    Wow!
AC Milan will probably play in UWCL next year so the choice is sound. They transfered lately one of the best players from W-League: Natasha Dowie and last month Vero Bouqete. With Bergamaschi, Giacinti, Simic, Refiloe Jane, Fusetti and Agard - their roster is starting to look really respectable.

I have to admit that when I first saw the headline and saw "長谷川" and "AC" I thought she was moving to Nagano and wondered why she would transfer to a lower division team. Then the part of my brain that can make some sense of Japanese caught up. ;)

Even though other Nadeshiko League players have made the move abroad recently, this is still a shock to me. Well deserved and not completely unexpected, but still a shock.

I feel for you friend :speechless:

Look on the bright side though Hasegawa may yet pull Maradona.

When 1984, Maradona (age 24) joined SSC Napoli - somewhat an "average" Serie A team at the time - not many expected that he will become club legend, leading them to 2 championships, scudetto and UEFA Cup (pre-Champions League) ;)

I support Beleza, not Hasegawa personally, so...

I don't think that Hasegawa will lead them to anything else but Scudetto (maybe). Milan will be destroyed in Europe, Destroyed! If Hasegawa will stand on her head at Milan, maybe she will transfer to Lyon or Barcelona later (probably not). The Italian league is not that strong, I don't think that she will improve there...

Not good for the NT as well.

Now I see why Beleza signing all those kids, they literally have no-one to play. Beleza will be another Cerezo it seems like, Congrats to Urawa and INAC. A lot of fun games are incoming. Scores will be 4-4 etc. Low quality but quite entertaining.

FA WSL and Serie A invest biggest money in women's football. Next 3 years may see AC Milan buying roster on level with Lyon. Take notice where Chelsea or Man City were 5 years ago and where are they now.

Dunno what's going on in Tokyo Verdy, but if money are in fact the issue then selling players in order to keep afloat one of most successful academies in WoSo is the right move. Seeing Takemoto taking the elevator down from the office to the pitch side again may indeed point to cuts policy.

One could say that losing WWC bid - under present situation - is the best thing that could happen for JFA as billlions of yen may now be moved/released into direct help for WE League and women's football in general.

It continues. Ariyoshi and Sakaguchi will be transferring to Omiya Ardija Ventus. They haven't played much in recent seasons, but it still feels like a punch in the gut.

What's incredible, for a player of that international caliber, is that, after reading the "bomb" sent by @unepommekun at Italian midnight yesterday, I didn't manage to find any source here in Italy confirming the news (including Milan AC website and Twitter feed, that are buried under news from the men's team :x3:): this gives you a clear idea of the almost inexistent consideration women's football still has here in Italy, despite NT's success at WWC 2019 and Serie A Femminile starting to have some exposure.

I mean: if this was men's football, or even women's football in a country where it even minimally counts, as France or Germany or England, this transfer would be Top News material. Here, I scoured the news this morning and I can't even find a single mention of Hasegawa, despite the fact that she's reportedly already in my town (in my town!!!! Can you believe it? One of my favourite Japanese player is in my town, she could even be in my immediate neighborhood, as long as I know! And, with Covid-19 restrictions in force, I can't even hope to go seeing her at the stadium soon! :x3::x3::x3: Oh, man, how can I relate to @Manchester Nadeshiko and Iwabuchi's transfer!).

Now I have one more reason to eagerly wait for the end of this pandemic: I could become a regular at Milan AC's matches, now that there is Hasegawa playing! :ninja:

Beleza......It would be great if someone out there could unearth the real story of what is really going on at the club.
Methinks money money money may lie buried underneath it all but what do I know.
It doesn't make sense to me that in the non professional era the Green Machine attracts and retains a lot of the best players around and is successful year after year and now females are about to be able to play football as a career there's an exodus......It's backwards
Can somebody please explain to me why my team have just sold a player who is one of their most valuable assets on the pitch or is it the case that she just happens to be one of their most valuable assets in monetary terms and the club are cashing in their chips.
If the latter is the case I am not looking forward to the future.
Edit...The loss of Arioshi and the deity known as Mizuho Sakaguchi may not have that much of a detrimental effect on the pitch but "punch in the gut" sums up my feelings too.It feels like everything 'green' is being turfed out

    * frantically scours merchandising websites for an Hasegawa's jersey *

Oh, did I ever tell you that in my youth, when I was still following men's football (stopped around 2005-2006), I was an avid Milan AC's supporter? That my idols were Maldini, Baresi, Gullit, Van Basten and such?
Feels so strange to have an excuse to wear a Milan's jersey *again*. :ninja::devilish::ninja: (The devil is Milan's symbol, although he's not actually shown in the crest).

Actually, INAC sold quite some relevant players too: maybe the new big clubs buying everything in sight (Omiya in particular) are going to dominate the league alongside Urawa? :cautious:

Well, in my defense 99% of the news mentioning Hasegawa were posted on the various Italian media one or two hours ago at max! When I was eagerly looking for them earlier this morning, there was abzolutely nothing to be found yet! :p

For instance: this tweet on Milan AC's official twitter channel (also mentioning that Yui just turn 24 today! :geek: happy Birthday! :giggle:) is from two hours ago:

She was very emotional after the Empress Cup Final and I recall trying to figure out what that was about but, finding nothing, I quickly forgot about it. The photo with Nagata from her Twitter jogged my memory a bit, though.

It being her birthday was actually how I first found out about the move! I was looking around to see if any of her teammates had mentioned it yet and I then I saw the transfer headlines.

I was at work at the time, so I had the presence of mind to curse under my breath, but it was loud enough that the person three desks over asked what was wrong.

By the way, we, regular posters here, are not really a lot of people: I find quite funny that @Manchester Nadeshiko and me live in Manchester and Milan and suddenly, almost at the same time, two top Nadeshiko stars trasferred to our respective towns. What was the chance? It's not like we're covering the whole world with our posters... :giggle:

@Lechus7, you have a women's club in your town? At this rate, you should expect some Japanese NT member to transfer there soon!

Bliss.....Just to put the record straight Mana is at Aston Villa....Villa are a Birmingham (Midlands) club
(She just happened to be playing Man City Women here in Manchester on that particular day I was cursing my luck)
I do intend to travel to see her play when crowds are back. Not holding my breath though as the Covid situation here in UK is desperate.

Oh, you're right! Sorry, I am too much excited by the Hasegawa news and I tend to mix up everything! :p

I am afraid it will still be long before football game with crowds, either in UK or Italy, too. Luckily I still have a photo of Yui that I took that day in Algarve, do you remember? :D

Sad thing is, normally in women football, no-one pays a lot of money for transfers. Recently Damaris Egurolla was bought by Lyon from Everton. President said that when such a huge club comes and willing to pay 6 figures for your player, you have no choice but to sell. Talking about 6 figures we talking about $100 000.

So, I don't think that Beleza are actually selling players, either releasing them for free not to pay a big salary to them and they get some compensation for raising a player or maybe some transfer fee, under $100 000 for Hasegawa (might be the only actual transfer fee)...

What is $100 000 (probably not even that) for your key player? Now you can cover Muramatsu, Nakasoto and Kanno salary for a season? (who was just re-signed hey! ... ) Again, probably not enough even to cover those 3 bang average players.
