Quick question to start off the 2021 thread: the coup in Myanmar... does it mean that they're out of our group? It's the next match, I don't know if they'll be granted the chance of being there. Or is it just a matter of the government getting their hands into the FA's decisions?
Yusaku Ueno has been appointed as assistant coach of Japan national team. He is a former forward, so that's interesting because now the JNT has in it's coaching staff a former forward (Yusaku Ueno), a former defender (Toshihide Saito) and a former midfielder (Hajime Moriyasu), and all of them have the official JFA class S coach license.
Japan senior national team's (World Cup 2022/Asian Cup 2023 qualifying) match against Mongolia is now moved to Japan. It was previously scheduled to be played in Mongolia. The match will be held in Chiba Fukuda Denshi Arena, 30/March 2020, 7:30pm JST. This means Japan will play all of their remaining four 2nd round qualifying matches at home. https://www.jfa.jp/news/00026348/
Japan's squad for upcoming matches against South Korea and Mongolia: https://www.jfa.jp/news/00026501/ GK: Shusaku Nishikawa (Urawa). Shuichi Gonda (Shimizu). Daiya Maekawa (Kobe). Takehiru Tomiyasu (Bologna/ITA). MF: Ataru Esaka (Kashiwa). Wataru Endo (Stuttgart/GER). Junya Ito (Genk/BEL). Riki Harakawa (Cerezo). Takumi Minamino (Southampton/ENG). Kyogo Furuhashi (Kobe). Lol Sasaki again. Would maybe pick Kosei Tani as 1 of the GK options imo. Sakamoto is in good form recently hence understandable.
I guess they're going to try a "lone striker" formation i.e. 3-6-1, 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 kind of tactics. We'll see.
I guess the golden generation of talent is truly over, it may be a long time until we see a talent pool like that again. I had hoped nakai and kubo would be the ones, however the latter has slipped dramatically. Nakai is a wait and see.
Funny , I read a article from last year where they say that Japan for now has goldenest Generation then ever . Kubo, Doan, Okugawa, Sugawara (what a talent), Kamada, Minamino, Pipi (very high hopes for him, the media ist going crazy), Moriota and so on. Appart from the striker Position the list is almost endless. Huge Potential I think, lets see, what the can build of. Yeah Nakai plays for Castilla and trains often with the first Team for now.
No one comments the 3 - 0 against SK? It seems Minamino can't simply score. First clean sheet for the "italian couple" Yoshida + Tomiyasu, the first of many!
The scoreline should have been at least 5-0. They wasted too many 1 vs 1 chances. Osako's link-up play was pretty good despite his lack of playing time at Bremen. The duo of Endo and Morita totally controlled the midfield. Good bye Shibasaki. It's just a matter of time before Morita moves to one of the major leagues. When it comes to centre backs and defensive midfielders, there's never been the depth of players Japan has now. Don't forget Itakura didn't play today.
I think the best thing for him would be to move somewhere else where he could learn the ropes and, more importantly, accumulate quality minutes. I watched whatever I could get hold of and I agree with the assessment.
I was disappointed in Korea's lineup, so I watched a good part of the game but it just went as I expected.
Somewhere else? Is Getafe too much for him? Or you meant the whole spanish league? This is embarassing, he was supposed to be the Chosen One, not the biggest disappointment ever after Miyaichi.
Kubo is 19 not 26, even a worse season or 2 are no worries. He played in a Team which stuck in a totaly crap Moment but Kubo assisted the 1-1 at the weekend for Getafe.
He is still a teenager. I think considering his playing style, he is a late bloomer. Teens who excel at the top level tend to be physically prepared for the game. His talent is definitely there and he showed it last season. Sint-Truiden deserves some award from JFA for their massive contribution to developing Japanese players. Tomiyasu - will move to a big team soon. Endo - one of the best DMFs in Germany. He has won more duels than any other Bundesliga player. Kamada - third best assist provider in the top 5 leagues And they will export Yuma Suzuki to a top league this summer.
