Why the hell would he go to Italy? PSG has Pochettino connection.

Son has no business playing in Europa League. It’s far beneath him.

    Ok I believe you.

Anyways, is there an update on Kane? Not in the squad today and there’s an important game on Sunday against an in-form West Ham.

Not sure what being a great dribbler has to do with Son being more direct. It’s a mindset and something he did quite a lot of before Mourinho arrived. He dawdles on the ball too long now rather than being direct and making shit happen. You saw it again today in the first half against West Ham when receiving the ball on the wing... rather than attacking immediately he just lingers allowing the rest of the defense to come back.

Btw, the reason Sonny wasn’t starting every game initially under Poch was cos he was 22 and coming into a new league and system.

Reckon he's tired, doesn't have the same level of energy that he had at the start of the season. It's a challenging season for everyone in football, and no one has had a harder schedule than Spurs. Was top of the table when fatigue hit the team.
Wonder if playing some kids can help the issue.

Both of the goals today were down to defensive errors from players that shouldn't have had enough playing time to be really fatigued (Tanganga and Sanchez, although to be fair to Tanganga he's working back to form from an injury). I agree that the midfielders and attackers (especially Son) look gassed though, not sure if there's a real solution there.

Dribbling skill matters for direct wingers because if they're poor dribblers they'll lose the ball more often, I don't know how this isn't obvious. Also, his dribbles per game generally declined under Poch, and was lower under Poch than last season under Mou. This season he's been moved into a wide poacher role which suits his skills a lot more.

He's dispossessed a lot less now and generally makes better decisions, which I think isn't a bad trend especially now that he is 28 years old. I remember young SHM dribbling into pressure and losing the ball frustratingly often while at Leverkusen. I agree that there are times he could try to take a defender on, but that's not really what he's best at, especially when he's off the pace like he was today (due to fatigue or just having a poor game).

Agree to disagree then. I believe Son is/was most effective playing directly... attacking quickly and at speed in as few touches as possible. His no fear attitude was pretty much his best attribute.

I actually agree wholeheartedly that he's best when he's playing directly, but only when he has space, meaning he can take few touches and use his pace to get by a defender. When the space isn't there (such as today's game where West Ham just hunkered down and gave him no space to run into), he can't effectively directly beat a defender with his dribbling (players like prime Hazard and Ribery were the kind of direct dribblers that can do this)

He's actually playing like someone whose pace has left him. Or someone who needs some rest. Hopefully it's the latter as he's still only 28.

Team is clueless on offense. That’s down to coaching.

I would guess a combination of fatigue and just having an off day, not the first time we’ve seen him like this over the years.

yep, fatigue will cause players to make bad decisions and even worst executions...not a good thing.

Yeah I think many people don’t understand that systemic fatigue is something that accumulates and takes a long time to totally dissipate. This season has been extremely recklessly scheduled and players are struggling.

Teams just never give SHM opportunities like that...giving him a 1v1 against a defender with acres of open space behind would be suicide.

i think i've seen similar situations for SHM where a FB closes him down and SHM opts for a touch/pass backwards rather than taking the defender on.

To be fair, Rashford is often criticized for trying to take on players too often and turning the ball over. That clip is one of few times he actually is able to get by, and honestly that’s Newcastle’s weakest defender IMO who could be considered the worst in the whole league.
