and our American teens these days:
I took my family to the McDonalds down the street for breakfast last week and they had the dining area closed to the public. We were told to just utilize the drive thru. When I asked the manager at the locked door why, he was kind enough to inform me what was happing there. He replied that "none of the local teenagers looking for a job will volunteer for the weekend shifts." Then when assigning the weekend shifts to those that already work there, the other teens declare that they have no intentions of showing up on the weekends to work. I asked if he was kidding as I couldn't believe what I was hearing having been a teen that worked all sorts of jobs back in the day! To now find out that this current American generation in suburbia of Houston had fallen so far from the concept of just getting paid on the days off from school.

Here you go, figured white supremacy was what caused the shooting:

yes, Texas being an anti-masking red state is proof that masks work, right?

My TV is on ABC most days for background noise. The shooting was a major story today on most of their shows. To be honest, I had no idea the shooter's race until reading your shared tweets. You can carry the cross if you want to, but those tweets just aren't accurate.

I will say this much, when the shooting in Colorado was carried live on CBS while I was watching the NCAA Tournament all day, when the police finally drag the shooter out he is in cuffs and still alive.
In other cases, he woulda been KILT!!! Not killed, but kilt, shot dead the second the police had a look at his torso! Take from this what one will.

And we should shut this bad boy down and make a current events thread if we all want to have a take on what is going on in society. Having this titled thread still alive as 2020 Season and Virus Talk!

I recommend we keep the thread open - otherwise the political diatribe seeps into other soccer related threads.

Put those you think that are spewing hate and false narratives on block / ignore. Don't feed those trolls, it only fuels more nonsense.

Hopefully vaccinations will be had for all and more herd immunity puts the issue behind us.

“False narratives”. LOL. No proof masks work in any sort of reasonable practice situation but that is a “false narrative”. So is the blue states and Europe surging with masks and lockdowns imposed - a “false narrative”.

well I think you have me blocked so you don’t see it anyway, go doom elsewhere

    Speaking of false narratives.

going forward though I’m probably just going to update this thread with vaccine tallies such as the graphs I’ve posted the last few days

After much thought (not really), I've decided to keep this thread open as I enjoy the repartee.

For those concerned about my absence last week, my wife and I drove to El Paso to visit her mom. One thing of interest is that the US Border Patrol checkpoint at Sierra Blanca was no longer stopping vehicles, we were just slowed and waved through. This occurred to all vehicles I saw including 18 wheelers. Don't sure of the reason but surmise that the BP has redeployed personnel to the border to deal with the current crisis.
