Just for fun, how many goals will Rossi score for RSL this season?
    I will go with 8.

Glad you went that direction instead of drug suspension ;)

Depends on if he or Rusnak takes the PKs.

He was never suspended for drugs, so I avoid that route. My guess is that he used drugs to dim the pain and to speed the recovery from the injuries. Most NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB players do the same. It’s probably prevalent in professional soccer too.

I think the better question is which game in the first third of the season will have a season ending injury. This is a better player, but same situation, as Adam Henley. There is a reason LAFC didn't sign him when he trained with them last year. That the club is taking a flyer with that kind of history is laughable. That he was our best player in the preseason, given that, is scary as hell

I say he ends his career with an injury against New England on March 21

Can we do a poll, or maybe two polls in the same thread?

    1. How many goals this year?
    2. When does he get injured?

    1. 5
    2. 4/4 in Vancouver, another victim of that crap turf everyone has to play on

if Freddy is dumb enough to play him on that turf, with his injury history, then we fully deserve that

Because air over the the Wasatch front has been found to contain all kinds of "chemicals" which, when inhaled/eaten/injected, have been known to turn everyday people into Marvel/DC Universe superheros, he will finish the season without an injury and win the Golden Boot.

All together now, take a big deep breath. Can't you just taste the heavy metals?

If it’ll help him win the golden boot I’ll go drive around the block a few times.

Our attack is in such a sorry state I unironically think Rossi will win the team golden boot.

Covid gives us a few ways to look at this:

Zero, because there will be no season.

Plenty, because the long delay gives him more time to get healthy and in shape.

A few, because the condensed schedule of games means he'll get injured regularly.

The dude hasn't played for 2 years, I don't think these extra few months of Covid19 suddenly are the fix. Especially with our medical staff's history of keeping players healthy who have prior injury woes.

This is the key point for me. He hasn't played for two years and wants a chance, but he still came into camp out of shape? If you were begging for the chance to play again, wouldn't you make sure you were fit so you could challenge for a spot on the game day roster when the chance came?

Swept under the rug far too much is (a) why Rossi suddenly stopped playing in Genoa and (b) the multiple clubs that he has trialed with before signing for RSL. Here is a fun journey that would make for a really solid Netflix mini documentary:

Rossi failed a drug test in May 2018. The ending of that was ultimately a warning (though certain parties wanted him to serve a one year ban) and he unceremoniously ended his time with Genoa.

He then jumps around hoping to get a trial somewhere, and of all places is at Manchester United in January of 2019. This is right after Solskjar took over from Mourinho and the first team was on absolute fire. So breaking into the squad was never gong to happen.

So in February he comes all the way to LAFC for their preseason camp. That's about as ambitious as you can get in MLS at the start of 2019. LAFC was ramping up to be an extremely dominant force and Rossi was trying to break into the spots of their top players.

So his next logical move is to Villareal, but that wasn't until October of 2019. He doesn't get a spot there and then starts saying he really hopes to end up in Serie A at the end of 2019.

Naturally, that means he comes to RSL's preseason training camp... wait what. A common theme from all of this trials is that he came in out of shape. As though he still believes the clubs will take him for his past resume and ignore his condition and injury history. It doesn't make sense.

And yet, he was arguably our best player in preseason. I'm not sure what that says about RSL or Rossi but I don't think it's very flattering of either.

    And pffffffhlhlhlyppppppp. He was gone.

I.see the club declined his option and that he scored one goal in 20 games. Was he just too slow, too old or too poor to succeed?

Yes and he also was just not in shape. On social media he seemed to indicate that he didn’t know why he wasn’t playing and was frustrated. But it was clear from RSL he was a medical liability. I guess that experiment is over.
