Scrimmage #2 underway and we have a Kortne Ford sighting!!! Also included are 3 of the new "homegrown" signings with Yapi, Toure, and 'Scholesy' Larraz
"It is just a scrimmage, but that’s the way you want to start things off."Feeling good following our first two scrimmages of preseason.— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) March 16, 2021
Is there any chance Kortne Ford could come back after missing years? He was raw before the layoff. I’d love to see it, but it seems unlikely.
Nothing in this article that most here haven't already considered, but Sam Stejskal given the Rapids' executives (Pádraig?) a thumbs up in terms of being willing to look at what wasn't working and fix things. “[We have] a real structure that enables us not only to be able to identify and recruit the best young talent across the country.”@chasehowell__ on "Rapids Way" paying dividends: https://t.co/ZgHqXshgSF— Denver Post Rapids (@rapidsnews) March 17, 2021
It seems that even if he is physically 100%, he still needs to get used to the mental parts of playing in a match. If that's the case, he would need to spend part or all of the season with the Switchbacks as a starter. I'm not counting him out in the long run. But it seems like he wouldn't be likely to get first team minutes early in the season. By signing Michael Edwards it seems the Rapids are covering themselves in the long run should Ford not be able to push for starting time in the next year or so.
Found this list interesting for today's matches - The injury report for the matches are as follows: Cole Bassett - International Duty Braian Galvan - Out Clint Irwin - Out Jonathan Lewis - International Duty Diego Rubio - Out Auston Trusty - International Duty Sam Vines - International Duty William Yarbrough - Out Are Bassett and Trusty getting some rest after their brief trial with the Olympic qualifying team?
Starters for the first match today: Abraham Rodriquez, Keegan Rosenberry, Lalas Abubakar, Danny Wilson, Steven Beitashour, Jack Price, Kellyn Acosta, Younes Namli, Nicolas Benezet, Andre Shinyashiki, Michael Barrios. A very veteran side with the big exception of Rodriguez. Starters for the second match: Andre Rawls, Jeremy Kelly, Kortne Ford, Drew Moor, Sebastian Anderson, Collen Warner, Oliver Larraz, Nicolas Mezquida, Matt Hundley, Darren Yapi, Yaya Toure
I imagine it’s got to do with the fact that the qualifying team was in Mexico and they have a quarantine period since Basset and Trusty weren’t selected less than 7 days ago. I’m sure they have to pass several tests as well, etc

Kellyn Acosta called up to a “star studded” roster for the USMNT March camp: Here we goooooooo 🇺🇸@KellynAcosta will be joining some of the @USMNT best ahead of its two friendlies.— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) March 17, 2021 Of note, Acosta is one of only three players who are currently playing on US soil. The rest of the roster is made up of nationals who are currently playing in Europe: GOALKEEPERS (3): Ethan Horvath (Club Brugge/BEL; 4/0), Chituru Odunze (Leicester City/ENG; 0/0), Zack Steffen (Manchester City/ENG; 19/0) DEFENDERS (10): John Brooks* (Wolfsburg/GER; 39/3), Reggie Cannon* (Boavista/POR; 13/0), Sergiño Dest (Barcelona/ESP; 5/0), Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls; 19/3), Matt Miazga (Anderlecht/BEL; 20/1), Erik Palmer-Brown (Austria Wien/AUT; 2/0), Tim Ream (Fulham/ENG; 41/1), Bryan Reynolds (Roma/ITA; 0/0), Chris Richards* (Hoffenheim/GER; 1/0), Antonee Robinson (Fulham/ENG; 8/0) MIDFIELDERS (7): Brenden Aaronson (Red Bull Salzburg/AUT; 2/1), Kellyn Acosta (Colorado Rapids; 25/2) Tyler Adams* (RB Leipzig/GER; 12/1), Luca de la Torre (Heracles/NED; 1/0), Sebastian Lletget (LA Galaxy; 18/4), Yunus Musah (Valencia/ESP; 2/0), Owen Otasowie (Wolverhampton Wanderers/ENG; 1/0) FORWARDS: (6): Daryl Dike (Barnsley/ENG; 1/0), Nicholas Gioacchini (Caen/FRA; 2/2), Christian Pulisic (Chelsea/ENG; 34/14), Gio Reyna* (Borussia Dortmund/GER; 2/1), Josh Sargent* (Werder Bremen/GER; 12/5), Tim Weah* (Lille/FRA; 10/1) Based on the names on this roster, and depending on how Vines performs in the Olympic qualifiers, it would appear that Acosta and Vines are now the favorites to miss action this season due to international duty.
They must have edited that in after I had posted as it wasn't at the bottom of the article when I read it lol I noticed that on yesterdays live blog on the Rapids website that when the 2nd half went up it initially said "against Portland" but then was revised a couple minutes later to read "Phoenix" Anyways, thank you for adding! Looks like this won't impact Acosta and he will stay at the camp for the March 28th game against North Ireland as well. I imagine this means he will return to the states on the 29th (assuming he leaves right away the next day) and with a 7 day quarantine (what the players in Mexico did), that would make him eligible to return to practice on the 6th of April assuming no positive COVID tests
After an initial rough start with Berhalter and getting sent home from a USMNT camp, Acosta was worked his butt off to get back in the USMNT picture. In fact, he's worked his butt off to rebound from a low period with the Rapids, too. Couldn't be prouder. He's quality player. We are lucky to have him. I hope that translate to more success with the USMNT.
Olympic Soccer Qualifying - Men Thursday Mar. 18 4:00pm USA vs Costa Rica Fox Sports 1 (That is CDST)
The DVR is set. Hoping to see both Vines and Lewis on the pitch and of course expect Vines will be a starter baring injury. Won't be able to watch until after dinner, so I'll have to stay away from social media after 4pm.
I am really itching to hear from my ticket rep. I assume the delay is due to two things: • The MLS schedule isn't complete beyond the first 2 games. • Getting a variance from Adams County for fans to attend with some restriction. Anyone hear anything?

Well, my work today took me to an appointment 10min away from where the Rapids are practicing. Unfortunately by the time I was able to get to the fields to watch practice from afar (the sports complex is pretty large, and completely fenced off, but you can see the fields from the street).....they were already packing the balls up. Mayaka and Larraz were in charge of lugging the ball bags today, so I guess rookies still get the grunt labor lol! However, looked like it was a good session from how wiped out most everyone looked while loading into the vans. Wish I could’ve gotten there sooner and caught some of the action Hopefully I’ll have an excuse to get down to Tucson again before they ship out!

Results from Olympic qualifying (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Results from Olympic qualifying (open) Results from Olympic qualifying (close) Vines with the assist in the 1-0 win! The kid is alright.
Very disappointing statement from the Rapids on the possibility of fans in attendance. The Rockies will be able to have 21,000 fans at each home game. What is holding up a similar arrangement at Dick's? Why haven't I heard a single word from my ticket representative about the status of my season tickets?
