He’s started 8 of the last 11 league matches...thé cup matches are usually a changed side.

Egregiously fouled thrice before his teammate delivers a miss to remember.

    Frustrating play.

He has started in 1 of the last 5 I believe after a solid number in a row. He was only on the pitch for a few minutes today and what an impact! That was fantastic. More please :)

He is so damn fast. And strong. And determined. And composed. And unselfish.

All on this sixteen second play.

That was a ridiculous run. Midfield or forward, he needs to be in the starting 11.

Us Soccer did not include him on their weekly schedule. They also didn’t tweet about his game. Maybe it’s just a mistake, but it’s not a good sign. No US players commented on his Instagram post either.

For people here who are not on social media, the USMNT twitter page posts weekly about most of our players whether they are on the bench or starting and in the weekly schedule. Musah has been included in both since his caps, this week was the first time he didn’t get a mention in either, from the official USMNT twitter account

That would be a horrible blow. He might not even be a lock starter, but there’s no doubt how important he would be for us for years to come.

Kid does a midair elastico, outruns two defenders, even after having to run about 10 yards farther than the last defender due to the foul shove, and then sets the table for an attacker with no one in the zip code. Great great play from Yunus. Hope no one from the FA is watching!

Well at least if you go to the main USMNT page of US Soccer there is a picture of the team prior to the Wales match and he's right there front and center.

Glad it all got sorted so quickly. Could've had a penalty awarded on that last foul in the box; AND the left side attacker could've continued his run as well. The guy in the middle could've dished to him for an easy tap in. Amazing play by Musah, the exact opposite by his teammates.

Well there is a reason Valencia is neck deep in a relegation battle at the business end of La Liga currently.

And why Musa will be playing D1 ball no matter what happens with Valencia.

And why he will, probably, leave in the summer even if they do stay up.

Is England's twitter doing the same thing? It seems very American to try to boost his Q rating (the popularity measurement, not that other thing). And I bet a lot of these guys -- driven by success and vanity -- react well to it.

Edit: also to have your first tweet be a 3rd person nickname you've given yourself atop a smiling photo is hilarious. If only the photo were a selfie...

It's definitely not true for every situation, but for a guy like Musah the endorsement opportunities that come from playing for the USMNT over another side are probably greater if you believe that whoever he picks internationally won't change too much at the Club level.

Guiseppe Rossi lost millions of dollars when he decided to play for Italy IMO.

Dest is another guy who's going to make more money being a USMNTer than a Dutchman.

With that all being said, I'm more excited that we are building depth at the midfield. Having a guy that can be interchangeable in the same system as a McKennie or Adams (not saying they are the same players but they can play in the same system with similar strengths) is HUGE. And probably something we really haven't had a lot to tinker with at the international level. For much of the late 90s through the mid 2010s the we didn't have guys like that that would sit on the bench where they were seen as being near equal with talent and club.

Sasha Kljestan is probably the guy that comes to mind with someone who got blocked when he was playing at a level that was higher than a good portion of the roster who played at other positions.

Yeah, it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to have reliable midfielders that can make a difference off the bench...especially in a tournament format. We’re still looking for Johnny, Otasowie, or someone else to be that reliable back up #6.

I mean, you could also say that about Benny Feilhaber, Lee Nguyen, Kyle Beckerman (until the end of his career, criminally overlooked for the first 75% of it). But yea, you could also say that our starters are better, and doing bigger things at better clubs, and our subs and reserves are MUCH better; we won't have to rely on the MLS "pretty good" player for too much longer. It's star domestically or produce internationally or bust.

It's going to be really interesting how the next World Cup roster is constructed. Our best teams typically end up being (slide points in either direction) about a 60/40 Europe to North America composition.

For the top 23? probably will be close. For starting 11 probably 80/20 Euro/MLSers.
