The good news is that he's got 13 appearances out of 24 games this season (14 league games and 8 Europa League qualifiers).

The bad news is that it's mostly garbage minutes, with nearly all of the non-garbage minutes coming in the EL. He gets PT In the league, but he's gone over 10 minutes just twice and doesn't play against the big teams. Not surprisingly, he's only got one goal.

Not a great season for Aaron. Only four starts, 10 substitutions, and three goals. But his team Maccabi Tel Aviv finished first in the league, so qualifies for the Champions League. His contract goes to June 2020, so wonder if he gets sold or extended this year. Probably has to leave to get more playing time, but who would want to leave Tel Aviv?

Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-0 Hapoel Tel Aviv

Schoenfeld started and went 71 minutes. Stole the ball that set-up the first goal. For those who like the MLS references, ex-Metro, Omer Damari, comes into the match in the highlights.

Maccabi Tel Aviv 1-1 Ness Ziona

Schoenfeld started and went 90 minutes. He scored the equalizing goal. Was unmarked at the far post.

So, that's like 4 goals in the past 2 years?

This season he has two in all competitions. Last season he had four according to the IFA website which does not include European competitions.

Israeli sports site, One, is reporting that Maccabi Tel Aviv is considering trading Schoenfeld to Hapoel Ra'anana. Tel Aviv cannot buy players due to a violation of the Financial Fair Play rules. Hence the discussion of a trade.

This move makes sense. Wonder how well he will perform in MLS after so many years away.

Not sure. I understand that Nashville loaned out Cameron Lancaster to Louisville City, but when I look at their current roster, I do rate these players higher than Schoenfeld.
    1. David Accam
    2. Dominique Badji
    3. Abu Danladi
    4. Daniel Ríos
Yes, he is taller than Badji but not nearly as fast as the others. So unsure how they envision using him.

According to sites in Israel, Aaron’s agent is shopping him around to all the big clubs because his MLS option is not being picked up.

I've never got his career trajectory. With 5 goals in 51 league games over three seasons, he was a nothing burger in the USA (except in the 2014 USL Pro, which was a very different and much inferior beast to today's USL) who scored for fun in his first season in Israel, and then returned to his MLS production rate immediately - 4 goals in 47 league games.

Was he ever any good? Is the Israeli league that crap? Or is it just that his team in that one good season was so garbage that other teams went out to score as much as possible, accepting the occasional goal conceded as the price of improving their goal difference?
