Drosophila melanogaster. The only thing I remember from HS Biology. Well, one of two things: I really wanted to bang my Biology teacher. She was a stone cold fox.
Paving the way... After decades abroad, Steve Cherundolo is ready to coach in MLS https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/01/07/steve-cherundolo-coach-mls/ Thx, Jay!
This would not disappoint me, but I'm not sure why he would choose us over literally any of the other open jobs in this league.
Unless he wants to help build an expansion team from nothing, there's only one other open MLS head coaching job right now, and that's not in the US. Gary Neville is going to be the new Inter Miami coach, and Atlanta and the Galaxy have hired their new coaches already.
You may be right. We're just a tweener. We're not likely to offer the most resources, the best salary or the most control over the direction of the program - and we have a history that backs that up. What we do offer in spades is patience with failure, which might be attractive to a new head coach.
Truthfully I don't understand why he's not getting more consideration. He's got loads of experience (even if it's not head coaching experience) and he actively wants to come to the US. Seems like a solid fit to me. Then again I haven't understood why John Harkes isn't getting any consideration either so that shows what I know.
eh, mine was memorable but really only for his last name, "Bado." Kids are merciless...... If I was in that family I think I might have petitioned a court to change my name
They seem to be lasting longer ... I couldn't tell you my rep's name, but I still get emails from the same guy I've had since the stadium move. Before that was Garren who was quite good. Given the club's MO, I have little doubt that Ashton is the guy for this season coming up, whenever/if it starts. He and the others are all under contract, so why spend twice on what MLS must be considering a likely lost year from a revenue standpoint. Levien really knows how to alienate a fan base.
Yeah, Harkes would have been on my shortlist. Based on results, the guy can coach. There's a story there somewhere.
Seems like a nice guy. Last night, after receiving his "get to know me" email, I responded after reading Goff's latest about the coaching change. I told Ben I pitied him in his job working for a team that is becoming more irrelevant in the DMV by the day. I also said the fact that two coaches had been offered jobs and then the job fell through reminded me of the Caleb Porter situation back in the day. Well today he called me and we had a good conversation. Seems like a decent guy. He said they hope to have limited seating at Audi Field "sometime" this season. I told him I was an old fart and would get jabbed sooner than others so I was looking forward to getting back to seeing live soccer.
As for the DCU search, one person tells me there are "some interesting new candidates." No names have surfaced. Chad Ashton appears to be the last domestic candidate.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 10, 2021 Guys and gals, looks like we are getting Thomas Tuchel /s
How disappointing would that be if Ashton was hired. It will the end of my season tickets no doubt. Of course DC tight wads won't spend enough money to get a top coach - prob why Benny was kept so long.
