Here's your all-purpose thread/sticky for generic YA news -- odd "Whatever happened to..." posts, questions, and other stuff you just aren't quite sure what to do with. Here's last season's: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/all-about-yanks-abroad-catchall-thread-2019-20.2105002/ Here's an archive of YA "All About..." threads (they used to be much more interesting and active, worth a look if you want to see some blasts from the past): http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/all-about-yanks-abroad-thread-archive.914322/ Here's the Detective Work thread if you're interested in researching guys who might be Yanks Abroad: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...-guy-is-a-yank-detective-work-thread.1987805/ And the obligatory old-school photo:
German article about how a US troop withdrawal would affect local clubs. You need to have a free account to read the full article. https://www.onetz.de/oberpfalz/graf...amerikaner-fuer-vereine-region-id3072482.html
USL Madison signed a guy named Noah Fuson: Fuson grew up in Los Angeles, but moved to the i2i Soccer Academy in England after high school to focus on starting a professional career. Prior to signing with the Flamingos, Fuson had earned trials with Sacramento Republic FC and Loudon United FC of the USL Championship. https://www.forwardmadisonfc.com/news_article/show/1118120 i2i seems to be one of those post-HS showcase-and-school programs. https://www.i2isocceracademy.com/
Another i2i connection. Marco Marquez is heading to England with i2i. Recent HS grad from the Dallas-area. https://www.facebook.com/i2isocceracademy/posts/3436675293019803
Here's a story about some young Yanks spending a year with German club SC Borea. It's in German. http://www.fussball.de/newsdetail/sc-borea-us-boys-kicken-in-dresden/-/article-id/218368#!/ @dark knight or @bungadiri, could we swap this story out for last year's sticky please?
Came across an old story about a Dutch lower-division player named Dave Magee with an American father. https://www.vvspartanijkerk.nl/nieuws/dave-magee-31-nieuwe-aanwinst-sparta-nijkerk/ Hi there @dark knight and @bungadiri and @TheFalseNine -- could we make this the sticky in place of the old thread? Perhaps we could just retitle it without the years. These threads don't get much traffic any more, though they still have their use.
Since he's been back in the States for a while, I'll just note here the NISA Md. Bobcats' signing of a young man who has played in El Salvador: The team is getting youngerDylan Ogletree signs for 2021Born in England, he played club before moving to the US for HS, playing at @LaPlataHS (yes, here in MD) he spent 1 year at @RandolphMacon & in ‘18, left to play in El Salvador’s 1st Div*pending NISA and USSF approval pic.twitter.com/ZAp8HZLU50— Maryland Bobcats FC (@MDBobcatsFC) February 27, 2021 He was born in England, as the club states, so I guess it's possible that he isn't American, though he was apparently slated to attend the USNA; that is possible for non-citizens, but sufficiently unlikely that it seems OK to post here. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...d-to-spark-la-plata-boys-soccers-playoff-run/ https://www.rmcathletics.com/sports/msoc/2017-18/bios/ogletree_dylan_7cgi?view=bio
I resemble this remark... Neven Subotic signed with a new club over a month ago and none of the diehards in BigSoccer's YA forum have even updated his thread. How the mighty have fallen.— Jamie Hill (@_jameshill) March 5, 2021
Here's a guy who signed with Chattanooga Red Wolves who spent time in the lower divisions of Italy. I couldn't find a previous thread. https://www.chattanoogaredwolves-sc.com/news_article/show/1150349
Huh, I remember that name, I think probably from this announcement. At the time the Cosmos didn't say he was American; maybe he wasn't. In any case, I haven't looked into it. https://www.nycosmos.com/news/2017/04/21/cosmos-b-announces-2017-roster That release is quite the roll call of assorted YAs!
A look at the American players out on loan - and what could lie ahead There are many American players out on loan at the moment and each situation is unique. ASN's Brian Sciaretta looks through all of the loans, breaks them down, and sees where things are trending next season. http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/a-look-at-the-american-players-out-on-loan-and-what-could-lie-ahead

German sources reported last year that Leroy Sané (yes, that one) had a son with his American girlfriend, Candice Brook, in addition to the daughter they already had together. For whatever reason this has not been widely reported/confirmed that I could find, which might just be the family's preference, or who knows. I mention this mainly because ... why not? (And, for the record, in addition to Sané being German, his father played for Senegal.)
Here's a feature from the club site about an American-born fellow named Jermaine Greene, who works in a fan support capacity at Werder Bremen (and plays at a local level): https://www.werder.de/aktuell/news/weitere-news/menschen-bei-werder-jermaine-greene-15062021/
