I honestly feel like Southgate is moving in that direction. Wouldn’t be surprised to see that combination used in at least one of the matches next month.

If we’re sticking with 3-4-3 then that would be my choice.

I don't mind having one of rice or Henderson but not both. I've been unimpressed by Rice I have to say in an England shirt, however he is clearly a half decent player for West Ham (although the hype train on him is a bit ridiculous, he is a good runner and tackler but nothing more than a top 10 PL player imo)

Henderson out for 10 weeks apparently, that brings us to mid May, potentially almost out for the season then? Does this put his place in doubt? I have to say he has been playing CB (and therefore if Southgate stuck to his past comments on other players shouldn't be playing CM), he hasn't looked anything like his old self either this season.

It could be a blessing in disguise, I agree that if we are going with the current formation then Mount-Rice is the best combination. You just know that Southgate will choose Rice-Phillips though with Mount taking one of the front 3 positions which we are stacked in with better attacking players..

This is probably an unpopular opinion but talking about defensive midfielders, I’ve actually been quite impressed with Harrison Reed these days when I’ve seen him playing for Fulham. Obviously he’s not going to be selected and doesn’t get talked about but I think he’s good on the ball and his work rate is good, recycles the ball well from what I’ve seen. If Fulham escape relegation and go from strength to strength, maybe he could become on option in the future for a problem position for us.

Phillips is a good defensive midfielder. His passing range is exceptional

Sancho with his 50th Bundesliga assist today. In just 99 games, with 36 goals thrown in for good measure.

Imagine having a player like that on the bench when we need a goal. Do we bring on sancho foden saka dcl or possibly grealish? Or maybe maddison. Assuming kane sterling and rashford are our front 3

With stats like that, the fact that hes not a nailed on starter is a testament to the strength in depth we have in attacking areas.

Not to mention the idiocy of not allowing 5 subs! This was all to predictable that players will drop like flies towards the end of the season.

Harvey Barnes will be out for at least six weeks and will need a knee operation.

Says minimum so think it will be more but by the sounds of it, it could have been a lot worse. Hope for a speedy recovery and it feels like he will be likely fit for the Euro’s.

Don't think you can blame Barnes' injury on the fixture congestion or the subs rules. It was caused by his leg twisting when landing.

Relatively positive news with Barnes, it looked like a minimum 6 month layoff.

This isn't a good look from Rodgers and the medical staff.

Not directly no but I think it’s relevant due to wear and tear throughout the season especially if he’s been playing with an injury.

Anyone else baffled as to why wan bissaka doesn't get picked for the England squads? Solid right back and hardly puts a foot wrong.

The rate players are dropping out injured with still weeks to go, and with England likely naming another 30 man squad I'm anticipating we might see some interesting call ups for this round of matches.

Harrison Reed is one mentioned above who'll be in with a shout. Our attacking players taking a hit right now with Grealish, Maddison, Barnes all out too. I wonder if Ademola Lookman might not be so far from making a 30 man squad.

I was saying the same myself. Lookman has been fantastic at Fulham. Living up to the hype he got as a youngster. Really hope he gets in.

I think grealish will be back for the qualifiers. Maybe maddison too.

Are Grealish and Maddison out of contention for the next Squad though? Thought I heard that Grealish could be back for Villa’s next game. I’m unsure what Maddison’s recovery time is however.

Because we play with wingbacks and AWB has next to no end-product. His passing is often dodgy too.
