Here's Calvert-Lewin going down well before any contact with TAA's leg ...........

Was screaming my lungs out about the exact same thing when we decided to let Lovren go and not sign a CB..It was just poor planning on many levels.

Klopp said we didn't do anything to finish off anything we created ... we created an awful lot and did not do anything to finish off any of them, he claimed. He was rather downbeat.

We really can't continue like this , top four is seriously in jeopardy.

Unfortunately there are no simple changes that are going to spark some massive turnaround only scrambling desperate moves to perhaps make the best of a bad situation. We simply have too many key players injured and I feel there will only be a proper solution when the injured finally return.

However in the meantime I'd like to see him start Phillips-Davies at cb and put Fab back anchoring the mf. Up top Bobby has to sit . I love the guy but honestly he's a shadow of himself. Maybe try Mo in the middle and give Ox or Shaq a run on the wing until Jota is resuscitated .

Agree with this. Need Fabinho back anchoring the MF and roll the dice with the CBs. Have to try something.

If we can get Fabinho and Jota back soon:

    Alisson

    TAA ... Kabak ... Davies ... Robertson

    Thiago ... Fabinho ... Wijnaldum

    Salah ... Mane ... Jota
Subs: Kelleher, Williams, Phillips, Tsimikos, Keita, Jones, OxC, Shaqiri, Firmino, Origi
Try this for a few games. Couldn't be any worse?

On the bright side, I though TAA had a good game. Got into advanced positions, drove into their penalty area a number of times. Also showed good pace to keep up with Calvert-Lewin in a race from the half way line.

there were about 15-20 mins where we remembered to attack in general into the box and dribble instead of crossing right away - several near chances came from that.

I have seen Kabak in 2 games now and usually I can see something special or play that would make me say, he's going to be a good player. Sadly I have seen nothing, I don't knw anything about Davies. Our main issue besides the lack of goals or creation of them, is the defensive mental errors. Each game, we make one and it usually costs us a goal, then their heads drop. If we can play eliminate that issue, then we can be in games mentally.

Are you blaming Kabak for first goal?

Phillips still looks our best back up CB and he kept getting dropped after good performances

To some extent yes, he was ball watching but it was still a good move from Everton. He is not the only one, Robbo let a man behind him and luckily Allison saved the header. But all in all, I do not see anything from him that makes me think, we got a player here. We need somebody as good as or better than Gomez.

Got to disagree there. As a result of Richarlison's movement, Kabak ended up having to mark two players.

Plan for this year was: VvD (plays every game), Gomez, Matip, Fabinho + Henderson/youth

Last year we had VvD, Gomez, Matip, Lovren + Fabinho/Henderson/youth

Last year we never had to go deeper than Lovren despite injury prone Gomez/Matip.

So not unreasonable to go with what we had in the absence of an available CB that we really wanted.

This is the problem. Every time we think things are going to better, they actually get worse. Fabinho may come back from injury, but now we are without Henderson.

The centerback partnership that you are suggesting of Nat Phillips and Ben Davies is the worst in the entire Premier League. I don’t think that is an exaggeration at all. Neither would be playing in the top flight in normal world. You can throw Kabak in there and I don’t think that changes.

Sitting Firmino down seems like a good idea, but the players you suggest replacing him with haven’t performed for Liverpool in years.

It’s not interesting to talk about Liverpool’s problems, because there is only one thing to discuss. Injuries. To have our captain go down injured was yet another hammer blow.

After the first Everton game, the question was, how will we cope without the best CB in the world? Now the question is, how will we cope with the worst CB’s in the entire Premier League?

it was only a few days ago that people were complaining that Kabak wasn't starting, coz he'd solve the problems at the back.

now we're saying another unseen and untested CB needs to step in to solve the problems?

    jesus.

what? you agreed with speke who said "start Phillips-Davies at cb " then you show Kabak at CB?

wtf did Philips do wrong today? not a damn thing that I saw. why is everyone ignoring him? he's been damn good each time we've seen him.

I agree that he’s looked pretty solid when he has played, but how much is Liverpool suffering in other areas to compensate for him being out there? What does Liverpool want in a centerback? Pace and good on the ball. Phillips is slow and not a good passer.

While Trent would normally want to be 30 more yards up the pitch, he’s standing next to Phillips to provide him with an easy pass and making sure he doesn’t get left isolated with a pacy forward on the counter.

I'm pretty sure that if Davies plays the next game and plays poorly. most of the ppl saying he needs to step in, will rip Klopp to bits for selecting him.

we are down to our 6th and 7th choice CBs. if Fab gets fit soon, it'll be 4th and 6/7th choices.
face it -- we can juggle and jiggle the CB combos all we like, we are fukked until next season.

and Fab or Hendo back in mf won't solve today's game. our problem today had zero to do with the midfield. we overwhelmed them repeatedly. our defence wasn't the problem either.
the reason we came away with nothing is we didn't finish the many chances we created.

so what's your solution Suss? are you saying none of our CBs apart from Virgil and Gomez are good enough?
