Per my earlier posts, it's an issue of fundamentals for me. They dont have a clue what to do in any given situation. They are failing the basics and it shows in how easy it is for other teams to score against us. It's a lack of work rate and any premier league side is going to punish that, especially one vying to top the table. Players are simple creatures, you dont want to have them improvising allover the pitch or engaging in a discussion with 5 team mates about a throw in or free kick. What is strange to me is I would expect a new coach who has recently earned his badges to be all over these things but it seems we are still obsessed with playing open attractive football that the exact opposite is happening. Trying to run before we can crawl. Even talented players need a framework to work in.
Lei is on top of the League and scored 5 on Pep and 2-0 on Jose, so yeah ugly performance but a smidgen of perspective in order
Pretty bleak. That second goal surely should not have counted but we’re playing like we deserve to be 2 down.
Lethargic play from us. No urgency. No passion. I blame the players tbh. All of them. I am seeing nothing interesting tonight.
that's fair, but clearly they are doing something much better. Their attacks look like they intend to do something. For us, it's like drying paint.
All good points, but you'd think passion and work rate and desire to play for a manager would at least be obvious....
Last minute of the half kind of summed us up. Pass it around the back, up one side, back , around the back, down other side. I actually thought we looked a little better for a few spells of this game, but once again, no final product Their 2nd goal was our last month on one play. Narrowly miss PK by inches and they basically score off the goal kick
No doubt, but Vardy Maddison Barnes, Ndidi, Tielmans have been a starting unit for a few years now, ours still piecing together and we are without Kante, not an excuse, especially for the effort from some, but starting over again will just put us in a deeper hole and less likely to get in top 4 need show of heart and serious effort this half, or players involved need to sit for a few
Exactly. The opposite is happening. Just buying talented players and having aspirations doesnt overnight produce a great team, we need to build up to it. Put in the hard yards.
Did Klopp’s Liverpool get significantly worse in every way after signing new players before becoming good?
Tammy needs to move to the ball rather than let the defender get there first, at least put them under pressure
We do have to take into account that, simply put, Leicester are just a better team than us, you don't sit top of the league unless you're top of your game. What WE need to see is improvements and the problem Lampard has is the team is NOT improving yet in any way shape or form, I was hopeful that we would see improvements as the season progressed but let's be honest, it ain't happening.
