My guess is that this is in part due to dealing with two different counties (Denver for the Rockies and Adams for the Rapids). Each may have their own metrics., etc. And perhaps the Rapids are pushing for more fannies in the seats than the country feels comfortable with so both sides are negotiating the final number and other details - bathroom use, the store, concessions, etc.

It was a bit silly to put out a non-statement statement. I would have waited until there was something more definite.

At this point the ticket reps are working from home. Tried to call several numbers yesterday to see if I could chat with a rep about adding a one season ticket to the two we already have and they all went to some sort of voice mail. They I realized that no one is in the office, they are all remote and thus use their own phone.

AIUI the state and/or county isn't going to issue any variance until they have the full schedule of games, which MLS hasn't released yet.

Interesting. Why would it matter what the full schedule is in determining the number who can can safely attend? That I don't get at all. The generalities of the schedule are known in that the season will start in April and go deep into the fall wand early winter. Most matches will take place on Saturdays, etc.

Don't know, just what I'm hearing. They may not need the whole schedule but they may want to know how many home games will happen between now and some date where they expect to lift the restrictions to a higher level or something.

Rapids play KFC 4pm today. No stream. Wonder who will get Acosta's minutes?

Rapids getting some Garber Bucks from Atlanta this morning in a trade for a 2021 International Roster Spot:

I'm sure the International Spot Wiz @JasonMa can shed some light on how many spots we had before the trade, and how many we have after. I was thinking we had 7, and this brings us down to 6. Not sure though.

However, right now we have the following players that are designated on the Rapids Roster as an International:

    1. Danny Wilson
    2. Andre Shinyashiki
    3. Jack Price
    4. Younes Namli
    5. Nicolas Mezquida
    6. Philip Mayaka
    7. Braian Galvan
    8. Nicolas Benezet

That's 8 players currently on the roster that are internationals. Which would mean (my guess anyways) that somebody is going out on loan, or somebody is about to no longer count as an international.

My guess would be Shinyashiki is the closest to getting rid of the international status on his roster position.

My other guess is that Mayaka would be the first choice of that list to be on loan.

The OTHER question out of this, is whether or not the Rapids have another player in mind that they would use the 225K on this year, or if they are stockpiling this for a later move

I'll check the numbers later this afternoon, but I think you're right that we're at 6 now. One important note though in the press release is that the $225K is in 2022 GAM from ATL. So we won't even get it until next season.

I would say any of the first 3 on that list should be "in line" for meeting green card requirements. Wilson better be getting one if we resigned him. I do not see Mayaka being loaned out, given where he was taken and scouting reports, he needs to be with Rapids.

No else following the U-24s' Olympic qualifying? Vines seems to have wrapped himself around a roster spot and keeps growing

Both he and Lewis have been playing well this tourney so far. With their current form I imagine both with be called up for the Olympic Games should we qualify

The fact that the bolded statement is possible is a travesty. Not really sure if it's because we've declined or the rest of the region has improved. Either way it should be a given for the USA to qualify given the resource and population gap.

Perhaps it's just my expectations for 27 years after World Cup '94 that are unrealistic.

Only 2 teams from CONCACAF get in. USA men have not qualified since 2008 and we were "selected" into group with Mexico for this years qualifiers.

Good news is we have qualified for 2028 Olympics... Since we are hosting.

That might actually be in our favor. I'd rather face Mexico having already clinched a spot in the semis rather than face them in the semis when only one of us can qualify for the Olympics.

Agreed. When I first saw the draw it was curious. But it seems to be working out in our favor.

FYI the Rapids announced today they're delaying the jersey release in light of the shooting in Boulder yesterday. They'll announce the new release date at a later time.

Completely agree. We are guaranteed to make it to the semis now, which means we aren't in a position where we need to "force" a result against Mexico.

Also, with drawing Mexico in our group, it sets up nicely that we have a pretty decent shot of making it into the Olympcis.

The Semifinals after the group stages (Group A and Group B) are:

    1B vs 2A and 1A vs 2B

The winners of the semis will then qualify for the Olympics. So, now that the USA is guaranteed out of the group, all we need to do is get the win in the Semis against:

    Honduras (4 pts, +3GD)
    Canada (4 pts, +2GD)
    El Salvador (1pt, -2 GD)
    Haiti (1pt, -3GD)

Honduras plays Canada and El Salvador plays Haiti next, so its a crap shoot with what happens next depending on far too many variables in either of the two games to make an accurate prediction as to which team the USA will draw.

I think that the US can get a result against any of those four....which means they are likely to qualify for the Olympics.

HOWEVER. While I am happy to see US Soccer succeeding, and Lewis and Vines helping with that....it also means that we may miss out on their help during the summer months this season....

The Olympic's football schedule starts on July 21st. Not sure when Kreiss would make the callups, and not sure which European based players he would call.

But I think we all know that Vines has pretty much locked in his ticket to the Olympics. Lewis has played well this tournament so far, but I think his ticket depends on which Euro based players are called in. (Aaronson, Mckennie, Pulisic, Reyna, etc.)

I imagine that the final callups for the Olympics will come through around the same time frame as the qualifiers. Bassett, Trusty, Vines, and Lewis were all called into Guadalajara just under a month before the qualifiers started (Feb 23rd, when the games started Mar 18th)...and if that timetable remains similar this summer....

We could be missing Vines, and potentially Lewis, from the middle of June until early August

@JasonMa is correct on this according to a ticket rep I spoke with yesterday. The Rapids anticipate getting the schedule from MLS later this week and they feel confident that they'll be able to move forward with allowing a limited number of fans in on April 24th. The person I spoke with cited the Rockies as a reference and told me that season ticket holders would be able to attend.

Beat me to it -- I assumed it was rigged so that we and Mexico couldn't meet in the all important semifinals,

I wonder if they will be adding some sort of tribute to the Boulder shooting victims. Would be a nice touch and tribute to the community.

Rawls and Kelly have been loaned to Phoenix for the 2021 season.

Interesting that Kelly has been loaned already. He played well last season as both a right back and in the midfield. Does this mean Seb Anderson and/or someone else have shown well in camp?
