Dybala's career seems to went to the same path as Saviola. A player that already play at high level at young age but never really improve much during their peak age. Dybala averaging almost 23 goals per season in his first 3 seasons at Juve, and he's only 22-24 at the time, so the hype surrounding him was justified at the time. However, his form declined instead of improving for next few seasons when he's basically entering a prime age of footballer.

    He has two main problems:
    - always starts slow every season.
    - gets injured a lot and always takes quite a while to get back into form after coming back (yesterday another injury...).

Dybala’s problem, at least IMO, is that he’s happier to be a celebrity than a footballer. On talent alone, I think only Messi is better than him on our squad(Kun in his prime probably had more eye for goal but Dybala’s vision and dribbling was and is better). Also, Juve has continuously done him an injustice. First with sticking with Allegri, who was a terrible manager for him. He wasn’t allowed to play freely. And second, they signed Christianity. He took away his free kicks and penalties. Dybala should’ve pushed for a move. Yet with this all said, he was still the league mvp last season.

His main problem was staying at Juve far too long. They changed his position from a lethal and complete 9 to a 10 who's asked to play both the creator and finisher of the team. It worked to an extent the first year. Still scoring respectable numbers. Juve's creative midfield is nonexistent since Pogba left. Which left Dybala doing both jobs. Hell he still doing well at times despite the disrespect and poor coaching. He was named MVP of last season (with Ronaldo on the team). The real issue is consistency and that falls on Dybala for taking the abuse and not forcing a move away. If he was in City under Pep as a 9 he would be the best striker for Argentina and one of the best in the world. Like that 2016-2017 season. Named 15th in the Balon D'or voting.

This is what I meant when I said he’s wasted away so much of his career at Juve.

At any other place, he would’ve gained a way better playing system/way better recognition.

The question is what club would’ve got the best out of Dybala? Barcelona in their heyday, Man City? He needed somewhere he could be free. We saw under Sarri how good he was. But Juve didn’t win the CL and he was fired.

The River-Palmeiras match is quite good. River has scored 2 in the first half. They’ve almost made up for the first game. One more and they’re deadlocked.

That shit was disgraceful... why even play the game if he had already decided who he wanted to go through.

Montiel’s goal should’ve stood. I don’t really understand that one.

Damn shame we could've had an all Argentine final in both competitions. Sad stuff but I guess last years Copa wasn't enough.

Rest in piece Maradona, Sabella and Rossi. Losing Sabella and Maradona really hurts Argentine football for what both did in terms on quality and inspiration of quality players. They will be sorely missed.

That was why officiating in CONMEBOL is a joke. Suarez was a clear penalty. He was clipped and lost his balance simultaneously.

River really blew it in the first leg. Carrascal being an idiot and conceding cheap goals. The first especially from Armani. They dominated both matches and having watched all four sides were the best organized, coached and with the most flair. Palmeiras are a dreadful side.

It is a reflection on how average club football has become in CONMEBOL with the best young players always disappearing and often being ruined and veterans returning well past their sell by date.

Gaich needs to return to Argentina. The decision to go to Russia I am sure was not his. It is as usual made by agents seeking to make as much money as they can for themselves. He has wasted several months. Colidio is doing the same at St-Truiden. Our youngsters need better advice. Almada and Sarmiento both need to understand their playing time will be extremely limited at City if indeed they get any. They are both too young , still have a lot to learn and be physically stronger. Garre wasted a whole season of his senior career there.

Our other senior players need to step up as well and become dominant forces for their clubs. Messi as usual after a decent rest. Martinez at Inter , Gonsalez at Stuttgart. de Paul carrying Udinese once again and returning to form. Others like Alario and Palacios need to leave that awful club Leverkusen. Even the fans are bemused by their omissions. Who knows if the coach dislikes Argentines or is giving preference to German players. Whatever the reason they need to move ASAP.

Regarding Sabella. A true gentleman of the game and Pachorra was a fine playmaker. Had he a little more speed even better. But competing with Diego and Ricardo Bochini would have been a hard task for everyone. Restored pride in the shirt, turned down a huge contract in the Gulf to manage the seleccion and really we should have won in 2014. Despite Messi and Kun not being fit and losing di Maria so early on against Belgium.

Missed greatly by Sheffield United fans.

My dad says he remembers watching him dribble on ice at the (Bramall) lane when the others players couldnt stand up.

Man City, definitely. But even the playing style of a Napoli or Lazio would’ve been better for Dybala than Juve.

Sarri came from Napoli. But when Dybala was sold to Juve for 30+ME, only Juve had the funds to buy him in Italy.

