So FdB said in effect that Luuk has done quite well with the Dutch NT... well, this is patently false! Luuk has as many goals as I do (which is zero!) in his eleven past Oranje matches, including four of them when he started and played full 90 minutes. That is not going to cut it, wherever angle you want to see this from. It is surely time for the next man up, and that begins with Weghorst.

He just made himself look even more like a clown and inept for the job. Worst attempt at an explanation ever, not factual and not logical at all.

Same for the Babel and Donny explanation. Absolute madness.

Maybe we’ll get very very lucky, loose against Turkey and the sack De Boer, that will be awesome. I don’t mind Peter for now.

De Boer is a stupid man. His words and thoughts/reasoning are pathetic.
    Unbelievable stupidity.
That said I’m hoping and expecting a win.
Lots of pressing and quick and decisive passing and moving in attack.

  8. Has anyone an idea how Haaland and Odegaard are connecting in the Norwegian team?

So Voetbalzone expects this to be the starting line up for today:

All in all a pretty decent line-up. I get Blind being the CB if Van Dijk, De Vrij and Ake aren't available. I'm curious to see how the partnership with De Ligt will be again. Obviously Blind does add some creativity which we really need. The midfield of Frenkie, Wijnaldum and Klaassen is solid - the only thing is that I hope to see FDB bring in Gravenberch for Klaassen in the second half, I really really want to see how Frenkie and Gravenberch play together. That could be something incredible for the future.

Berghuis still always makes me so sad to see, not because I particularly dislike Berguis but because you know he's just the worse version of Ziyech and we should have had Ziyech there. But given the players we have i'm not sure who i'd choose above him, so I think this is fine. The only change I would have tried would be Weghorst as striker with Depay on the left and Malen on the right, but who knows if that provides enough creativity. We sorely lack a very creative player. One of Stengs or Ihattaren really needs to improve and make the next step, we really need a worldclass player like that! Perhaps Noa Lang if he continues to improve? I definitely think he deserved at least a substitute appearance at that position.

Tete at RB - not the most exciting pick but I guess it is ok given we don't have a Mazraoui or Dest. I really hope one of Geertruida, Frimpong, Rensch or Timber can make that position their own ASAP! Our team lacks attacking creativity and in that sense we can expect just about nothing from Tete, unfortunately.

But all in all a decent line-up, can't complain I guess.

It’s Ok I guess. Could be a lot better. I don’t really like Blind as a CB, maybe against lesser opponents he can do Ok. I hope.
Would have loved to see de Ligt -Struijk.

Also, I would pick Karsdorp over Tete at the moment. These NT coaches have a bit of an obsession with Tete. Is he that good at Fulham who are in the relegation zone? I don’t watch their games, obviously. Happy to see Wijndal get the start.

The midfield is Ok, nothing more nothing less. Frenkie is the only worldclass player in that line of the field. Klaassen has done really well for Ajax but has yet to translate that for the Ducth NT. Wijnaldum imo is on the decline at Liverpool, let’s see how it goes for the NT.
Gravenberch should be in there imo.

Attack is Ok. I hate to see Berghuis in there, but I guess it will do vs these opponents. Hope Malen can regain his form cause he’s been meh for PSV lately.

All-around Ok’s, could be a lot better with better selections though. Sigh.

I agree specifically on all of the positions you said. I would have also preferred to see Struijk tried next to De Ligt, Gravenberch instead of Klaassen, another attacking RB instead of RB (whoever that is) and I wish we had a better RF than Berghuis.... but unless they're adding Weghorst it's hard to determine who that would be (although I would give Noa Lang a run). It's kind of ridiculous that Frank de Boer didn't use the loss of De Vrij, Ake and Van Dijk to call up Struijk... this was the perfect moment and he completely bottled it. I think it's a matter of time before Struijk goes to Belgium and I am afraid the same could happen with Ihattaren and a number of other players. Frimpong needs to be given more chances as well in the youth teams at least.

Agree completely. Belgium’s CB situation is getting dire with the likes of Vermaelen and Vertonghen getting old. They desperately need a quality injection in that department and Struijk would be perfect.

De Boer should be fired just for messing that up, let alone for the rest of the mess he is creating...

Tete over Dumfries is just plain absurd. Dumfries has been the most consistent player in Eredivisie... a good leader and organizer in the backline. Has a decent overlapping and attacking game. Did well in past Oranje games (Tete hasn't been involved with Oranje as of late, WTF FdB... whatever happens to maintaining continuity?) More importantly, Dumfries adds muscle and toughness in the backline, as well as aerial presence.

Really nervous about Blind in CD. I have a bad feeling that he be badly exposed, due to his lack of speed and physicality. Though on the other side of the coin, he will be valuable in getting the start going from his own half..... when/if Frenkie getting pressured.

Klaassen is the most balanced option as the "third-wheel" in midfield. He will do just fine.

Malen is a welcomed addition. He is the most direct front player in the squad, and his scoring record has been pretty solid this season. Berghuis adds experience and overall niftiness to the game. Great set-piece taker. Also has an excellent goal & assist record. Stengs would be an excellent choice here, too. He will be most definitely the first player emerging from the bench if the attack is not working.

I'm very disappointed that Weghorst wasn't included in the final squad.
I would play with him up front rather than Luuk or Malen.

Tete is an awful pick, he isn' t even a full starter at Fulham. I can't understand why Hateboer was cut instread of him, I only hope that we will play with Dumfries at least.
Karsdop would also be a much better option, he has played almost every match with Roma this season with decent performances.

    What a disaster.

So sloppy and dumb by Malen. The non-penalty leading to a goal on the other side. Can this go any worse?
