Because Aaronson took his sweet time moving to Europe. I'm sure he'll be allowed to sit with the adults very shortly.
Per the rules of this forum, he'll only graduate once he's played a competitive game in Austria's first division. The Austrian Bundesliga entered its winter break prior to Aaronson joining the club and the season still hasn't restarted yet, meaning so far he's only played in a friendly.
Then why are Morris and Arriola in the main forum? They've never played in Europe. It's pretty commonplace for MLS players to drop straight in there. This is an inconsistent rule for guys who were previously in MLS & Aaronson has already played 1st team football in a better league. He's not an academy player or reservist. And once you get promoted from that level, it's permanent. So Aaronson's thread should already be entrenched on the main forum. Many won't know otherwise that his debut is this weekend. They may miss it. IMO, remove Philly from the title, except for saying "It's Always Sunny Out of Philadelphia", and promote it ASAP.
Arriola is in the main forum because he previously played abroad in a second tier first division (Mexico). I referred to Austria specifically because this is about Aaronson, but the rules are for yanks abroad, not just in Europe. Morris is in the main forum because that thread was started 5 or 6 years ago before the current rules were strictly enforced, and I guess the mods just didn't notice or decided to let that go when I bumped it.
Not too concerned. Anyone who searches for Havertz will find this thread very easily, and if they search for Aaronson almost as easily.
I will say, I'm not a huge fan of having to keep an eye on a forum full of players I'll probably never see play just to catch the occasional update about an established player or two already on everyone's radar, and in some cases already in Europe, but the rules are what they are, and I don't think they've been applied inconsistently in recent years.
I'm kind of not into the puns for thread titles. Sometimes, I only care if a player plays in a certain league or club but I have to figure out by a clue in the thread title if I am going to care?
The worst part about this forum is the dozens of thread suggestions, 90% of which are cringe. And just clog up the thread. Oh, 16 posts today in the haji wright thread? I bet something big happened with him today!! Oh. Nope. :/ “Brendan Aaronson- Red Bull Salzburg” there. That’s a great title.
I actively dislike the puns. They are cringey and make us look even dweeby-er then we are already. Clint Dempsey @ Fulham F.C. That's a proper thread title.
Ahh, I see the pun-haters have aired their customary periodic grievances. What a strange way to spend your energy, grumbling about the fun of wordplay.
Bungadiri gave pun thread title haters a chance to vote a couple times, but when it looked like we could win or at least make it competitive he used his dictatorial powers to choose the thread titles and then quit putting them to a vote. Hating the pun thread titles is not the same as hating puns. I could argue some of the thread title suggestions indicate someone hates puns.
If this forum was saturated with witty, creative types; then I’d be ‘team post puns’ but alas... it’s not.

Two e's, Two a's, Two o's: Brenden Aaronson @ RB Salzburg Making a Name for Himself: Brenden Aaronson @ RB Salzburg
RB Salzburg went up 2-0 immediately after Aaronson came on, he was not involved. Playing left attacking midfield in the 4-4-2 box midfield that they sometimes appear to use.
Aaronson's great pass up the wing to Koita, who rolls the ball dangerously across the six-yard box - very good clearance to ruin Aaronson's first attempt at a hockey assist.
Aaronson good turn with room to dribble, draws second yellow on Haudum who commits a probably cynical late foul, and Salzburg now up a man for the last ten minutes.
Full time, good win in Aaronson's debut. He looked fast relative to the competition, no skill deficit that I can see. Some signs of not knowing what his teammates were planning, but to be fair, he barely has minutes with them.
