That's for games IN mexico only right? Looking at today's story about CBS picking up CONCACAF rights, it sounds like mexico's games on the road (other than the US of course) is going to CBS.
https://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2...-soccer-rights-streaming-world-cup-qualifying So, games in the USA and Mexico will be on Fox. I assume this also means for games Mexico hosts not vs the USA. Games in which the USA plays abroad that AREN'T in Mexico, will Paramount Plus be needed or is there any hope that they're on CBS or CBS Sports Network? It's been wild to see Outdoor Life Network go from a tiny little channel that had Le Tour and not much else to a behemoth (and soon defunct) and also a tiny little College Sports TV grow to a different behemoth. Of course, this also helped increase the price we all pay, but... It also seems as if games not involving the USA or Mexico will be on Paramount Plus, right? Is this correct? English rights: USA hosting whoever (including Mexico) on FS1 or Fox. Mexico hosting USA on FS1 or Fox. Mexico hosting whoever else on Paramount Plus. Any match not involving those two teams on Paramount Plus. Is there a small chance that games not involving Mexico or USA will be on CBSSN or CBS proper? (I'd doubt broadcast CBS.)
I believe for this cycle it will be as follows: US Home Games - ESPN/FOX (English) & Univision (Spanish) Mexico Home games - Fox (English) & Telemundo (Spanish) Other CONCACAF Home games - Paramount Plus (English) & Telemundo (Spanish) The MLS contract that bundled USMNT qualifiers is up after this cycle Not sure if Fox renewed the English language rights for Mexico as everything I have seen indicates it was through 2018.
TUDN is Univision, so that's the HD option, at least for me. But I'm not sure how you get ESPN in there. It'd be awesome if CBS Sports Network could do a whip around show for the last match day. I can't believe I just said that, but I'm sure it won't happen.
I don't know how Paramount Plus comes up with this many games for these leagues when they only have 26 and 20 teams. Liga Profesional de Fútbol - Paramount Plus will stream more than 300 matches a year from Argentina's top soccer division. Campeonato Brasileiro Série A - Paramount Plus will stream more than 360 matches a year from Brazil's premier soccer league.
I think the Argentine Primera is just one round so 25 match days x 13 games per match day = 325 games. Brazil (like European leagues) is 38 match days x 10 games per match day = 380 games. “More than” less than those games = you have to create wiggle room when South American operations are involved.
On Telemundos broadcast of America vs Chivas, they put up a graphic under the score/time bug showing they are having some of the concacaf qualifying games. The Guatemala game on Peacock, the Panama game and El Salvador game on Universo. Thats all they showed. Also, during halftime they showed another graphic and the host saying they'll have WCQ games. My guess is they have the rights to these games only in spanish language before the octagonal matches.
NBC/Telemundo/Peacock has the Spanish Language rights CBS/Paramount + has the English rights Smart move to put them on Peacock
Peacock is definitely in HD, unlike Telemundo. Smart move indeed. If it was me, I'd put them all on Peacock. It'd be criminal if CBS Sports Network doesn't air the games.
I would as well. No reason not to put the Spanish Concacaf rights they have on Peacock to counteract Paramount+. CBS Sports Network would make sense as well. They didn't want to put any Champions League on CBS Sports Network at first, but they softened their stance
Serie A/Italian Cup to CBS next season. 3yrs/$75M per. After they announce its streaming only I’ll bet they can’t wait for the dozens of signups for Paramount+. And less after the Ronaldo transfer back to Spain/England or France. You probably already have P+ if you wanted it for UCL. I’ve been streaming TUDN for the last two years. Thx, Jay!