Also, Pep did not arrive to City 2016, where Paulo was already at Juve.

We probably should be glad that he didn’t go to Tottenham. Maybe he could’ve saved Poch’s job but if he couldn’t, he’d be under JM right now. He just needs to get healthy and find a new club in the summer. He’s done all he could do at that club. But again, he needs to avoid certain clubs, which include, United, Atletico, and any other negative footballing teams.

Well, looks like no Argentine will be in the CL final. It will be an all brazuca final.

    Boca have been pretty toothless.
What a terrible play by Fabra. Deserved red card.

Although, we may get an all Argentine final in the Cooa Sudamericana.

Almada vs Zorro lets go.... Luca should've started though. Terrible decision by the coach, he was your best player last game.

it would be wise to bring in a new keeper, armani was okay with the NT mind you that im a river fan and he can do no wrong, for the NT it needs something extra.
argentina has players they dont have function. not to make any boca fans feel some type of way but boca is very much like argentina in terms of how they play.
they dont have a style or function, they depend on players showing up rather than the team playing as a unit. modern football you need that, u dont need a solo number 10.. those days are over.

Boca's roster is too disjointed, a lot of misfit pieces because they just buy whatever is out there instead of developing a complete product like River. There have been times under Russo where things have clicked quite well but too often he's forced into lineup changes that just have no chance of working. Soldano has no business starting for a club like Boca. Salvio picked a horrible time to regress as usual.

Soldano is absolutely terrible... I am soooo glad you guys have stuck around with him for this long and even happier he starts so often over superior players.

Salvio IMO has always been overrated. Yeah, he had his little goal streak at one point, but even then he wasn’t as on fire as the media was painting him. He can have a knack for goals at times, but for much of the match he’s irrelevant. Decent player, but it was laughable when they were labeling him a star and wanted him back on the NT.

Zarate I used to love in his early days, but at this point he’s a shadow of his former self. His lack of discipline and constant disrespect to his teammates would have been enough for me to kick him out of the team long ago if I were coach, specially as he no longer is that indispensable gamebreaker he was before. The guy obviously still has skill, but personally I think it’d be more beneficial for you guys to start developing promising attackers rather than continue wasting time with Zarate and his last cartridges. Mauro is an MLS player at this point..

Villa, imo, is by faaaar Boca’s best player... I’ve been saying this from the start of the season and I think he kind of proved it with some of his recent performances (River, Racing, etc). The guy has his faults, but as a rival on the other side I can tell you he’s the only one that imposes a little bit of fear.

The only other decent part of Boca is the CB duo and maaaybe Andrada (he’s good, but no Pato Abondanzieri or Cordoba)

Where do you stand on Pavon? I see fans going both ways: some who like him, and others who label him a pechofrio who disappeared everytime boca needed him in the past. Personally I think he’s better than practically your whole roster and could bring a lot to the team.

    How about Tevez?

Villa is frustrating because he's absolutely the biggest threat with his incisive runs but he lacks the final product so often. He needs 10 chances just to pot one. I keep hoping it'll finally click when he gets enough chances but so far it hasn't. I would still be hesitant to let him go though because he's one of the few that puts the opponent off balance.

I like Pavon but it's been so long since we've seen him that I don't know if MLS made him worse. His highlights there were certainly encouraging but impossible to judge as far as his actual development. Maybe being more of "the guy" for the Galaxy will carry over back here because certainly the talent shouldn't be scoffed at.

Tevez was kind of our best goal scorer by default because everyone else sucked so much. He really picked it up in the past year for whatever reason which I didn't expect at all. No complaints about him. I think everything we get from him at this point is icing on the cake. We shouldn't be depending on him so much but somehow he still delivers.

Mac Allister just created the game winning goal in the game between Leeds and Brighton today. Apparently he was also excellent against Man City on Wednesday.

If Lo Celso continues to injure himself and behave unprofessionally, I would look to Mac Allister as a potential replacement in the starting XI.

In other news, Pochettino finally won his first trophy as manager, and got COVID a day later. I hope he recovers well. Icardi scored and Paredes played well in the final against Marseille.

After seeing the scoreline of Napoli vs Fiorentina, I'm so glad Quarta was on the bench for the majority for the match. Pezzella on the other hand...

Lacking formal confirmation, but word going around is that the Japanese government and the IOC have decided privately in a meeting today that the 2020 Tokyo Olimpics will be cancelled definitively...

Shame, as I had faith in our U23 squad and felt they could have achieved big things (as well as mold themselves into the senior NT with this experience), but it is what it is
