"Sport1" report Bayern refrains from buying Dantas - internal amazement at Flick's dream player

At the beginning of October, shortly after Deadline Day, FC Bayern announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Tiago Dantas. The 20-year-old was loaned from Benfica Lisbon until the end of the season and should first show his skills in the third division. About three months later, it is apparently clear that Dantas, one of the biggest winners of the last market value update, has no future with the Munich team beyond the 2020/21 season.

As reported by "Sport1", the German record champions have decided to let the purchase option of 7.5 million euros for the junior national player expire. Those responsible around sports director Hasan Salihamidzic have other plans for Bayern's midfield.

In the second team of FCB, Dantas came to the train in seven games over a total of 459 minutes, remained without a scorer point. For the pros, he was in the squad for the first time on matchday 14 in the 5-2 win against Mainz 05 on January 3 - but without being used. Dantas has only been eligible to play for the first team since January 1st.

Well, the boy is already 20 and not 17 anymore and it is clearly not even enough for the 3rd division. Of course it cannot develop, but not as drastically as it should. Brazzo seems to have a plan and for that he cannot afford to burn 7.5 million for Tiago. So it’s ok if he’s already communicating like that. ...

On the Bayern campus, the fact that head coach Hansi Flick nominated his supposed dream player Dantas for the Bundesliga and ignored home grown Angelo Stiller caused astonishment. In the youth department, Dantas' performance in the reserve was rated as only moderate overall.

The “Münchner Abendzeitung” had also reported that the campus was surprised that Dantas was rated more strongly than Stiller. According to reports, the midfielder is dealing with an exit from Munich because he sees no long-term perspective on assignments in the professional team. According to matching media reports, the 19-year-old is about to move to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Funded by Flick at FC Bayern: Tiago Dantas has long-term ties to Benfica Lisbon Flick favorite Dantas still has a contract with his hometown club Benfica Lisbon until 2024, including a release clause of 88 million euros. “As a trainer, I really enjoy working with him. Tiago is a great footballer, he's open-minded and eager to learn. Tiago has his own identity, he's an exciting player. He is small but has strong dispositions. We will work on his physique. We have a clear plan to improve this, ”said Bayern's head coach in October at“ Sport1 ”. Unlike him, Salihamidzic is no longer planning with the Portuguese - instead, the ex-professional wants to sign another central midfielder, it is said.

by the way, Hasan was watching Munich derby between II and 1860 in person where Dantas was invisible.

and a lot of Bayern fans were hyping him to max from Summer-onwards, claiming he'll replace Spanish Thiago and how if Flick rates him that it means he's good etc, LOL.

what's nonesense is Flick saw him when 13 and for 7 YEARS OBSESSES about this player. ******** sake he did well at 13 big fricking deal.

    LMAO

    Bayern fan
I am very grateful for what Flick has done in the past year. Still, this transfer was certainly the dumbest idea he ever had. Dantas is part of the reason why the second team is battling relegation right now. Not only did he take away valuable playing time from players like Rhein, Scott, he also blocked a spot in the first team's training that should have belonged to Stiller who will be leaving the club now. A decision as understandable as it is infuriating. And all that for a 20 year old who will struggle to get a foot into professional football.

    Benfica fan,
He wasn't even starting for our B team when he left but Benfica fans thought he would get to Bayern and develop into a world class player instantly for some reason lol

    Bayern fan
Yeah, a lot of Bayern fans were convinced he'd simply get the Goretzka transformation and turn into the next Thiago over night.

    Benfica fan
You have to admit a 7.5m clause is ridiculous for a promising 19 year old player , literally every benfica fan that gives a shit has known him since like 16 years old. Regardless, im happy Bayern got ********ed in this business

The man got no confidence atm. Knew he would miss.

    Salihamidžić messed up.

Sarr, Choupo Costa are no doubt the flops ,also Süle, Tolisso, Boateng might need to leave as well. new defenders is a necessity.

would say no one is playing that well. Pavard is getting worse called it day 1 he's not Bayern material and Hernandez most ovepriced player in history. Not far from getting embarrassed by Reese, LMAO.

Boateng has 2021 contract anyways. Although for cbs with high line it makes it too easy for other teams. It worked last season but not this one. Like same thing for dfb, high line bit us in ass long term.

Yeah Bayern defense has been awful this season. Süle and Alaba are too slow, Davies has been far from his best since his injury and, and i fan of the guy , now i know why you never rated Pavard particularly highly and you thought they overpaid (35m) for him, in part because of one great World Cup goal.

It was clear that Bayern's last minute depth signings were all mediocre.

In defence, Alaba is leaving for free and has been underperforming, Pavard is playing like crap, Sule is struggling somewhat and Boa is also leaving. Never got the hype about Hernandez, €80m was a joke. Some rebuilding will be required in the summer.

I am pleased that someone else will win the Pokal.

Sule not that slow, I recall its been said he's fast. Issue is that his positioning isn't always good and what's slow is his reaction time.

Pavard, said this from day 1, years.
When Pavard was at Stuttgart best defensive player wasn't Pavard it was Kempf.

Is Kempf who is one of Stuttgart's top performers whenever fit Bayern Material?
As much as I like him answer is no.

so why would Pavard be good enough outside of Bayern obsessing over French players.

irony is Coman who's been meh for years is only performing Frenchie out of 6, Kouassi always injured. Outside of always injured took WAY too much time to finally show productivity.

not too sure if there is money and Martinez, Alaba and Boa will all leave free transfer.

and Flick is delusional, After the Dantas reports he was so butthurt about it that he got pissed. He still want to force him in 1st team so that club buys him and Hasan who all reports say isn't impressed nor wants to waste $8M when that money can be used elsewhere.

Looks like Bayern Munich will implode again due to shit transfers and planning. This is why Bayern can never build dynasty in Europe because someone always bungles it up.

Spending $35M on Pavard is like Sanches will be sold at loss same for Hernandez if sold ain't no way anyone pays that much money. And list is long of players sold at a loss.

As someone who hate RBL, I even think it is better if RBL win the bundesliga this year rather than Bayern. Just about time.

Of course I hope Bayer or Gladbach, but it looks unrealistic. Especially Gladbach, watch them defeat Bayern then lose against Freiburg, very inconsistent club.

If anyone other then Bayern wins the title it will be Leipzig or Dortmund imo. Neverkusen will always choke and like you say Gladbach are too inconsistent.

Dortmund will really be kicking themselves, so many dropped points v bottom half teams. I mean despite underperforming badly for a lot of this season all it would have taken was for them to have beaten Bayern at home, which was possible, and they would be top now lol. Small margins.
