Yes, you are right, I meant 15 years, after the generation 83/84/85. Afellay was indeed unlucky but he was the only one that could have reached that same level.

Edit: Van Dijk and Wijnaldum are also world class o/c, but still, 85-97 is quite a desert.

Utrecht striker Nick Venema will spend the season on loan with Almere City. Had 28 appearances for the Utrecht first team, scoring seven goals, but has fallen down the pecking order after the arrival of Adrian Dalmau. I thought he was supposed to be one of the rising star strikers... Surprise that he would be playing in the lower league.

  3. Rumours are going round that PSV and Ajax are after Stengs.
It must be said these are sites that are known for just throwing shit into the air to get clicks. They mention a 20 million price tag.
If AZ is smart they just wait until after the EL matches againts ManUnited and that 20 million is a joke soon enough.

^^IIRC Stengs extended his contract last spring with AZ. The player and club are in the driver's seat on this one.

  5. Yeah, that's why I am very sceptical about the trustworthyness of those sites. Not gonna give them clicks by posting the links.

Borussia Dortmund looks set to capture Jayden Braaf from Man city just like they did with sancho but this time city is expected to.put in a buy back claws.

  7. Both Ajax and Leverkusen are after Fosuh-Mensah.
I never would take in a player who turned his back on the club while having profited from the club's academy without giving back.

Supposedly he has an attitude problem. He needs to mature a bit

@feyenoordsoccerfan - there is a report on ESPN that teams are interested in Kokcu and that because of the club's financial problems he can be purchased for about half his value. It would be a big loss to Feyenoord if this happens.

  13. First of all he has to be interested too. Second the funny thing with networks abroad they assume by going by financial problems players are on the cheap available.
Those idiots should stay at commenting on football matches and stay away from statements on subjects they clearly have no understanding of.

Orkun Kökcü, if he's for sale, will be sold to the highest bidder. If, as that source claims, several clubs are interested to buy him, he never goes for half his value whatever that value is in covid times. Just suppose three top clubs want him and that 1/2 value is 10 million. Is club B and C say to club A: okay, you're the first to put 10 million on the table, he's yours?
Isnot the more likely MO they're going to up that bid?
These morons are full of assumptions, but empty of real insights.

Orkun Kökcü before covid struck was valued around 20 million with a bid Feyenoord rejected iirc. So that epl club saw with that bid potential to grow beyond that price. It's unlikely competing clubs are going to shy away when they can't get him for 10.
I think Orkun Kökcü is still not ready for the big stages and my guess is he knows that too and prefers to stay.

Peter Bosz has been sacked! I haven’t read all the details behind it, but wow... didn’t see that coming. He is probably my top choice for Oranje head coach. Now what we need is a couple terrible games under FdB, he is shown an exit door, and then order will be restored :D

Not much of a surprise. His team failed in the Europa League against weak opposition and got bounced from the German Cup by a lower ranked club. Eight points in the last nine matches won't cut it.

That sure was a massive and sudden decline! Leverkusen were unbeaten and poised for a title challenge back in December IIRC. Still, Leverkusen is sixth in the table, with only a handful points behind the fourth place (though not too many league matches left to play). Other head coaches remain on the job with worse results. Sounds like there could be more than just the on-pitch performance... maybe he just lost voice the dressing room entirely, etc.

    KNVB calling yet?

I was following Leverkusen closlely while keeping tabs on the dutchmen there and it all started to spiral downwards for bosz after the injury to their no 1 stopper Lukáš Hrádecký just before the first leg europa clash vs Young Boys where they wont down 4 -3. the back up stoppers were horrendous making costly blunders that resulted in conceding goals and at the same time denting the teams effort up front. Bosz had no choice but to rotate all the three back up stoppers but all were not up to par as Hrádecký. otherwise the team was ok. mensah injury was a setback otherwise it was business as usual for bosz.

  20. So you're basically saying the board sacked Bosz for their own incompetence to provide a reasonable bench.
